Let's hope the put more effort into the English dub than the cover art.

Like the Dragon Ball Season 4 cover, it might change.

Not a fan of the art in general (I personally loathe this shiny look it has going recently), but I like the simplicity. Better than the over-the-topness we're used to.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Exactly. Beats the cluster of text that is the Japanese Kai BluRay release.

That's true. At least it's not overly crowded.

That cover looks really plain, the Goku image is fantastic however. Atleast if they had some kanji in the background or something.

Yeah, the "Kai" Kanji would've been a nice touch. Keep in mind that the cover art might change.

If they throw the Kai kanji in the background of the cover like the Japanese cover has, it'd be much better looking. It looks good right now, but it's not overly amazing or anything.

I like how its says part 1, not season one part 1. It makes more sense.

Agreed.

Of course, English and Japanese Dragon Ball DVD covers are pretty much universally boring. The only ones I like are the old Individual Discs. I'd much rather have group shots, backgrounds, and generally just pictures with atmosphere and meaning rather than just a single character or two doing badass poses in empty space.

Oh hi, FUNimation. I fixed your boxart.

If some dork who's barely got his Associate's in CGA can come up with this, you'd think, "surely FUNimation's trained, hired professionals can manage something just as good." But noooo.

Here's hoping what we've seen so far is just a placeholder.

No offense, but that font on the right of the cover looks tacky as all-get-out. ^.^;

Hehe, this reminds me of when FUNi first started releasing their season 3 tapes with screencaps as cover art, and all the fans made their own versions of cover art. Ahhhh, good old days!

But I have to say I like that cover for the most part.

I really like the edit that was made by Kaboom.

FUNi needs to make it that.

Yeah, I was having a hard time finding a font in my collection that looked enough like the one FUNi was using, so I got a little lazy on that part. My main focus was the left side of the cover, with Goku.

Would have been easier if there was a HQ image I could have used as a template of sorts. But you're not the first to have issues with the font, and now it's starting to bug me as well...

EDIT:

Okay, I fixed it. :P

It reminds me of the Dragon Box singles, which I never liked a whole lot because of the fact that it was always just a character or two set against a white backdrop.

Nice cover Kaboom. Is there any chance you can do one with just the "Kai" Kanji in the background that's added? Then it would be perfect.
