Dragonball Z: Saiyan Saga - Help make this happen!

Re: Dragonball Z: Saiyan Saga - Help make this happen!
Ah I see. I asked them over on youtube the other day and they said it should be fair use, although in their interview with the Dao of Dragonball I believe they said they'd 'cross that bridge' when they come to it, so I guess they know the risks. I think if Toei/Shueishia really wish to be asses they will try to flag their trailer for infringement of some sort, and I would hate for it to happen since a lot of money and effort is going into this.

If that does happen, they can still up the video somewhere else. It probably will happen though. Youtube is stepping their game up.DonieZ wrote:Ah I see. Yeah, they could however the amount of publicity they would be able to get by having it up on youtube would be so much more than on some random site. If it does get taken down though, I think that it would be in the best interest for fans to rip it and upload it everywhere on youtube, that way it'd be real difficult for youtube to take care of it. I wouldn't be bothered though.Jackal puFF wrote:If that does happen, they can still up the video somewhere else. It probably will happen though. How do you guys think this live trailer will turn out anyway? I think 10,000 dollars is definitely enough for an amazing 4 - 5 minute video. I'm looking forward to it.

That was probably just a quick rush job that wasn't showing the fan trailer's full SFX potential. I'm sure the clip was really just a test clip anyways.Jackal puFF wrote:Everything looks pretty good so far, I just hope they can make the effects look somewhat better or just realistic enough. That spirit ball was super cheesy.
Also, according to the makers Twitter account, the next video update should be online later tonight.

Re: Dragonball Z: Saiyan Saga - Help make this happen!
I sincerely have no faith in this project, I've checked the videos but Dragon Ball Z, specially the Z-part is the one that shouldn't be brought to a live action film.
They could make a film about Dragon Ball and be fantastic but they're more into the big explosive battles which might end up flopping.
DBZ + Real Life.. Just no.

I have faith in this. Sure, it's not going to be anything out of this world, but it'll probably be better than the whole 90 minutes of DB:E. Also, $10,000 vs $50 million...
They're fans of the show and are trying their best to be as faithful as possible, they're already one up on DB:E.

The thing is: should a live-action Dragon Ball movie be faithful to the original? People must learn history, so that they will not do the same mistakes again like those before us, and by that we can move on as better human beings.SSJSteve wrote:They're fans of the show and are trying their best to be as faithful as possible, they're already one up on DB:E.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Re: Dragonball Z: Saiyan Saga - Help make this happen!
How old is the kid playing Gohan? He looks around 5-7. How is a kid around the actual age of Gohan during that time period going to look and act convincing enough (from Piccolo's training to reactions towards certain scenes) without looking like a bad actor?

Actually, DBE's budget was $30 Million.SSJSteve wrote:$10,000 vs $50 million...

A bit off topic, but Emmy Rossum and Justin Chatwin were interviewed by TV Line and the last question was:
TVLINE: Last question: A fan wants to know if there will be a Dragonball Evolution 2….
ROSSUM: Dragonball 2…. Gosh, I hope not! [Laughs] Only because I can’t see Justin getting back in that outfit. That was definitely a moment in time.
CHATWIN: Oh no! [Laughs] It’s like this ongoing joke that will never die, the fact that we did that movie.

Why cant they make the hair look like QuantumDestiny's?:

Honestly it would make the movie so much better.

Hmm...that quote's a shame, because I honestly think that Goku's evolution dogi was one of the better parts of the movie. Sure it wasn't accurate, but it looked good.
As for the hair, is that honestly the kind of style you want? So many products would go in to making the hair stick up in the gravity defying anime style that it would look like complete and utter shit in motion. I don't blame DBE for going the route it did with Goku's hair, it worked better on screen than the other options would IMO.

So they're making a $10,000 fan film. Sounds pretty neat! It's a lot of money for a fan film so I expect it to look good for what it is, but I'm not really gonna start comparing it to big Summer blockbusters or anything.
Hopefully we'll see something beyond that Yamcha test soon.

The ears a little off, but apart from that I don't see what's so bad about it.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

That Piccolo... does not work for me.
James Marsters Piccolo looks a lot better to be brutally honest, possibly one of the only redeeming qualities of Evolution.
