Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

I'll get some Orange Brick comparisons in a bit.
It's still noticeable but when downscaled it's much less apparent.

Which is why AjayLikesGaming is telling people to make sure to view the images in full res.

This is an 80s/90s animated all-ages show that was popular amongst kids. It's not some potent super weapon that might fall into the wrong hands that we have to protect from evil.

Can't wait to get my hands and finally see the Cell Games again! Hope it's hold ups as well as I remember.
No problem! I've been having a lot of fun re watching the series as the sets come out. How long has it been since you last watched the Cell games?

I haven't seen it properly since it aired on TV. Goes for most of Z actually. I watched the odd fights/amvs on YouTube but never full episodes and it's been really fun, the release dates have been awesome.
I got given Kai S2 at some point, but wanted the orginal Z which ultimately got me into anime collecting in general.

Whoa thats crazy so its been a while. I've watched this material especially in its Kai form probably 5 or 6 times.

The Season Six Orange Brick still had some color issues, but I think the overall picture quality is comparable, since this marks the beginning of the Orange Bricks toning down the noise reduction. I even think some episodes look better on the bricks because some of the Blu-ray episodes have extreme smudging. I think come Season 7-9, the Orange Bricks will consistently come out on top.

But the things you say about these releases are nonsense and just plain dumb. Like you Metalwario64"--final_flash
I uploaded 1 of the extra's from the Season 6 Blu ray a DBZ Q&A. http://youtu.be/h7noGFOldP4 The questions we're all really easy.

I think the screen shots I've seen for this season look better than Kai. I used to own Kai on blu ray, and it looked like I was watching a DVD. The image was very blurred. These screenshots look much sharper. I still wouldn't watch either, though. I don't like grain removal.
No, the image for Kai is soft, it's not blurred. A soft image can easily be rectified by raising the sharpness in your media player or TV settings. You absolutely cannot rectify the issues with this release.

As I said in the past, they can do it because its Dragon Ball Z. The name itself sells. They can half ass it because they know fans are going to buy it anyway because they simply don't know better or flat out don't care what Funimation is doing to the show sadly.

It's too bad that they went from the Levels, which were astoundingly high quality, to this utter hackjob, though. That's the most annoying thing about it. Unfortunately, I don't think any box set containing less than a "season" is going to do very well these days. It doesn't look like they'll ever go back to the Levels, either; I doubt they'd put DBZ on blu ray twice.

The Levels sold poorly due to the fact they were released on the tail end of a previous release and the Orange Bricks were still selling well if I remember correctly. Now..if they released the levels in place of these season sets, it would be a different story.
I kinda feel bad putting a selfless plug in on here, but here goes. I'm going away on sunday and I could do with the extra money. So, if anyone in the UK wants season 1 -4 on blu-ray for £40 p&p included, let me know ASAP and I'll get it sent out

It could be that, but it's probably still hopeless now, even if they wait a few more years. I really don't think they'll sell well when whole seasons are already on blu ray for the same price, in widescreen (which means the same thing as HD )

I'd probably go for that, but I'm waiting to see if Manga UK do a release and how it compares.
