I think the main issue people have is where does the energy come from? If its off stage isn't that cheating? Maybe Roshi and the Mafuba were a set up to show Zeno will let things slide...but how would you even gather it out of the arena?

I'm personally in wait and see mode. It could make sense or be another Genki Dama sword.

Side note...my phone changes Genki Dama to "Gecko Dems"
I'm thinking he'll get the energy from Whis, Kaioshin, Beerus and the rest of team Universe 7.
wouldn't this be considered outside interference, like Frost did?

I think the spirit bomb will fail and Jiren will manage to deflect it and bounce it off. Jiren, as far as we know, isn't pure evil so the spirit bomb won't be attracted to him to the point of overwhelming him like with Frieza and Kid Buu. Goku might be able to beat Jiren somehow, but it won't be with the spirit bomb. It's too soon for Jiren to just get defeated at this point either way. It's set to fail.

Knowing TOEI this could very well be the case, that Jiren finally goes "alright, everyone's has their fun time to end this" and one shots every member of U2, U3, and U4 and some members of U6 and U7 before the fight starts. They've hyped up those invisible members of U4 before but we've seen how they've hyped up characters like Narirama and then have them get casually one shotted so it wouldn't surprise me if they just get randomly wiped out.

Things like Piccolo vs the Namekians, Toppo vs Vegeta/Freeza/Gohan, Hit vs Jiren/Vegeta and what to do with the U6 Saiyans still needs to pan out though so I think no matter what happens there's going to be other fighting going on and this isn't anywhere close to the end of the tournament, especially since we have 29 minutes left I believe? That is a lot of time.

I hate that they're making Goku go all out and use the spirit bomb this early, but I'll have to reserve judgement until I actually see the episode.
Yea I'm also leaning towards one-shotting occurring to display Jiren the Gray power. I just wish someone would cause Jiren some difficulty before we see Goku fight Jiren. I was hyped Maji-Kayo getting a chance against Jiren because Maji-Kayo reminds me of Majin Buu with his transformative body so I thought it'd be interesting. But those hopes were immediately crushed

I know how you feel Gohan, you are gentle, you do not like to hurt. I know because I too have learned these feelings. But it is because you cherish life that you must protect it. Please drop your restraints. Protect the life I once loved. You have the strength, my scanners sensed it..." -Android 16

Has everyone forgot that Goku isn't trying to Kill Jiren, just defeat him. So, using the Genki-Dama in this case should still be acceptable even if it did only "works against evil people!"

What if the Genki Dama is actually what helps Goku get to his new form/technique? Like Jiren deflects it, it hits Goku, we think Goku is out for the count. Jiren walks up to throw him off the ring and Hit saves Goku's skin. Then Goku is going through some transformation of sorts while Hit vs Jiren takes place?

I think Jiren might actually just be a filler character to hype up another character, the one we haven't seen yet. The mystery character comes out, and beats Jiren, then everyone has an even bigger threat, and boom! Gohan AND Goku need their new forms in order to save their universe. Did you just get chills in your underwear area? You're welcome!

I wouldn't be hyped for that scenario at all tbh.

So Goku Is trying to Kill Jiren? There's no reason why he'd use a technique like that on someone he Isn't trying to kill. He's also endangering those around him substantially since he's using x20. Probably another "hype" thing to make fans go "oh my gooood"
