Viz are now releasing the manga in America, and it's read right-to-left. :D

No, they're not releasing "the manga", given that I just said there IS no "the manga". Also, this so-called "the manga" was released by Viz years ago anyway.

Then... what are these Pokémon Adventures(2nd Edition)?
ImageImageImageImageImage

The first volume was released Jun. 2, 2009.
2nd: Aug. 4, 2009
3rd: Oct. 6, 2009
4th: Dec. 1, 2009
5th: Feb. 2, 2010

I know that there was an older version labled as The Best of Pokémon Adventures released back on 2006.

He meant that there's a multitude of Pokemon manga, so there isn't any one to be called "the manga."

If anything, The Ash and Pikachu series comes closest to being considered "the manga," since it's based on the anime.

"Electric Tale of Pikachu" was the first series based off the anime. "Ash and Pikachu" picks up where it ended.

Though if anything should be considered "the manga", it's "Pocket Monsters", which is both the most popular and longest running Pokemon manga series, predating the anime by quite some time, too. Also, it's really awesome.

I recall seeing that 6th Pocket Monsters volume a long time ago in a comic store at the mall; I thought it was a doujinshi. I didn't buy it because I didn't like the cover art. ^^;

I never read "Pokemon Adventures". I did read the "Electric tales of Pikachu" monthlies though and I think I have all of them in a shoebox somewhere; I didn't find out they were edited until a semi-recently.
On hiatus.

Beware: Volume 3 has some really shitty censorship.

They forgot she is only like 10 or so years old...

Here is what it should have looked like:

It is also pretty inconsistent as well. In the previous page, her "chest" looks larger because she has Pokeballs in her shirt. Now her "chest" size just randomly changes.

The funny thing is, the original volumes had this scene intact, but it is just now "offensive?" America's heading backwards I tells ya!

Pokemon was originally a game series, so what the hell kind of argument is that? Pokemon Adventures/Special is based off of the games, so they are more "canon"(if you can even call it that) than the "Ash and Pikachu" manga series, which is based on an anime that is based on a game.

That would be like saying a Dragon Ball game based off of the anime is more canon than one based off of the manga...

Original volumes? Are these still for sale? Is it the complete first 3 volumes (the only ones I care about)? Would I still be able to buy these?

Still in print in Singapore, obviously not still in print in the US, as evidenced by the existance of these rereleases. It's the complete 7 first volumes in the US and the complete 30 first volumes in Singapore. They can be found at Ebay. The original US releases lack the bonus pages included in the other two releases.

Singapore eh? How're the translations, and the censoring (If there is any)?
Basically, does it feel like a legitimate/official product, some some cheap knock-off?

The translations are fine. Not excellent, but acceptable. The translators obviously aren't terribly familiar with the franchise, so you get a couple mistranslations of game-related terms, but otherwise I have no problem with them. There's no censoring, though since they bought the Viz releases of whatever series they did, any translation errors, censors and flipping is intact. The series Viz didn't complete and Chuang Yi continued are also flipped all the way for consistency. The series Viz never touched at all are unflipped.
