Oh, yeah! When I first got a DVD player, I used to use zoom all the time to just look at things more closely. It was so cool. I'd never been able to do that with home video before! I'd just pause on a frame, zoom in, and just pan around. I don't know how many other DVDs players do it, but with mine, you'd push the zoom button once, and it would open a little yellow-bordered window, which you could move around with the arrow keys, and then when you hit "enter" it would zoom in to that location.
Do you follow the most comprehensive and entertaining Dragon Ball analysis series on YouTube? If you do, you're smart and awesome and fairly attractive. If not, see what all the fuss is about without even having to leave Kanzenshuu:

My first DVD player did that, too. So many hours wasted...

If you watch it with the bars on the side, you'll get the whole video. There's no point zooming in and all that.

Ow, shucks, man. :( I may be a dumb idiot, but I HATE the black bars.

I just got my KAI Part 1 BluRay and was devastated when I found out I could not stretch the image... and I already ordered the other sets up to Part 4. :/

It's kind of ironic really, because before getting the BluRay I downloaded a torrent rip of the set and when I tested it on the PS3 and stretched it, it looked fabolous and this is what motivated me to go ahead with the purchase. Now I actually prefer my Dragon Box to this, because I can upscale it without any issue.

Oh well, that's that, I suppose. I'll have to try and get used to it. No use in any more whining.

You were devastated when you couldn't make everyone gain 30 pounds?

I was, really. You see, I'm used to stretching 4:3 images to 16:9 and I like it that way. But I guess having black bars is no big of a deal either. I suppose later I'll rip the episodes and burn them as video files so I can upscale them again. And in the meantime I can still enjoy my Dragon Boxes with 30 extra pounds, so I'm okay.
And yes, I *AM* crazy.

I, for one, prefer to watch the original series in its original aspect ratio. I stretched the Dragon Box footage from 4:3 to 16:9. It resulted with the picture turning out awkward and unnatural (it felt like the footage was being squashed by a steamroller).
