Which characters/scenes had "more to it" in Dubs?

For Z, oh hell yeah. For Kai, I respectfully disagree. I think the dub is better than the original in terms of the voice acting.

For me accuracy is a bonus as opposed to a need

I think so. Would you change a novel like Tom Sawyer if you were translating it for a foreign audience? DB is already entertaining.

I get that it was just exposition and it could've been dramatically more interesting if it wasn't Vegeta just explaining things, but it still kinda works as Vegeta explaining to Goku why he's screwed and 2 - even if it was only exposition, it's still far better than the ridiculous line that's proven to not be true.

The line i copied got that across too without the need to share with the viewers exposition. For me the original did not add to the plot or any characterization.

I guess this is because I never liked Ocean dub, but that line in particular is just laughably bad in my opinion.
Especially after watching the Bardock special.
I forget what the original line exactly is but I'm sure it's better than that lol

I do agree there are points where some boring (But Minor, keep this in mind) original lines can be played with a bit, like in the Pretty Cure dub. We know why the villains do what they do so when Hanna (Honoka in the original) asks Pissard "Why Are you doing this!?" the dubbers had him say playfully "Tee Hee, I dunno" in a Joker ish way.

I think it was Vegeta explaining Bruitz Waves and how they change Saiyans into Great Apes. I think he also tells Goku that it was a mistake to take off his tail because his power will drop a bit by creating the artificial moonlight but will increase 10 fold in his transformed state.

Inaccuracy is why we have so many arguements in this community today. Of course we need it! If everything was accurate then there would be less fighting about which line was true or power levels or how characters felt about one another. When it all comes down to it, most of these arguments start because someone watched an inaccurate version and someone watched the accurate version. People really take this stuff seriously. Not to mention it's kinda an insult to an author to change his story purposely. It's what he wrote and what he intended. I'm not saying that Dragon Ball has to be 100% accurate to the japanese translation, because then the dialogue would sound awkward. The translation just needs to be accurate enough to where we can understand what the author was fully trying to convey.

First and foremost I do not mean to antagonize people, i just have an opinion that many dont agree with. My aim is simply to get my point of view across and not offend or annoy.

i do think they could have stuck closer to the original and improve on it at once but again, Saban might have figured the target audience would not particularly care for the line as it was so we got the one i quoted earlier...of course nobody actually believes its true

But I'm willing to come to a compromise and say both versions of the scene could be better, I'm willing to admit when my favorite versions of the show screw up and they have done so many times.

I was first introduced to the franchise in 1996 with the airing of the Ocean/Saban/Funimation dub of Z. When they switched over to the in-house Texas cast in Season 3, I couldn't stand the replacement voices. This lasted for a while, but eventually those voices grew on me, and now I've consumed every iteration of the franchise from DB to Z to GT to Kai with that cast and actually enjoy them quite a bit now.

As for my experience with the original Japanese version of Z, I watched it all the way through in 2009, around the time Kai was coming out. It started out extremely difficult for me to get through it, but the voices (for the most part) grew on me. The music was incredible right out of the gate. But as for Nozawa's Goku voice, I just can't handle it. Her acting is on-point and it perfectly matches Goku's character. That said, he doesn't need to have a high-pitched voice to portray the fact that he is an uneducated hick. Nozawa worked very well for me when Goku was kid, but I feel that they should have re-cast the part once he became an adult.

That doesn't matter because it's clearly not true once you see the Bardock special. It's not even canon in the dub.

Where did you hear that? Both the FUNi dub and JPN version use the dual voices. every appearance of Vegetto, Gotenks (and Gogeta) in the games use it too so it's odd to think that would do otherwise

There is no dub canon. It was a bad line in the script. Even in the infancy of DB on the net, it wouldn't have taken that long to find out that Bardock wasn't a scientist.
