Late-night animes (the ones which are one, two cours at most) very rarely have breaks, that's why they usually end up with the planned episode count. There's no sports or other events airing at, say, 2am after all.

Now for daytime/primetime shows, breaks happen. Fuji's Dream 9 in particular always take 3-4 weeks off every year, so for a show to have exactly 52 episodes it would have to "steal" weeks from the next series, making it debut out of season. People who follow yearly Toei shows like Sentai, Kamen Rider or Precure, know this is a no-no. These franchises get 52 weeks, but nowadays each season always ends up with 48-50 episodes, thanks to the breaks, with rare exceptions.

Still, when something happens and a short late-night anime actually has an unexpected break, they end up with no timeslots to air the remaining episode(s), since there's a new show starting the following season that can't be delayed, for the reasons above. Then they are either delayed until a timeslot is available or released straight on home video. This isn't very uncommon.

TL;DR: if Toei has a new show planned to replace Super after a one-year run, then it will have to debut in the first weekend, or second at most, of July, when DBS will be at least three weeks short of 52 episodes. Just to stay with Toei, that's why Saint Seiya Omega (97 episodes) and Toriko (147), for instance, had those uneven episode counts.

I think the "52" episode count as quoted by Toonami Asia is correct for the time being. They may have mapped out how they were going to cover the 3 Arcs in order to have enough episodes for the amount of cours they wanted to air it for.
This way, if the merchandise wasn't selling, and the viewing figures were poor, they could finish the series, and the Arcs would have been covered.

I think it's obvious that at this point, (unless Toriyama Sensei is already at work giving them more Story drafts & character designs) Toei doesn't know how long they expect this series to run for. Its purpose is to sell merchandise, and until Toei & Bandai get their yearly fiscal financial report in, they won't know how that merchandise has performed.

Ultimately, the merchandising, and to a lesser extent - the viewing figures, will be the determining factors as to whether or not Super has a long run on Fuji TV. As I understand, it's performing well enough ratings wise - and we've yet to reach the entirely new content, so it's possible people aren't watching at the moment until they start U6.
When they do eventually get there, they may even advertise Super more aggressively, and say "look, we've reached the new material now, come and watch it!" which may very well pull in even more viewers, and boost those ratings somewhat even more.

But, if the merchandise isn't selling, then Super isn't doing what it is intended to - that may lead to it being cancelled also. There are many factors, bottom line is this - if we want more Super, then we need good, consistent viewing figures (no company would pay to produce a series which nobody is watching) & merchandise sales.
If those are good, then it comes down to if Toriyama Sensei is happy to continue giving them Story drafts & character designs. As far as I'm aware, I've read somewhere on one of the Kanzenshuu articles that he is enjoying not having to draw weekly manga, and so is enjoying himself at the moment. I apologize if I've got that wrong, or misunderstood. Though, if that is true, then we stand a good chance at getting more content.

I am pretty sure that Animax will do the Toonami Asia premier dub. Animax usually dub things in English first, and they are NOT good at dubbing. Creative Product Corp and Speedy (which made a horrible DBZ English dub) have made English dubs in Asia.

Here is the Creative Product Corp English dub from the Phillipines (it is average/decent, sure as hell is better than Big Green Dub): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWww3wVGyXo

Do you guys know of any other companies in Asia that make English dubs for anime? There was an Asian English dub for Digimon that was actually decent.

Fair enough, but if the contract guarantees Time Warner that Toei will deliver them 52 episodes and Toei is adamant on on starting season 2 in July, then it means the decision for Season 2 has already been made and Time Warner has airing rights to at least 1-3 episodes from Season 2. So why not make a deal for 97-100 episodes from the get-go, full 2 seasons? Doesn't make much sense for Toei to try to sell 1 full season along with barely 2 episodes other season and it doesn't make sense for Time Warner to buy 1 full season and just 2 episodes from the next one

We're imagining [Dragon Ball Super's premiere] will be around July/August - not too much longer to wait!

That is certainly in line with July/August frame, wonder if any Kanzenshuu-ers are from India.

On second thought, I don't know if that's an official account ...

Toonami Asia is airing a lot of DBZ this month, so Super being next month would make sense.
