The odd body proportions really stand out, they literally look like skinny barbie dolls with long arms. I've seen people complain about the eyes being too close together and the faces being too narrow, I'd hate to diss it if that was intended because that was how the manga itself looked but..It just doesnt seem to translate very well consistantly.

Though I never got over how skinny the girls are. It just looks more noticable than it used to.
Sylveon wrote:... Are Dragon Ball fans of all people really complaining about Sailor Moon allegedly sexualizing teenage girls? I don't recall Sailor Moon ever getting her tube top ripped off or being sexually harrassed by a 400 year old man or wearing a bunny suit for half a story arc.
Not that the occasional panty shots in Sailor Moon weren't problematic of course, but they would be even more problematic if they actually looked 14.
I dont know where you're getting that from, I was referring to the art direction itself.
Also, the fanservice in SM is my standard of appropriate. Compared to what we have to deal with today... SM is just a tease.

But if a story is perfectly coherent (and I'm really not seeing any compelling arguments that this one is anything but, despite constantly recurring, really poorly reasoned, attempts to argue otherwise), and you're bemoaning the lack of "shine" moments as a reason for the story's poor quality, then you're letting your thirst for "shine" moments obfuscate your ability to detect basic storytelling when it's right in front of you.

Well some feel it doesn't look close to the comic
I'm also going to note Toei reanimated Saint Seiya but not DBZ. Although I think the former was more of a sequel.

Is it weird that this oddly reminds me of MLP's design? Probably.
Not saying it's bad but it looks inferior to the original animation.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:

I'm surprised this topic has lasted this long, actually.
As much as a re-animated Dragon Ball would be awesome, I do see why they decided to go the cheaper route here. I am PO'd that the music doesn't always get released, though. Especially Funimation's music, it seems.
I hope I'm not being too off topic or anything, but I was considering getting into this anime. Is there anything in it that a guy who likes anime can enjoy? (And no, I don't care about skirts, I'm like Piccolo if you catch my meaning).

Back in 90's this aired in my country and I think it still does, so from what I remember I liked it for the battles, transformations they went through, that cute little cat and the music (especially the OP).
I might pick up the Viz Blu-rays of
Sailor Moon even though the picture quality from their own comparisons doesn't look very good it's still better looking than FUNimation's
DBZ Season BDs in comparison. Oh yeah, hope they'll be Region B compatible although the Ranma 1/2 weren't so that might not happen.

Hmm, I think I'll get the DVDs Viz puts out, then. Never seen it before, but I've got a good feeling about this, I suppose. Character designs are good, so yep. I was thinking, though. Aren't Dragon Ball and Sailor Moon exact opposites in many areas? Sounds intriguing nonetheless.

The original renders looked better, ignoring their faces - their body types looked more natural.

So basically, Yamcha needs to give Usagi a sandwich. Crystal Usagi too damn skinny.

Ah yes, they'll be releasing it on DVD too so I'll just get the series on DVD.
I personally wouldn't have minded unfiltered footage on Blu-ray which possibly would've looked better but Viz is like FUNimation, trying to make old shows look new.

Honestly, I much rather prefer the Kai treatment to a whole new anime. I don't really like the current style of anime and do really like the fact that they used footage from the DBZ era. It helps bring the nostalgia, and it allows DBZ to retain its older spirit.

They've changed my life - changed the way I act on the earth. Doesn't that make them kind of real? They might be imaginary but, but they're more important than most of us here. And they're all gonna be around here long after we're dead. So, in a way, those things are more realer than any of us.

The animators for the new DBZ stuff is way too inconsistant for me to want a reanimation. In general a lot of what Toei's reanimated things in general look pretty bad overall. BoG didnt even look that visually good in comparison to better scenes. I honestly thought the Opening for Kai-Buu saga and the Budokai 2 Opening looked better than most of BoG.

The real reason Togashi will never finish HunterxHunter has been revealed! He's only been able to get the manga back into serialization because Takeuchi is too busy working on Crystal!
Saint Seiya Omega isn't a remake. It's a anime-only sequel.

It's GT if GT didn't star any of the characters from the original series.

But it at least has Toru Furuya, right?
I know tons of people boycotting Crystal due to the lack of Yamcha.

I rather they use money for Battle of Gods sequel instead wasting it to remake something that was done awesome in the past.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.
Favourite old DB Animators: Masaki Sato and Tadayoshi Yamamuro
Favourite new DB Animators: Yuya Takahashi and Chikashi Kubota

From what i see, some fans complain more about Ms. Hisakawa not reprise her role as Ami/Sailor Mercury, and want people to boycott show, i can understand they are worried, but it`s kinda disrespectful for Ms.Kanemoto and others who work on this show, I'm sure some fans would react same way for Dragon Ball recast.

I would have loved if they invested in more editors or better writing for the movies AT works on today.

I'd like a bigger animation budget in a potential BOG sequel. Spend more money on higher skilled key animators instead of wasting money on awkward-looking CGI, imo.
On hiatus.

Yeah. The originals looked better, more balanced and a bit chubby to make them not look too thin which the new ones flop in doing so.
If Toei were to animate
Dragon Ball then something like what they've done for Kai OPs/EDs because this isn't a good example of something to follow.
