It conveniently has the same letters as GT, and I'm mostly poking a little fun at Funi's marketing of the series as well as that music in the background.

Or it's just what he decided GT stands for? I don't know.
Well, technically the version I'm watching doesn't have that rap intro, but it does have all that gangsta music in the background. Just a little fun naming.

Sorry for the Double Post, but here's an update. I have now seen the entire Super 17 Saga, the most infamous part of the series to many.

-That was the fastest Tournament I've ever seen. It only took one episode.
-It's no nice seeing those old characters again, especially Cell and Frieza! We also get appearances from Nappa, General Blue, and Officer Black among others. I miss those guys...
-New ending theme is really awesome! Plenty of shots inspired by the first two series.
-They refer to Hell by name a LOT in these episodes, but The Next Dimension actually gets dropped for the first time ever in the uncut dub. (Not counting "Wish Back to Our Dimension" from Namek)
-This Saga isn't bad in my opinion, but not perfect by any means. They should've made better use of the characters from Hell and 17's struggle should've been displayed better.

I completely forgot that the Super 17 saga even had a tournament.
Cool stuff that I upload here because Youtube will copyright claim it: https://vimeo.com/user60967147

I completely forgot this topic is about GT. The tiltle is so misleading, that I always ignore it.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

It was the most meaningless tournament ever. It contributed jackshit to the plot. You could really tell Toei had officially ran out of ideas for GT by that stage.

Gt from beginning to end is full of good ideas but for some reason they didn't know how to execute them.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

The World Tournament in GT felt like it was fan service to the people who are nostalgic to the first DB series. That's probably why Goku didn't return back to adult after Bebi since they probably thought "Won't it be cute if we had Goku enter the next Tenkachi Budokai as a kid? It will bring back good memories from the good old days.".

The Tournament was hardly an irrelevant start of the Super 17 Saga but something to end the Baby Saga on a light note. So it had a purpose.

Uub vs Satan scene was great. Especially when Buu told to Uub that he shouldn't beat him.
Loved it.

That true. I guess missing Toriyama was the key factor.
Who ever thought we would have him back, writing movies for us, after 17 years?! Miracles happen and some people only bitch about it.

While I personally liked BoG (can't comment on RF yet), I don't think they're incapable of producing good material without him. Bardock: The Father of Goku, the first Cooler movie, Fusion Reborn and Wrath of the Dragon I enjoyed quite a lot, and, say, Dead Zone and World's Strongest were decent.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed most of their movies. They aren't incapable at all!

Bardock The Father of Goku and History of Trunks are both masterpieces and the best OVAs I ever saw.
Woudn't change anything in them (maybe a Raditz and Gine cameo in the first one, but that's it).

And while I enjoy GT. I was just wondering how it would play out if Toriyama was involved. Because like Sintzu said, the good ideas were there all along.

Not to get super pedantic in return, but re: "plotholes," I really think there's some selective reasoning being applied here vs. earleir parts of the series. And this isn't to single Captain Space out, as a lot of these are fairly trafficked complaints among the community.
Captain Space wrote:Like Pilaf's gang finding and getting up to the Lookout, knowing about the Black Star Dragon Balls
The same Pilaf gang who find Piccolo's rice cooker in the original series? As for the accessibility of the lookout, that started with Toriyama. Pilaf's done his homework, I guess, but mystical research seems to be one of the few real talents he has.
a failure to use the regular Dragon Balls in any way to aid in the Black Star hunt,
So we could be treated to an explanation from Shen-Long about why his powers can't help this time, as has occurred in the past to prevent easy solutions?
the sheer amount of faffing about on Imecka when their problems were all easily solvable and it was clear Don Kee was a problem
There is some faffery re: getting their spaceship back when they could Rambo their way through, for sure. But they can't go around deposing dictators on planets they barely understand, which Trunks points out near the end of their first episode there.
the way Ledgic knew they were all saiyans somehow (despite only one of them looking anything like a saiyan, and even he didn't have a tail)
Characters magically sussed this out on Namek as well. (And it makes sense that in terms of human-looking species, they'd be more recognizable than Earthlings, who haven't yet branched out into space.)
the fact that Ledgic left Don Kee due to finding him dishonourable and such despite having happily served him for years for some reason,
Well, Don Kee was also being removed from power at that time. So ... golden handcuffs? 20/20 hindsight? It's not nuanced stuff, but neither are most incidental character arcs in Dragon Ball.
and...well, sure, I can accept that GT base Goku is Buu-level, whatever, but if he needs to go SSJ to beat Ledgic...if Ledgic was so powerful, where did he come from?! What exactly is he? What was he doing all this time? How did he ever find a worthy opponent before?
I don't believe base GT Goku is Boo-level. The series is notoriously murky on its starting powers, but there's quite a viable read that doesnt have Goku all that much stronger than he is at the end of Z.

I will agree that Imecka isn't a particularly compelling way to start the series, though.

I remember he said that the Black Dragon Balls where made when Piccolo and Kami where still one Namek. How does Pilaf know what a Namek is when no one knew about them until Nappa and Vegeta brought it up in the Saiyan saga?

How can someone still have a problem with the power of Base Goku after liking his power ups in Battle of Gods and Resurrection F? He literally is so powerful.

GT had only one really - nah ... - moment for me and it will always stay like that. That is Cell reusing his tail and even being able to potentially absorb others that are not 17 and 18 with it as a whole. If Dragon Ball were mine, I would immeditaley retcon that.

Because his supposed "Stronger forms" proceed to be weaker than his base form

It might have been a dubbed line or something, I haven't seen the first episode of GT in ages.

That was never said. Super Saiyajin costs more effort but that's it. This whole "Super Saiyajin God Super Saiyajin" even shows there are still stronger levels than the normal Super Saiyajin God. Basically the Super Saiyajin forms we see in GT could all be SSJGSSJ just not coloured blue.

Agreed. That moment is bonkers. I'd definitely take it out.

But it's also not so bonkers that I'd immediately cry foul on it if appeared in the manga. Cell shoots miniature clones out of that tail at one point, with no prior indication he could.

(It's still bad, though. Don't get me wrong.)
