but why wouldn't Gohan or Gotenks be able to beat Kid Buu? Goku said all he needed to do was get to full strength SSJ3 in order to beat Buu, which of course he wasn't able to accomplish because of the fact that he was in a living body.
However, its generally agreed that Gohan's mystic powerup is equivalent (or even greater) than SSJ3.
Piccolo said they could have killed Boo in the Room of Spirit and Time after Gotenks used his kamikaze attack. He said "Dammit. We should have used our ki to completely obliterate him, instead of burning him up." When SSJ3, Gotenks goes through a long speech as to why Boo won't be able to come back. Quote: "Now to finish you! I'll blow you to pieces, then into little chunks, then to shreds, then to bits. This time, you won't be able to return to normal. Once I blow you apart, I'm going to completely wipe you out with my ki, you see? *Boo looks frightened* "DIE!!!" *SSJ3 wears off*
I also think there's a non fillerous scene of where Vegetto throws the tail-like thing from Boo's head in the air, as if he were giving it back to him, but uses a quick ki blast and disintegrates it quickly. I think he says something like "Its easy as that. That's going to be your whole body shortly." Even though Vegetto greatly greater than Gotenks, its pretty proven that you don't necessarily need to exert a huge attack in order to wipe Boo out completely.
