Considering how long that is, I'm pretty sure it's going to be removed here as it's very close to a whole episode.TheAldella wrote:For those who want to check it out, I muxed the Yamamoto score with the English Dub of Kai from Part 6.

That said, the music was way too loud and made it very hard to hear the voices at certain points.

Re: Kai Part 6 Discussion
Just got done watching all of part 6 today, all I can say is, I miss Yamamoto's music so much and Piccolo sounds way too much like Vegeta when he yells.
Re: Kai Part 6 Discussion
My Blu-ray is on it's way along with Yu Yu Hakusho BD1
This is gonna be nice, I haven't seen most of these episodes on TV when they were airing on Nicktoons.

I wish someone would do this with the whole series... I buy every volume, so I don't want to DL it to pirate it... but if a version was DLable with the Yamamoto Score, I'd jump at it.TheAldella wrote:For those who want to check it out, I muxed the Yamamoto score with the English Dub of Kai from Part 6.

Re: Kai Part 6 Discussion
Just finished Part Six. Here are my final thoughts.
“This is why they call it off-roading!”
Ugh. It's great that examples of stupid FUNimation lines don't take ten pages to list anymore, but I wish they'd just lay off stuff like this altogether. If you've got a good thing going, what's the point of drifting back into old bad habits?
Toei left in all (or most) of the “Cell finding” filler for 'Kai,' and to be honest I'm not really sure why they did. After Imperfect Cell retreats from Piccolo and the others in the manga, it pretty much jumps to Goku waking up, and then heads into Piccolo's fight with # 17. In the anime we've got Cell absorbing a football team, Kuririn saving a mother and child from Cell, and the characters traveling from place to place and getting frustrated when all they find are piles of clothes. It drags on a good bit and things would've moved much faster if these scenes were removed or cut down. There's an awful lot of filler here for a cut that's supposed to be mostly filler-free.
Imperfect Cell's voice started off alright, but when it got close to him confronting the Androids, he started sounding like Harvey Fierstein. I could just picture him saying “Oh my God! Oh my God! I'm gonna be Perfect! I've gotta call my mother!” Semi-Perfect Cell? Eh. Better, but it took some getting used to. The part where he was yelling over the islands was annoying.
And anytime he laughs-- either in Imperfect or Semi-Perfect form-- it just sounds awful.
# 16's dub voice has improved over the old one, but his dialogue isn't quite right. He's supposed to sound like a regular “guy” (at least that's what I gathered from the manga and subtitles), but FUNimation has him speaking like the Terminator. And they changed some of his words to # 18 before he steps in to fight Cell. Instead of him saying “I'm glad you guys didn't kill people without reason” it's “You've shown me that the world is a good place” or something like that. Kind of a dumb thing to say, considering they spent their road trip destroying police cars, robbing places and even vaporizing a forest (no, that's destroying nature!)
The Kai dub is not perfect. No dub ever is, really. But the things it gets wrong are so miniscule in comparison to how terrible the old dub was, that I can completely overlook its minor infractions. Despite its flaws, this is still the kind of dub that DBZ always needed.
There seemed to be something weird going on with the commercial bumper card at first. Sometimes old ones were recycled after new ones were introduced, and sometimes old ones were mixed in with the new. This was fixed during the last few episodes on the set, but I guess Toei got a little lazy here.
Finally, the music. Either the Kikuchi score has gotten better or I'm simply getting used to it, but I thought it was a lot better and more effective in this set. The Kami-Sama/Piccolo merging scene was scored perfectly and the same goes for the other scenes as well.
Overall, there were flaws, but I enjoyed this set. There were some really great episodes in this one. Very good action too. I can't wait for Part Seven! I want to hear Perfect Cell. And hopefully we'll get “Mr. Satan” and not “Hercule” this time. Sorry for the length!

Eh, this isn't even that bad. I mean, these characters are SUPPOSED to be having fun. Having them joke a little isn't that out of character.SSJFrogGinyu wrote:Just finished Part Six. Here are my final thoughts.

Here's the thing, though. While it might work decently in the manga, which only has about 16 pages released a week, the show needed to give Imperfect Cell a little time to grow on people and actually flesh out a little. I actually thought things went a little FAST this time around.Toei left in all (or most) of the “Cell finding” filler for 'Kai,' and to be honest I'm not really sure why they did. After Imperfect Cell retreats from Piccolo and the others in the manga, it pretty much jumps to Goku waking up, and then heads into Piccolo's fight with # 17. While I can agree semi-Perfect cell sounds terrible at points, I thought Imperfect Cell sounded, for all intents and purposes, fantastic. Especially the acting. Now, I'm a fan of the Japanese version too. I just really enjoy bother interpretations.Imperfect Cell's voice started off alright, but when it got close to him confronting the Androids, he started sounding like Harvey Fierstein. I could just picture him saying “Oh my God! Oh my God! I'm gonna be Perfect! I've gotta call my mother!” Semi-Perfect Cell? Eh. Better, but it took some getting used to. To be fair, the original line said they killed neither humans NOR animals... which is probably wrong, considering 18 did, in fact, blow up a good chunk of that forest, most likely killing plenty of animals. Furthermore, #16's dub line probably more infers that he found the world beautiful and would never have been able to see it without traveling with them.# 16's dub voice has improved over the old one, but his dialogue isn't quite right. He's supposed to sound like a regular “guy” (at least that's what I gathered from the manga and subtitles), but FUNimation has him speaking like the Terminator. As for his other quirks, such as using phrases such as "negative" and "unable to penetrate the enemies defenses", I only mind them in the sense that they're altering it from the original. That bothers me, but otherwise his dialogue works well for such an interpretation.
I'd expect to hear both, honestly.Overall, there were flaws, but I enjoyed this set. There were some really great episodes in this one. Very good action too. I can't wait for Part Seven! I want to hear Perfect Cell. And hopefully we'll get “Mr. Satan” and not “(the H-word)” this time. Sorry for the length!

Really? I more or less really dislike this dub but even I would have thought they'd be sticking with the proper name on the home release and using the H-word on TV. I'm just kinda curious why you think they'll keep on calling him H-word Satan? I'm definite you know more than me about this kind of thing, being a fan of this production n' all so don't take this as me being a dicknose or anything.KaiserNeko wrote: I'd expect to hear both, honestly.

'Cause they called him Hercule Satan in the Uncut dub before. Don't see why they won't here.Akumaito Beam wrote:Really? I don't think it's been released yet. I checked Amazon, Rightstuf, FUNimation's website, and Google Image Search. Part Seven itself is not even listed on Amazon or Rightstuf.LeprikanGT wrote:Any thoughts on the part 7 cover?

You know what. Almost all of Android 16's lines bothered me while watching his scenes. I can't stand his Terminator replies. I was hoping for a "I'll be back" though. Honestly I liked his older lines on the orange bricks a lot better.
