I agree with you there. On another forum it's been suggested that DB is being censored so they can sell it to everyone, namely the more younger audience. The likelyhood is so they can rake in more money with the DB name. I think it's a shame they're doing this, especally when they originally promised us the uncut version (if my memory serves me correctly).

I don't have a problem with an edited version as long as they simultaneously release an unedited version for the fans. Funimation could have gone an edited-only route like Viz or 4Kids, but they listened to us. Viz needs to do the same. Doesn't it seem like they could actually make more money this way, because more people would be interested?

I agree. For example I know of a large number of One Piece fans who stopped reading the series due to Viz's changes. In their eyes if Viz made it more true to the original, they'd probably continue to buy it. Personally I don't see them as being anything major and currently I don't see the need to stop but we're all different.

Frankly I'm just going to keep buying the DBZ graphic novels so I have all 42 available to me. They're not perfect and at this moment in time its unlikely a perfect version will be done. I can't read Japanese either so Viz's work will do for me.

That's a healthy atitude to have. "Don't stress over it, just take it as it comes." That's what I do.

True but remember, Ranma was first starting to be translated by Viz in comic form back in 1994-1995. Back then it was very very rare for manga to be published in the US and Canada in the right-to-left form. Inuyasha started a few years later when thus was still rare.

That's also true, but back then they were also using a different format. (The enlarged Graphic Novels you can still find at certain bookstores.) When they switched to the new standard format, which was only a few years ago, they should have unflipped them.
So zetta slow

I love both of you.

Viz isn't perfect, but if you look at the big picture, they've done a great job and made an amazing Manga available to us through legal means. So long as you know of the alterations and where they are, then why fret?

i've got Dragon Ball 1-16 and DBZ 1-24...thats japanese Dragon Ball 1-40 and i've read 95% (not a lot of the newer dbz ones though) at least 6 or 7 times each...there was one day when i read vol. 1-16 of dragon ball straight through. It's really wierd going through 6 or 7 years of a story in less than a day lol.

Wow  , the entire dragonball series on a day? Darn, I only read strictly 3 chapters a day. Can you give the time when you started all the way till you finish, I'll try to beat that :D which by the way I dont I would have the stomach to do that. :!:

Heh. The only one I own is Volume 20. I attempted to start buying them once SJ USA stopped running DbZ in the magazine, but I never got past this one. I'll probably buy a couple more... once I get some $...

By the way I just saw US vol 25 and the other terrorist's gun has been turned back into a machine gun. Even with the usual "BUDDA BUDDA BUDDA" sound effects those usually have.

I'd bet 10 bucks that it was just "Is this the end of Son Goku?!!" or something similar.

I don't think Viz changed the guns in this volume because no humans were on the recieving end of the bullets. Plus, that one guys gun looks very laser-gun'ish anyway...though, Mr. Satan .45 is pretty obvious.

And...

Super Kamikaze Ghost Strike!!
