Does the schedule actually affect the shading?
Because DBH shading is really good..
Well the shading (and coloring ) is bad in Super because of some odd decisions by the cinematography department and bad character designs(Ask Ajay why its bad), it's got little to do with schedule ,but it could be a choice by the animators . The best detailed shading we get from Super is from Karasawa, while others like Tate sacrifice shading for movement.
Karasawa is always good at shading. But, dang. Dragon Ball Heroes PV, Ultimate Tenkaichi (Opening), and DBKai (Opening) shading is so good. Like the Sun rays, Aura, Wave...
This puts me into a situation where I assume that Time does effect the shading.
Compare these two.

RoF and BoG movie shading aren't as great. SSB Vegeta looked more godly and vibrant.
I'm bad at English and still learning. If there's anything wrong, please correct me.
I think it's just Yamamuro doing his things rather than the schedule having an influence on it. Just get back to see episode 13, and the shading is similar.

We're going to get some weak episodes, that's just an inevitability. I at least have confidence that they can keep the quality up to the level of the latest arc, maybe without the visual fallout after each action episode.

Is next week Kitano?

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

No, but the week after might be. If he has 74 it'll have been 7 weeks since the last episode he worked on, however he only did light 2nd key animation on that episode so he could have potentially had a bit more time. Minum of 7 weeks, maximum of 9 weeks (with work on 69 on the side), which for him should be enough to turn out an on model episode.

I feel kinda bad for Kitano. He's the sort of animator that really needs time, like at least 7-9 weeks, to give a good looking episode. Super schedule is really not doing Kitano any favours. He's not like Yashima, where his artstyle may not be great, but he can solo episodes with a short amount of time and make them look decent. I was actually quite harsh to Yashima in the past because I wasn't a fan of his artstyle, but his work ethic is next-to-none, and quite frankly has been a Godsend for Super, given its very wobbly production and schedule. We really need more animators like him.

And that you also have IMMENSELY skewed and comically backwards priorities in what you think is most important and needed to make a good Dragon Ball story.

Hey guys I just wanted to say Happy New Year to everyone and especially Ajay for creating this awesome catalogue in which we have learned many many things during this year. Lets hope 2017 it's better and we have more good discussions here to learn even more and that DBS gets better and better.
Baggie_Saiyan wrote:Tiger Mask ends soon right? How many new projects do Toei have lined up for 2017 (or rather what's been announced so far)?
Tiger Mask doesn't end till June (I hope that's when Appli Monsters ends as well). Toei has a CG show coming in April, but that won't have any effect on Super, and then they have a new Saint Seiya coming, but with no date annouced it probably won't come till some time in the second half of the year.
Yes it will, but to what extent is the question that will be answered during the next arc. Filler allows staff to have a breathing room so that they can focus more on major episodes. One off episodes help the most because they can be created without the reliance of previous episodes to finish and are easier to make in a production sense.
Shreyas_Singh wrote:So this entire month is going to be "filler". Will it help the production for next arc at all?
We're having a total of 10 weeks between the last arc and the next one, there is some circumstantial evidence that the reason they are doing double the amount of filler as the last time they were between arcs is to help the production of the next arc, but we really have no way of telling right now. If they specifically planned for these 10 weeks for the purpose of improving the production for the next arc then we could see anywhere from an okay to pretty great improvement to the production (I speculated previously that we could see something from 2 to 5 weeks improvement to the schedule), but again we have no way of telling if that's what's going on just yet.
I'm hopeful because there are a lot of things pointing towards that being the purpose of these 10 weeks, but I'm also prepared for it to have all been coincidence.

I see, thanks. But don't you think they should completely outsource the filler instead of using important animators like Naoki Tate,Karasawa and Higashide for such episodes? It would help these guys concentrate on more important stuff.
