Ideal, in a world where rights issues don't exist and profitability isn't a barrier:
Full 4K restorations done via actual archivists and restoration experts, not computer programs and AI.
Presented as originally broadcast in terms of Next Episode previews, title cards, and credits.
Japanese audio
English audio with Japanese soundtrack option
English audio with American soundtrack option
English dub options (Funi, Ocean, gimme all of it)
With the Ocean dubs, whenever possible, re-edit the show to lose less content. If the sequence, scene, or episode in question doesn't exist under that dub, slot in the Funi dub, but allow for a toggle option. One can watch it as released, or watch it with the scenes re-inserted.
Original aspect ratio
A new subtitle translation to ensure all errors, inconsistencies and details are correct
Bonus discs that basically archive any BTS footage, interviews, and promotional materials
Multiple chapter stops per episode to allow for quick skipping if you want/fell asleep during an episode and want to get back where you left off quickly
No censorship
Include all episodes, movies, TV specials, and OVAs.
Absolute pie-in-the-sky, lack of reality: ability to pick the audio option on a per-character basis.
^ I would pay TOP DOLLAR for this.
What I feel like SHOULD exist and not even be THAT difficult, and yet, doesn't:
HD presentation
Original aspect ratio
Proper color correction
Japanese audio option
English audio option
Basically, the current Funimation releases, but with the correct aspect ratio and color correction and less DNR.
^I would buy this, too, but I'd look for a "deal" or "reasonable" price. That shouldn't even be that hard, but here we are...
