I'll probably give them away to a friend, unless I can get a decent price for them somewhere.
The Dragonboxes are also rendering my collection of all of the FUNimation singles obsolete, but I'll no doubt keep them, especially since it makes my collection look kind of impressive if only because of the sheer amount of space they occupy on my shelf.

Being a hoarder, I'm gonna end up keeping them. Also, I have a strange obsession with owning everything in "Seasons", regardless of whether the term was ever applied to the series in it's original broadcast. I don't have a particular reason. I guess it's just my OCD.
Stuff I Know About: Hellsing, Detective Conan, Macross, GaoGaiGar, Cowboy Bebop, Black Lagoon, Kaiji, Hetalia, Fullmetal Alchemist, Captain Harlock, Digimon, Berserk, Dragon Ball, One Piece, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Yu Yu Hakusho, Cyborg 009, Lupin III, Ultimate Muscle/Kinnikuman, Discworld, Avatar: The Last Airbender, TMNT, Futurama, Invader Zim, South Park, Sandman, Marvel, DC, Scott Pilgrim, Star Wars, Godzilla, Doctor Who, Super Sentai, Kamen Rider, Kingdom Hearts, and Sonic the Hedgehog

I'll more than likely keep the season sets in the unlikely event I will want to watch it with the dub soundtrack. I know I will never get anywhere near even half of the cost I spent for them if I were to try and sell them. If only we could have known about the Dragon Box releases, I could have saved that money for these superior editions.
I'm keeping them.
The same way I kept my old FUNi VHS stuff (the whole series, all the movies/specials) and the Pioneer stuff before that (Saiyan/Namek sagas, movies 1,2,3).
The same way I kept my LaserDisc of Movie 1
The same way I kept all my FUNi 3-episode DVDs (Ginyu through the end of the series, the "Ultimate Uncut" ones as well, and all 13 movies).
The same way I kept my horrid "Legacy of Goku" 1-13 DVD release, my Dragon Ball GT series on DVD with the embarassing "Lost Episodes" disaster, and all my Dragon Con and AWA purchased VHS tapes from WAY BACK with the bubblejet printed case covers.
I just can't imagine selling or giving away anything from my Dragon Ball collection, and I'm actually rather horrified by the sheer number of people who seem to have no problem with it.
Still... If I hadn't previously bought any of that stuff over the past 12-15 years or so, or I was a new fan, there wouldn't be any reason to buy ANYTHING (DVD-wise) besides the Dragon Box. It is an astonishingly amazing release and a must own for every fan.

I must admit that once the "Ultimate Uncut Edition" DVD's were cancelled for the Orange Brick sets the remaining interest I had in the DragonBall franchise died. I had decided I wasn't going to shell out anything for the Orange Brick sets or the DragonBall Blue Brick sets because I felt I had given FUNimation enough chances to screw me over. Though yesterday when I decided I'd check on some DragonBall news to see if anything was happening I read about the Dragon Box releases, and some of my fandom came back.
With the announcement, which came a few months ago which shows how long I've been under a rock, I became just as happy as the next guy, but at the same time a little disappointed. I was a little dismayed because I had gotten all of DragonBall on DVD, even the Saga of Goku though it wasn't uncut. I figure if I ever get the urge bad enough to see the first 13 episodes uncut I could find someone somewhere whose selling their Madman release. Along with that I was in the process of replacing a ton of my DragonBall VHS' with their DVD counterparts. I am now to the point where I'm about 5 or 6 Box Sets away from completing the series uncut, minus the first 53 episodes. And finally I have had all of DragonBall GT on VHS & DVD for awhile.
As you can see I've shelled out quite a few bucks trying to get the complete series. The Dragon Boxes will undoubtably make it easier on me in more ways then one, but at the same time I feel as if FUNimation screwed me out of my hard earned money. I guess I can be somewhat satisfied that they didn't pull me in on their stupid Brick sets.

I bought the first brick when it came out, watched part of it, gave it away a few weeks later, and never looked back. Regardless of this Dragon Box release I was not going to ever purchase the series by those means.
As for my 16 or so singles, I'll probably give them away or throw them away as the corresponding episodes are released and purchased over the next couple years.

Yeah, I'm kind of a whore with taking up a lot of space with my collections. So I'll probably keep them... I like how they look on the shelf.Captain Awesome wrote:I'll probably give them away to a friend, unless I can get a decent price for them somewhere.
