DBZ #1 Japanese Region 2 release
Moderators: Kanzenshuu Staff, General Help
From what I remember (for DVDs), the cheap shipping is 900 yen (about $5) and the express shipping is 2000 yen (about...$16 I guess).
This is really the only downside to buying the singles, the shipping will add up. They do reduce shipping with the more items you buy, but it still adds up. It might actually be smart to buy the disks in chunks of 10 or so, and then you can compare Amazon's combined shipping price to CD Japan's (CD Japan ships based on weight, not flat rates, and they give you more shipping options).

Sorry to get off topic but how exactly are you people ordering these DVD's off amazon.jp? I have been sitting here for an hour trying to figure it out. Where's the option for international orders? Can someone sign me up for an account? I have no idea what I am doing on that site. Also the online translators out there suck ass. If someone could fill me in step by step how you are ordering these DVD's and getting them sent to you internationally. I would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Well this is by no means step by step, but the first step is to specify English as the language you want. Most things will still be in Japanese, but it will be much easier. Near the top right of each product page is a "Display in English" link. Press that for starters. Then, you can order your item. Follow the instructions, but when you come to the shipping screen, click on the international address link. That will allow you to enter your international address, and eventually the shipping options presented to you will be international ones. Hope that helps.
Now, what about those Dragon Book scans...?
EDIT: To find the dvds, just search for Dragon Ball. This works because it is an english title, and it is listed under Dragon Ball, not Doragonbooru in katakana. You can also find the movie box this way.

i hate the my post service and i hate it that DragonBall is so popular....i had preordered my 3 DVDs and then i had to wait 1week until they get shiped because they get to mutch orders, and now they dont speed up with tracking....next time i take speedtracking.....and it also looks like i have to preorder the next 3 bevor i even got the first one......
btw if i wanna collect them all, whats the best way of ordering? monthly 3DVDs or 6/9 all 2/3 monthes
oh and i preordert the movie Box!!!...its my first DragonBox! i cant wait to get it in March...i cant wait to see the scouter-walki-talki...even if it is more a thing for lil kids....btw....how old are the (normal) DragonBox owners? i mean i dont think 10yr old boys ordering them......

I'm 20. I think it's fair to say that the Dragon Boxes were not intended for children. They're limited collector's items for the hardcore Dragon Ball fans (who would mostly be in their 20's now). Any 10-year-old kid who gets a $1000 box set for their birthday is the luckiest motherfucker alive... But yeah, they're not intended as toys (as for the Scouters, that's just typical Japanese marketing. Box sets generally come with limited toys, figures, etc. regardless of what it is).Dan_the_Rebirth wrote:how old are the (normal) DragonBox owners? i mean i dont think 10yr old boys ordering them......

Like DBW, I am also 20, but I think it comes down to anyone with the money to buy one, the ability to not fail miserably at ordering through Amazon.co.jp, and the want. This can span any age, but like you I wouldn't think a 10 year old would be capable of getting one, for one of many reasons (most of which involving parents who are mostly PC illiterate, and some who are put off on first sight by a foreign language, which would lead into them thinking that they're going to get ripped off. Because, as we all know if it isn't American, it isn't very good. [Note: This is sarcasm, and a mockery of all of the adults I know that believe that.Dan_the_Rebirth wrote:how old are the (normal) DragonBox owners? i mean i dont think 10yr old boys ordering them......

If Mr. Robot's help wasn't enough, and you're still having trouble registering, and ordering, I'll take some step-by-step screen shots for you.InfernoSoul wrote:Sorry to get off topic but how exactly are you people ordering these DVD's off amazon.jp?

The R2 movie box-set, at maximum without shipping and tax price, should only be $325 American, considering they should each logically be about $25 a piece, and only that high a piece for the remastered video quality considering how old the movies have gotten. Any higher than $325 for the R2 Movie Box is, in my opinion, an overpricing milking fest by Toei. Just a little something I thought I should get off my chest.

#2. They come with many extras (deluxe box, book, 2 working Scouters, etc.)
#3. Even with the most expensive shipping added on top, it only costs $345 US. (327 minus shipping)
#4. Toei has always been decent with their prices, it's FUNimation who milk's the series...yeesh.

Ah, what I was doing was multiplying 25 by the 13 DBZ movies, I didn't realize the original Dragonball movies would be included as well. I guess I can see your point about the extra collectable items hightening the price. When I was talking about milking, I meant the movie box set, not the actual series. FUNi have been (with the exception of re-releasing the first 3 DBZ and first 3 original DB movies redubbed) releasing the movies in perfect order, ranging each one between $19 and $25 American. But this isn't the place to talk about the R1 releases, that's what began the erasing fest EX had to do. Sorry. Any idea what the over-all price Toei's pulling for with the Movie Set (I'm merely curious, I'm not buying it)?DBW wrote:#1. 25x17=425 (not 325)Conan the SSJ wrote:The R2 movie box-set, at maximum without shipping and tax price, should only be $325 American, considering they should each logically be about $25 a piece, and only that high a piece for the remastered video quality considering how old the movies have gotten. Retail - 50,000 yen = $420 USD
Amazon Japan - 39,000 yen = $327 USD
Plus express shipping - 41,000 yen = $345 USD
So it would run you $345 plus there might be a customs fee (but not always). Just add your State tax % plus a $5 handling fee and that's what the customs would be.

That would be great, lost in thought.lost in thought wrote:If Mr. Robot's help wasn't enough, and you're still having trouble registering, and ordering, I'll take some step-by-step screen shots for you.
I figured I could probably figure it out using the "translate to English" option, also Altavista. I'm waiting for more volumes to be released, following the advice of DBW.
You guys are hardcore anime fans, I'm just a casual fan ... I'm clueless when it comes to this sort of thing. Having a guide or a tutorial, if you will, would be very helpful!

I just remembered a moment ago, that there already is a really comprehensive guide available for ordering things on Amazon.co.jp, which is of excellent quality, and can be found: here.M-Vegeta wrote:That would be great, lost in thought.lost in thought wrote:If Mr. Robot's help wasn't enough, and you're still having trouble registering, and ordering, I'll take some step-by-step screen shots for you.

Well, I'm 21 and will be 22 roughly when the movie box comes out. They started coming out in what, 2003? So I was 19. I've bought all 4 using my own money/credit also, so I'm not spoiled ;pDan_the_Rebirth wrote:how old are the (normal) DragonBox owners? i mean i dont think 10yr old boys ordering them......
Oh, and I'll do those pictures of the DragonBoxes/books this weekend, work has been a killer >_<;

Thanks for offering to do the Dragon Box stuff.
M-Vegeta, sorry my help wasn't enough. I'm not a very comprehensive person.
I just want to pose a really quick question: Do you guys think the packaging is cooler on the individual releases or the Dragon Box?
Oh yeah, my friend is offering to sell me three daizenshuu for 30 bucks each, should I do it?

To the first question, I'd vote overwhelmingly for the DragonBox. The singles are nice (and beat FUNi's by a mile, still), but the box is just a kickass presentation. Plus, the episode guides and extras in the bonus books included with the box make it the most complete collection you can have. It's...it's beautiful, man ;pMr. Robot wrote:I just want to pose a really quick question: Do you guys think the packaging is cooler on the individual releases or the Dragon Box?

As for the Daizenshuu, which three? I'd probably say yes. Hell, I did...you know, pay for them. Josh, the guy who actually owns the server these forums are on (not to be confused with Mike/VegettoEX), ripped me off (and I have the PM's and Western Union receipt to prove it).

WOW! If I can't figure it out from this comprehensive guide, I think it's hopeless.lost in thought wrote:I just remembered a moment ago, that there already is a really comprehensive guide available for ordering things on Amazon.co.jp, which is of excellent quality, and can be found: here.

That's awesome, though, should do the trick!
Thank you.
I don't mean to be an ass (though I know I sound like one) but are you going to do them? If you're not that's perfectly fine, just say so, 'cause I've been holding out. Thanks.MajinVejitaXV wrote:
