That's not a parody manga, that's Oh New Super Gadget Lovers, a team of super elite gadget news report crew, the Onyu Tokusentai! It's draw by Ooshi Naho.

...still not really digging the idea behind the plot of this spin-off, or whatever it is. But I'm more than happy to see it continue if it means we'll be able to see some of the other Avatar's full designs down the road. The little artwork we get of the Elite and Berserker classes is usually always obscured by text on the site or in the magazines, especially in the case of the Freeza Clan, Majin and Namekian characters.
I'm almost tempted to use Google translate to ask Toyble if he'll draw up unobscured references for them. xD

Yeah I feel you bro, this plot feels kind of weird. It's in universe because it features Capsule Corp and the likes, but at the same time it feels like a different universe or something like that? Or maybe the far future? I'd rather if it was sorta in universe and that the cards wouldn't be featured in the manga. It would be similar to Online but following the anime and movies instead. With not only time travelling but also reality warping to allow for such abominations (in a good sense of the word) as Janenba Baby to exist.

My in-universe explanation:
Which would also explain why there is a statue of Goku in the Tenkaichi Budokai arena during Goku Jr.'s time.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:AGE 794
The “Telecommunicated Satan-style Martial Arts Course” is rebranded as the “Pan Fighting Network”, with Pan as the instructor.
- With customer claims that the “Telecommunicated Satan-style Martial Arts Course” is worthless rapidly spreading, disgruntled costumers flood Satan’s house, prompting Pan (age 15) to subdue them. The event becomes a big scandal and the “Telecommunicated Satan-style Martial Arts Course” is rebranded under Pan's tutelage. Afterwards, Pan asked Bulma tp help her develop a system for people to battle each other across long distances so that she could create a “Telecommunicated Martial Arts Dojo”. From this point on, the sports-like fighting course became very popular, especially among young people.

To me, it seems that this is a world in the far future after GT (including the movies in the same continuity), where the adventures of Goku & co. became known to the world, and they made a video game based on it. Beet, Note and Erito (and every other kid that will look like someone from the main DBZ cast) are descendants of the ones they look like. That's how I view it for now.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Yeah, but it's not really the same intended thing though. In Victory Mission, the in-game fights are obviously exaggerated for our benefit, as the players are still just using cards on the game stage, which is not the purpose of Pan's DBO dojo. :/JeffJarrett wrote:My in-universe explanation:

Both were created by Capsule Corporation. Pan and Bulma's project was lanched in 794 and Victory Mission porbably takes place in or after Age 889 since Pack is a friend of Beat and both attend Satan City Primary School in the manga (cf chapter 3).TheDevilsCorpse wrote:Yeah, but it's not really the same intended thing though. Up above... is the DB Heroes kid supposed to be Goku Jr., or did they just lazily borrow the Puck and friends character designs?

No he isn't and what do you mean lazy? They're called cameos.B wrote:Up above... is the DB Heroes kid supposed to be Goku Jr., or did they just lazily borrow the Puck and friends character designs?

Sorry, not keeping up with this very closely. I assumed this was a loosely connected story and that they were primary characters.

Oh I see. That's fair enough bro. They're all cameos, apart from the actual showcased the ones which are avatars for the arcade game Heroes.B wrote:Sorry, not keeping up with this very closely. I assumed this was a loosely connected story and that they were primary characters.
