Hah that is a pretty good indication .
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!
Spoiler:
Doctor. wrote:I've explained before, I'll just paraphrase myself.
Power levels establish tension and drama. People who care about them (well, people who care about them in a narrative) don't care about the big numbers or the fancy explosions. If you have character A who's so much above character B, who's the main character, you're gonna be left wondering how in the hell character B, the character we're supposed to care and root for, is going to escape the situation or overcome the odds. It makes us emotionally invested.
If character B doesn't escape the situation in a believable way that's consistent with previous events, then that emotional investment is gone. It was pointless tension, pointless drama made just to suck in the viewer. It has no critical value whatsoever. The audience is left believing that the author can just create whatever scenarios he wants and what happens to the characters is decided by whatever the author wants to happen, regardless of the events that happened in the story. Which, in fairness, is what happens, but the audience wants to be fooled. The audience wants to know that the world they're following has rules. That the world they're invested in isn't going to bend to external factors that are irrelevant to them.
An author can do whatever he wants with the characters, that's not false. But the author should also have the responsibility to make sure it fits in cohesively with the other events in the narrative he has created.
I'm going to air on the side of this arc not being intrinsically linked to Toriyama's script until it's otherwise confirmed. Like others have mentioned, it does seem to be the first of its kind as an exclusively created arc of Toei's design with earnest subject matter being in focus. It's canon to the foremost iteration of Super which is the anime. One of the positives of the arc is the potential glimpse into Hit's previously mentioned assassination specialty techniques.

We were previously told of Hit's special assassination techniques; maybe we'll get to see them! That could be one of the positives of this arc.

Fixed that for you. Goten was at least part of the crowd in the Champa arc.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

Goku didn't train in the time chamber .

Would they really debut Hits killing techniques in filler though? To bring him back in back in such a significant way and with Goku dying seems a bit ambitious for filler.
What ever happened to this
"According to the live stream of Heroes, the new arc from the original draft by Toriyama will be showcased in December 2016 at Jump Fiesta. The Jump Fiesta is scheduled for Dec. 7-8, 2016 and we can expect the new arc of "Dragon Ball Super" by Toriyama."

It's the 13th and I've heard nothing.
Jump Festa is actually on the weekend the Hit episode airs. We'll find out then.

Why can't filler be ambitious?
Dragon Ball was always a kid series and fans should stop being in denial.
Hit kills Goku in Episode 72 and than starts the new arc in january a investigation why they killed him and of course to learn more about Hit and
Universe 6...
For people saying "isn't Goku stronger than Hit then how will he "lose"?" I remind that assassins were never known for their muscles but their assassination techniques and their abilities to plan the perfect murders.
Some of the best assassins don't even face their opponents. They just sniper them from a distance.
My idea is that hit's move will be a combination of zero presence and a sniper strike in a blind spot like the back of the neck.

Being able to hide your presence is the perk I pick up first, it's so broken when used right
The Lord moves in mysterious ways but you don't have to. Please use your blinker
It's most certainly filler. It's only going to last two episodes.

I have no clue. Maybe Hit kills Goku and then realise the errors of his way and try to revive him?
I don't know.

So we're getting another 6 episodes worth of filler of which 2 of those are part of this Hit stuff?
And going by Toyotaro's comment about the manga being ahead soon then wouldn't this new Universe Survival arc have to start in the January issue? Which would mean the upcoming chapter that'll be released in a few days will be the last one of the Future Trunks arc.
