So... Anybody have a better scan? More information? What do you think? Is this a Sparking game? Or is it a Burst Limit game?
Oh man. I absolutely adore the Sparking! games. Confirmed to be developed by Spike... "Sparking!" on the page... DB, not DBZ in the title...

They've had two years to develop it as opposed to the original Sparking! games. It'll be on next-gen. Which means online play, DLC and Blu-Ray. WHICH MEANS TEN-TIMES MORE DISC COMPACITY THAN THE PS2 DISCS! WHICH MEANS A LIKELY ORGY OF DRAGONBALL CHARACTERS!!!

I'm getting excited... maybe too excited. Sorry guys. :D

Even from what little is known, this is so, so, so very exciting.

New screenshots premiered today on Namco-Bandai's Official site... I've taken the liberty of capturing them to share with the internet. Now, strange blogger who I don't know, take these, place your water marks on top, then post them wherever you please.

Image
Ohmaigod! Faaaaangasm. These graphics are aaamaaaazzziiiiiinnnngggg. This screen shot shows nothing new other than some nifty lighting effects and larger chunks of destruction.

Image
Nothing really new here either. Those destroyed rocks are much larger than they were in the previous games. But I'll be impressed when they stay after they've fallen. But I'm sure they'll disappear the moment they hit the ground.

Image
That's a new kick. I've never seen that type of kick in a sparking game. The blocking is a new pose too. Most of these Vegeta vs. Goku shots show a new type of attack. I wonder if they're character specific (BAHAHAHA, that was a joke).

Image
What a boring shot. Krillin's in the game, whoopdedoo. Didn't see that one coming . That's the same mountain that Goku knocked Freeza into on the screenshot in the scan. It looks like my hopes of an open world are crushed. All these shots are in the same area of Namek. Oh well, at least the stage looks bigger than the stages in the previous games.

Image
Like I said before, these Vegeta vs. Goku shots are showing a lot of new stuff. This is a peculiar shot to say the least. Goku was knocked into the mountain and he made an impact. I wonder what that looks like in motion.

Image
Wohoo... This is a new defensive maneuver. Looks like it was taken right out of the show too. This definitely isn't part of a Sonic Sway because that's a tripping kick. I think Raging Blast has implemented the dodging system of Budokai 3 and up (where you press X at the right time do dodge specific attacks). But of that, I can't be certain.

Image
This picture I can go on and on about. Krillin's charging, Piccolo's firing, yadda yaddaa (cool effects though), but check out the background. The view of Freeza's ship is obstructed by the mountains. This is very new. I wonder if you can move back there or if that's pure decoration. I certainly hope you can go back there. I wonder what kind of stuff is behind that mountain on the very left. Most screens from Namek have featured that mountain, but Goku was shown blasting Freeza right through it. So it's obvious that you can go behind it.

Image
This screen is bad news for those who wanted 2 on 2 matches. This shows Krillin flying back up to the sky as if to switch out with another player; like they did in Meteor. Personally, I've never been in favor of 2 vs 2 matches, I don't see how it would work.

Image
Looky here, it looks like the whole game doesn't take place on Namek. That's some nice scenery. I wonder if you can, y'know, go on them. I hate HATE HATE invisible walls. If this game doesn't have an open world, the stages better be fucking big. Vertically and horizontally.

Image
Sorry for the blurry white stuff, that was the clearest I could get. But look at that. This supports my theory of the Budokai 3+ dodging system. That's a direct gut punch (AAAY), and Vegeta is dodging it specifically. I like how his eyes are focused on Goku's face. That's a nice little touch.

Image
Krillin is getting ready to charge at Piccolo full speed, I hope he can move out of the way of the Makankosappo before Piccolo fires it. I'm not sure if the camera is at an angle or what, but Piccolo is perfectly parallel to the incline on the terrain. In the other Sparking games, if you were standing on an incline, your feet would just float above it and the body would stay perpendicular to a level plane. Looks like they're at the base of the big mountain that I keep talking about.

That's all for today folks. These are some great screens. I'm getting really pumped for Raging Blast. I'll be sure to post some more when they come out. That is, if nobody beats me to it.

Those are some nice screens, it looks like they added enough stuff to make this game a potential buy. And they finally, finally, finally got the Super Saiyan hair color right.

The massive amount of aliasing is really throwing me off, but what's so different? This looks just like Meteor. While Burst Limit was basically just a tech demo, it was at least a really pretty tech demo.

I'm just excited about the new moves and the improvement on environment destruction.

It looks like there are some minor tweaks to the basic combat. There's for sure a new defensive system. I pointed that out a couple of times.

Exactly, this could potentially take care of the 1337 fighting game fanboys who said Sparking! wasn't "deep enough" as a fighter.

I'm actually fairly impressed.

Sure there's not much "super-shiny-ki-blasts" in here, but I really like seeing the characters being able to bend and move around in ways they previously couldn't.

Also, I swear, if that Goku's-back-slammed-into-the-wall-by-Vegeta means that Vegeta's ki-handcuffs are in this game; I'm going to be thrilled. :D

Amazing?

The graphics look........ Terrible. Horrendous, even, considering the hardware it's running on. Tons of aliasing, LAUGHABLY low-res textures, and last-gen effects. Folks, this is a current gen game. You seriously need to up your knowledge about what constitutes a visually-impressive game in 2009.

This looks like an HD version of Sparking! with not much thought put into a visual overhaul. Look at Freeza's ship in the background of one of the pics-- it's seriously pathetic. I love how the Sparking! games play, so I'll buy it simply for the new additions, but they are not even the scratching the surface of potential here.

Also, I don't see any Buu-saga characters in those screens. I hope to God they never pull that only-up-to-Cell-saga bullshit ever again.

You never see any character from the Cell saga.. Could it be this is only the first screenshots we get..?

Graphics aren't everything, I certainly don't judge a game based on its graphics. It's just a perk.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that this isn't the final version. These screen shots look very bland and there is tons of aliasing issues. But part of that may be the compression, expansion, then recompression of the pictures. Remember, I screencapped these from a slideshow displayed in flash. I don't think these were taken while running on an actual Xbox or PS3. Spike has done this before by released pictures of Sparking Meteor that were clearly screencaps from a PC.

Uhmm... Super Saiyan Vegeta? That's a Cell saga character, lol.

Kuririn's got a rather simple design, there. It'd be hard to make him look any better or more detailed, really. But then look at Goku and Vegeta's models. They're considerably more detailed and nice-looking.

The only thing that I'd say looks anywhere near "bad" is the slight aliasing on some of the shots. But that still only some of the shots. But there's a bit more detail in the models, and judging from the positions they're in, it looks like they may move a lot more smoothly and naturally, especially when interacting with the environment or other characters. Little things like angles of their feet, facial expressions, and so on.

I'm not impressed by the graphics either, and I agree with whoever called it Sparking HD, because this is far from what a PS3 can do.

Wow. I'm not one to judge a game by it's graphics, but wow.... Sparking METEOR on the Wii looked better then this does.

Well, here's a fact-sheet thus far...

Characters -- 5 Unique, 7 Total
Goku (Super Saiyajin)
Vegeta (Base, Super Saiyajin)
Piccolo
Krillin
Freeza (Final Form, 100%)

Stages -- 2 Total
Planet Namek
Desert Area

One thing I found bizarre... the JAPANESE website for Raging Blast features a song from the AMERICAN Sparking! METEOR soundtrack... listen for yourselves:
