Blu-rays are totally cool! As long as the source is legitimate and untouched, I'm fine with whatever gets used. If someone wants to post a version of the same screenshot from a different source, that's great too.

Is that Blu-ray entirely untouched? I don't own them so I wouldn't know. Those dark areas are crazy blocky for an official release, damn!

It was a screencap my friend sent to me so I got no clue, I might go buy the BD for movie 3 since it's my fave movie and I'll be able to find out if it's legit or not. (By the looks of the pic it is because it doesn't look DBNL terrible but I'm not sure)

How's this on quality?

Image

I physically put the disc in, screen captured the image piece by piece, put it together in Photoshop (to edit out any inconsistencies in the aura), and then saved as a PNG. I captured the image at full screen and this is the original size (all I did was get rid of the black bars on the sides). This comes from "Dragon Ball Z Kai Part Six."

Then again, I did the same with my earlier Goku image (except I used the Dragon Box and made it smaller for the sake of not having a giant image in the Thread). I'm curious how I could make the quality even better or more original.

Don't know if we're allowing .gifs in here, but this one always captivated me.

The first use of a Super Saiyan 3 Son Gokuu without his shirt was animated by Shida Naotoshi for One Piece Episode #590. This close-up cut specifically was one of my favorites in the episode thanks to the love Shida gave the drawing.

What happened? The colors look very dark, brown, and saturated. You shouldn't mess with the colors at all.

Here's a proper pan from Kai I took a couple of years ago:

Here's the Goku one, which I think I posted in the Camera Pan thread a few years ago:

I did wonder about the colours. I wasn't 100% sure on whether that was just an effect from the aura or something Kai related. It'd been a while since I'd watched Kai so I wasn't sure.

Thanks for posting the proper one!

Here's a GIF I made recently of this scene (I used Season 2 because it was on hand):

lol I didn't mess with the colors at all. I guess maybe it's a setting I have on the Blu-ray player.

I'd definitely look for anything involving dynamic contrast or sharpening and turn it all off.

I looked through my settings. Apparently there was some "Theater" effect or something. I turned it off.

I wanted to add this picture because when I was young and Dragon Ball Z kept going through a loop of the first 60-something episodes and the first three movies, I really liked this one. Also, I loved how Peter Kelamis delivered the "Kaio-ken" line, where the "Kaio" part sounded kind of like the Japanese version, and then the "Ken" part was more deep as he broke through the ice. Plus, the visual was so cool. This is the picture that taught me to draw the characters with their mouths wide open and their heads tilted back.

I took two versiosn of this, one from the FUNimation Blu-ray, and the other from the Dragon Box. The reason being that I know a lot of people see the Dragon Box version as being the best version. To be honest, I really like how the FUNimation Blu-ray pops out in color. Hope it's okay.

That's fine. Also, the colors look correct now, so it definitely was that setting.

I also like FUNi's Double Feature colors, though movies 1 and 6 are too bright at times.

This is an 80s/90s animated all-ages show that was popular amongst kids. It's not some potent super weapon that might fall into the wrong hands that we have to protect from evil.

This just goes to show you how nice the original series looked. Beautiful. People say low budget, but seriously, it looks so nice compared to modern day equivalent anime of the same series or other series. Especially those Maeda episodes. Gorgeous artwork.
My favourite art style (and animation) outside Toriyama who worked on Dragon Ball: Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, Masaki Satō, Minoru Maeda, Takeo Ide, Hisashi Eguchi, Katsumi Aoshima, Tomekichi Takeuchi, Masahiro Shimanuki, Kazuya Hisada
