Re: Another live action DBZ Project
I think its refreshing that instead of remake something from the show, they intend to make their own side story.
I just hope they dont forget that the original version is japanese and dont came with english cliche speeches. That kinda ruined the freeza saga teaser from K&K Productions to me.

A world without Dragon Ball is just meh.

Re: Another live action DBZ Project
Looks nice so far!
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

And yet again they have flopped to deliver a "real life Dragon Ball Z" experience as others have tried to based on the trailer.
Then again, this is just a fan-work so it's obviously not going to be high quality in terms of budget and special effects.

Re: Another live action DBZ Project
I forgot this thread existed. But I wanted to let everyone know that I saw K&K post this on facebook and I was actually the first one to comment, asking the question "why does this look better than yours?" and the comment was deleted. This happened a few days ago. So in the end, we may never know how a non-funded(I think?) video is way better than a over donated funded budget project, that has the editing skills of cheap green screen. Honestly it looks like a joke, it's like Tim and Eric style. It's no excuse.

Re: Another live action DBZ Project
Yes, the promo trailer for Dragon Ball Z: Light of Hope was self funded by Rita and Donnie McMillin who founded Robot Underdog and both produce and direct the project. The special effects were done by Gregory Hall. All of us donated our time and effort and worked for free.ultimateemail5000 wrote:So in the end, we may never know how a non-funded(I think?) video is way better than a over donated funded budget project, that has the editing skills of cheap green screen.
We hope to get crowd funding from DBZ fans so we can make our production even better.

Re: Another live action DBZ Project
Love it! The only thing that could be better maybe is the ADR, the voices seem to lack... something. Maybe it's intentional though, them being androids and all...

Re: Another live action DBZ Project
Thanks, glad you liked it. It's not intentional. Robot Underdog needs to get an audio FX or ADR specialist on the team, if they haven't already, to work on the proper audio mixing.
If anybody here is an audio specialist and wants to be part of the project, let me know! It's made by fans, for fans.
Filming for Episode 1 begins in early May.

Actually this is just a teaser for the fight scene in Episode 1. The full 10 minute (or so) episode will be out later this year.DarkPrince_92 wrote:OOHHH SNAP!!!! Light of Hope Trailer (not the teaser). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGbrNSC2ssg

Glad to see this thing is still alive! I really love the feel of the trailer, really gave me that same feeling Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist did. It seems real

Re: Another live action DBZ Project
Thanks guys! It's exciting to see it come together like this and receive such a positive response.
The full episode will be even more impressive later this year.

The more and more I see of this project; the more I'm really enjoying what I'm seeing.
Re: Another live action DBZ Project
So they are doing an Indiegogo campaign now?
I remember that the K&K Productions came under scrutiny here for asking money (since they don't own a DB-related license). How is this one different?
