Z or Original Dragon Ball? Which do you prefer and why?

I love DB. In fact, a redo of DB with modern art and an anime with better art & animation is what I want most. That said, Z is better.

I just like cool art and animation[anime] packed in crap tons of fighting. Z did that stuff better and did it more often. Altho, in this same respect, I give the DB anime more credit for being more consistent in its quality of art and animation. Imo, the Z anime looks like crap more than half the time; "crap" compared to its best, I mean. Toriyama's style at its best is GOAT status.

Put me in the camp that think the divide in the story of having Dragon Ball on side and Dragon Ball Z on another is not only stupid and pointless, but harmful to a potential assumptions what kind of narrative a person going into Dragon Ball blind may be expecting. Dragon Ball as a whole has its ups and down, but scattered across the narrative as a whole there are some many wonderful character and story beats -- even in arcs I'm not particularity a fan of -- that I'd be hard pressed to come to conclusion as to whether one part of the story is definitively better than the other.

For the sake of the thread, I'll say original Dragon Ball because I feel there's more consistently good story telling and less troughs in quality.

To this day I haven't watch or read OG Dragon Ball in it's entirety. I only got past Red Ribbon arc in the manga. Too busy with the ToP in Super at the moment!

I am finally done with Super! I watched episodes 96 through 131 -- the ''core'' of the Tournament of Power arc. Now I haven't watch the earlier episodes, though. Maybe I'm done by 2023. lol
