I honestly don't see how anyone can go back to DBZ after seeing Kai.
'Z' is a massively bloated overlong monster of a series.
For every great 'driving episode' we got, the series was full of fighters staring each other down, endless backgorund shots and people spending half an episode powering up just to go into a flashback.
Maybe some people like that sort of thing. But I havent got time for that rubbish.
Kai cuts the fat to get to the meat.
It aint a perfect cut, but its a big step in the right direction.
Why all the hate with Kai??

For me, on the other hand, it's quite easy to go back to Z, again and again. It's bloated, sure, but I love it. Both Z and Kai have their pros and cons, but Z is still, by far, my favorite. A lot of people dislike the fighters "staring each other down", though the slow pacing only contributes to the buildup of events, in my opinion. I suppose this is why I also enjoy films such as 2001: A Space Odyssey. I like scenes to breathe; not everything has to be like Transformers.dan2026 wrote:I honestly don't see how anyone can go back to DBZ after seeing Kai.

Also, Yamamoto's score will never compare to Kikuchi's, whose score is downright epic and emotional. I realize that both scores repeat themselves throughout the series, but I've already tired of Yamamoto's.
I like Kai, don't get me wrong, but for different reasons than Z. To me, Z is the ultimate way to experience the anime, especially in Japanese. If I want a short, canon version of the story, I'll read the manga. However, Kai is really great for introducing a new audience to this portion of Dragonball and in English, too. With the exception of Kaio, I really like the new dub, which I had never expected.

There's a difference in "giving scenes room to breathe" and "GET ON WITH IT".Mountain wrote:I like scenes to breathe
2010 is better than 2001. There, I said it.
