I really like Blade's post about how Bulma's introduction is closer to being a Sue's than Trunks' is. It's quite true - Trunks' so called Mary Sue traits are a lot of things that aren't even out of place in Dragon Ball's universe.

Also, while everyone harps on about his so called "unique" / "unusual" hair colour, that's a straight up lie. His hair isn't unique at all - he's got the same hair colour as his mother, and it'd only be unique for a species he's not part of. Saiyan/Earthling hybrids are not pure Saiyans, and Dragon Ball already established Earthlings having such hair colour.
If everyone in the show at some point has an "unusual" hair colour, how can he be a Sue for having it himself? Do people realize what they're even reading when doing these absurd tests? If Bulma's hair is originally purple than his isnt actually unusual.

And Bulma being a Sue? Smh..... really? Shes the most flawed reaccuring human character in the series. Blue hair alone shouldnt be enough for the entire generalization.

If any character is a legit Sue its Beerus, and Gotenks. Not because of some arbitrary abstract questionare but by their behaviour: (the actual basis of reasoning for applicable claims for the Sue label.) and contrast to the established knowns of the universe & and their personalties reflecting underearned statures.

If that's all you want, then all you want is fanservice, rather than an actual coherent story. And of course those aren't mutually exclusive; you could have a coherent story with "shine" moments! But if a story is perfectly coherent (and I'm really not seeing any compelling arguments that this one is anything but, despite constantly recurring, really poorly reasoned, attempts to argue otherwise), and you're bemoaning the lack of "shine" moments as a reason for the story's poor quality, then you're letting your thirst for "shine" moments obfuscate your ability to detect basic storytelling when it's right in front of you.
