I agree. He's a guy who's lived in a dark and twisted future for his entire life. If anyone should talk like that it's him. Not to mention it's a world with a totally different tone to the lighthearted main timeline.

And speaking of poetic and Dragonball I know it might not exactly count as poetic but what about some of the stuff Freeza says in Kai like "You've given me a very bracing workout. Part of me might even shed a tear".
Freeza is aristocratic, so it fits. I don't see how just because he comes from a dark future that it fits him. Trunks is polite and straightforward.
So polite and straightforward that he felt the need to pull his sword out on Goku with no warning? And I don't see how that line is impolite in any way. As for it not being straightforward it's a pretty basic metaphor that anyone should be able to understand.

Oh, boyyy I got a whole lot!!

Chi-Chi: You let that green monster take my son!!!??

Future Trunks: (to Vegeta) "NO! I've seen it all my life! I've lived through the horrors of force like that creates! And I won't let it happen in this time too, even if it means taking you DOWN!"

And the most infamous.....

Future Trunks: "If they set that android free it will be the end of all of us!"

Next...

Goku: HaHa!!! Bulma's your mother!??

Goku: It's the latest fashion on planet Yadrat, but I guess it does look a little strange, but at least it's not pink!

Yamcha: Tha-That's Cell up there, who really cares about being fair?"

This is by no means my favourite line, but recently I've found myself randomly saying, "Pick on someone your own altitude!" :shifty:

He didn't attack Goku.

Yes, anyone can understand it, but that's not him. He never speaks that flowery, and it's not that good a line anyways. It's okay at best.

One of my favorite lines is when Vegeta tells Kuririn to go drink milk.
The biggest truths aren't original. The truth is ketchup. It's Jim Belushi. Its job isn't to blow our minds. It's to be within reach.

It still wasn't a polite way to act towards someone his mother and master had deep respect for.

And it's understandable he might get a bit overdramatic when he was finally about to rid the earth of the androids and hope was finally in sight for the first time in his life.

I have a few..

Vegeta: Hello! Servant woman bring me a drying cloth at once woman can you hear me?
Bulma: I hear you but my name is Bulma and I am not your servant so say please
Vegeta: Forget about the stupid drying cloth then

Piccolo: Before you leave, I have a request to make this'll sound strange but try to put your emotions aside I want Goku's son to come with me for special training.
Master Roshi: What?
Krillin: No way! You can't fool me mister! Special training!
Piccolo: Grrr..
Krillin: You just wanna gobble him up!
Piccolo: I do not

Chichi: I hope you like black and blue, because you're going to be wearing it for a while.

Goku: ohh Piccolo, where did you get those clothes?
Piccolo: your wife got them for me out of your closet.
Goku: oh sorry about that. Chichi means well. :D

He can do it without being mawkish and ruin the moment. Overdramatic is okay, but the flowery language?

Personally I didn't find it to be that flowerly.

This is from the old Anime Labs Bootleg. I found this clip on YouTube of Mr Satan shooting Super Buu, I died of laughter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLmDlMZAJpQ

He's probably referring to the Bardock special. Zarbon was the one who first recommended destroying Planet Vegeta because the saiyans were rapidly growing in strength.
It was actually Beerus disguised as Zarbon #StayWoke
Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

Man the old dub lines shared bring back memories  Here are some of my favorites:

Tien: Alright, looks like I'm back on the saddle! This three-eyed cowboy is going for one last ride!

Dende: Don't piss off the god of love!

Big Green Turles: That'srighteveryoneofmyracecanbecomeagiantgorilla.

Yamcha: What was that? I'm sorry I can't understand you, I don't speak pain.
*few minutes later...*
Tien: For someone who doesn't speak pain, you sound very fluent.

Yamcha: Anyone ever tell you your mummy dresses you funny?

For me, one of my favorite lines is the goodbye that Goku gives Gohan before he teleports Cell in the original japanese Z. He tells Gohan that he did fine up to this point. But that isn't even the best part. We see Goku display a side of him we've rarely ever seen. He admits that all he's ever done is whatever he selfishly wanted. It's beautiful, surprising, and scary all at the same time. He tells Gohan to tell Chi Chi he's sorry for giving her a hard time and then just disappears instantly. It happens in less than a minute and yet it has such an overwhelming effect.

Not so much a line, as more of a speech. But it's the best dub added-in dialogue FUNimation have ever done for Dragon Ball Z.

"Wake up! Majin Buu's eaten everyone we care about! Everyone is gone, even Bulma! They've become part of Buu, they can't even die! I just thought the least we could do is put our old differences aside, just this once, and really work together. We owe that to our teammates, our families Vegeta, our friends! Look, you've always talked about our Saiyan race, how we're the last of a mighty people. Well it's time we accept we're starting a new race, one that can be just as strong, just as proud! But not if we're caught up in so much of our old birthrights to see what we have right in front of us! We've lost our old race Vegeta... let's not lose this one, too!"
- Goku, DBZ, EP 268
