It sold 7,000 units on the PS3 in Japan one year after the game was released. As Super Saiyan Prime has already stated, the total number of sales since the games release in 2008 is 152,582. That number does not include anything outside of Japan.sangofe wrote:

Re: Boy did the recent games bomb (Sales Thread)
Well, here's what Famitsu (a popular Japanese gaming magazine) says these Dragon Ball games sold from the period of December 29, 2008 to December 27, 2009 in their Top 1000:
063 [NDS] Dragon Ball Z: Attack of the Saiyans (Bandai Namco) - 192.200 / 192.200
111 [PS3] Dragon Ball: Raging Blast (Bandai Namco) - 107.542 / 107.542
157 [PS2] Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World (Bandai Namco) - 76.275 / 199.966
255 [WII] Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo (Bandai Namco) - 44.160 / 44.160
355 [NDS] Dragon Ball: Origins (Bandai Namco) - 28.966 / 214.195
616 [360] Dragon Ball: Raging Blast (Bandai Namco) 10.816 / 10.816
740 [PSP] Dragon Ball: Evolution (Bandai Namco) - 7.513 / 7.513
Yay, Evolution charted!
Comparing the Mediacreate and Famitsu charts show how even people who's profession is to track sales, aren't always the same.
Also from Famitsu, 2010's first half of the year Top 100 (covers December 28, 2009 to June 27, 2010) has been released:
83. [NDS] Dragon Ball DS 2 Totsugeki! Red Ribbon Force (Bandai Namco) - 59,511

Tenkaichi Tag Team/TAG VS. is continuing this worrying trend:
10. [PSP] Dragon Ball Z: Tenkaichi Tag Team (Bandai Namco) - 19.080

I guess this confirms that Kai doing well in the ratings is not sparking an interest in getting kids to the stores in Japan and buying games (and based on previous quarterly reports, toys too?). Most of the media released for this game stressed the current story in Kai. Although, the game isn't branded as "DragonBall Kai" in Japan, but simply as "DragonBall" (Raging Blast's branding was the same as well) there could be some confusion over what DragonBall it was about. Yeah, that's not likely given the cover art...

There have been many different types of Mario and Pokemon games. This keeps the franchises fresh. Nearly all of the Dragon Ball games released over the past ten years have been fighters. I guess people are tired of that.Saimaroimaru wrote:Pokemon many other Nintendo Franchises like Mario say hi.SparkyPantsMcGee wrote:Ten years in America, twenty years in Japan... Lol, you should come to a Mario or a Pokemon board. Its all about how Nintendo is screwing over their series cause they don't "change". Well when Gen VI pokes are revealed for the first time comes out check then. Thats when they get the most pessimist before tiering the Pokes. As for Mario people have found new ways of whining about his games. Basically, not everyone can be satisfied.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:There have been many different types of Mario and Pokemon games. Really? I've been to a few Pokemon forums lately, and most of the people there are praising Black and White's innovations. Besides, PokePark Wii has just been released and that's a fairly original Pokemon game. I can't comment on what Mario fans think, since I seldom go on Mario forums.Saimaroimaru wrote: Lol, you should come to a Mario or a Pokemon board. You were late then. Right now they are in their normal period(which basically when you talk about anything, just a couple days ago the Mewtwo fanboys invaded) and soon the metagame period will follow. When all the Gen V Pokemon came out it was whine galore about how Gamefreak trolled them, or how horrible the designs were, or how Game Freak broke the metagame and so on. It was a hassle to deal with. The only board still in the pessimist stage to my knowledge is the Kirby Epic Yard one. People are being in-denial about it being a Kirby game. It just shows you that being a video game developer takes balls or the ability to just ignore forums.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:Really? Infact I am stay away from the Kirby boards now. Nintendo revealed that Epic Yard was gonna be a new Ip but decided to make it into a Kirby game. That gave the pessimists all the fuel needed to take over the board. Its ironic when people say Nintendo needs to do something new with its top franchise characters and do it and then get crap like that from the very fans who wanted something new from those characters.

If you're looking to buy dbz games in the UK. It is difficult to walk into a shop and find it.
Best bet is go during the first two weeks of release and you might find a copy. A shop might just stock like 5 on release.
Buying it from second video game store is "easier" but rare

I'm glad people have finally stopped buying the same repetitive shit over and over again. Maybe Namco Bandai will actually start putting some effort into these games again and come up with some fresh ideas.

On a similar note, I'm thinking Raging Blast 2 will do pretty well. It's on two major consoles (unlike Tag V.S), and has that new special aswell.

In Japan, TAG Vs. is on the second most relevant platform... Raging Blast 2 is on the third, and fifth most relevant.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:On a similar note, I'm thinking Raging Blast 2 will do pretty well. It's on two major consoles (unlike Tag V.S), and has that new special aswell.
But yes, the PS3 verison of Raging Blast 2 should outsell Tag Vs. The 360 version has little to no chance.
I only mention Japan, since the NPD Group, and the European trackers don't give out many numbers anymore, and we'd have to go off of Bandai Namco Shipment numbers (which are always a lot larger than actual sales).

Well the thing about that is to a certain extent every company releases the same shit; it's just that Namco Bandai does that with Dragonball on a yearly basis.Taku128 wrote:I'm glad people have finally stopped buying the same repetitive shit over and over again. Like with what EA does with The Madden Series.goku the krump dancer wrote:Well the thing about that is to a certain extent every company releases the same shit; it's just that Namco Bandai does that with Dragonball on a yearly basis.Taku128 wrote:I'm glad people have finally stopped buying the same repetitive shit over and over again. Re: Bandai's got that Bomba Swagger
Yeah but other companies use that extra time to make sure it's worth owning what's basically just a bigger version of the last game. It's easier to justify these "repeat" purchases because the games add many new features and gameplay mechanics, and a few years has passed since the release of the last title. Namco Bandai gives Spike less then a year, has them spend it putting in a bunch of characters that all play the same, add virtually nothing to the gameplay, and then kick it out the door when November rolls around. If Raging Blast 2 weren't including a new special, you wouldn't be able to tell me a single new gameplay feature Spike had added since the last game, because literally nothing has changed. Dragon Ball games are almost on the same level as Madden and Guitar Hero, but even those add new features with every new iteration.goku the krump dancer wrote:Well the thing about that is to a certain extent every company releases the same shit; it's just that Namco Bandai does that with Dragonball on a yearly basis.Taku128 wrote:I'm glad people have finally stopped buying the same repetitive shit over and over again. How do you know this? Have you played the game? Do you what additions Spike has made to the combat system? They've fixed the camera issues, that's gotta count for something gameplay-wise.Taku128 wrote:Namco Bandai gives Spike less then a year, has them spend it putting in a bunch of characters that all play the same, add virtually nothing to the gameplay.

Re: Bandai's got that Bomba Swagger
The minimum that Namco Bandai and co have to do is to break even when they make games.
Breaking even does not require that much energy to do.
To make a major profit requires energy and time.
