. Second, the clothes in Dragonball have been the same way for twenty years. But for Spiderman and Xmen, which have been around since the 60s, the appearance of their characters have changed a lot. Besides, the recent comic book movies weren't even that good to begin with
I think that the only once to have a major change in terms of clothing from how they are diplicted in print would be the X-men. Spiderman, Superman, and to a certain extent Batman (Begins) kept most of their outfits intact. So I really don't see a big issue with Dragonball. We have martial art movies come out in Asia were the characters have worn Gi and monk garb.

Because we're America. We pretty much own almost everything. And we can do what we want.
Besides, you know that when FUNi is consulted, they'll let them know to beware the wrath of the Dragonball fans. From personal experience.

If its CG, then its cool but if its live action movie, this is my opions.
GOOD:Yay, live action movie! Whooho!
BAD: If the movie is crappy, the fans of DBZ will hate it and hate DBZ, we will lose all the fans and DBZ will die and know as the anime with the crappy movie.

I REALLY hope its not gonna be CG! *Looks at the new TMNT movie poster* I hope not.....
And what's wrong with that? That new TMNT looks like 800 levels of awesome.

Oh man, you, crack me up.
In all honesty though I don't think they would make a movie, if they changed it from the stye it is now, sure it might make a few fans but it would loose a lot. Of course I would see the movie and give it a chance, heck you carn't knock something before you try it, but I would be really suprised if I liked it.
To be honest though, do you guys think their is a big enough audience for this movie to appeal too?

You're dumb. It's 958 levels of awesome and that's because I haven't seen the trailer on the big screen yet. My forcast is that on the big screen it's about...
OVER 9000!!!! levels of awesome.

I'm not dumb. It's at least 800. 958 is probably accurate. Over 9000? It's possible.
But as much as I love to talk about TMNT, this isn't a TMNT forum.

Whoops. I forgot to add that whole

smilie after "you're dumb". I just came out sounding like a jackass.
But, all in all, I hope DBZ doesn't get a live action movie. I hope "DBZ the Movie" is just some localization of some awesome new Toei film that condences the DBZ story. Like that would ever happen, though.

Ah, gotcha.
An all-new Toei movie, condenced storyline or not, would bring fangasms to every DBZ otaku in the world. But what would be the chances of Fox distributing it as opposed to FUNimation?

Maybe some sort of sub-license thing? I dunno.
Either way, I'd love to see it. Especially on big screen. Maybe get three or four movies overall taking on various parts of the storyline.
Of course, if the writers are talented enough, they could probably do it in one or two movies.

Anyone who said LOTR was impossible to adapt was a moron. It's such a straightforward story. A movie adaptation that really proved its critics wrong was when David Cronenberg directed an adaptation of William S. Burroughs' Naked Lunch, which if you read, you wonder how in the heck it would be possible. But he pulled it off with style.
The thing about adapting anime/manga to live action that makes it difficult though is getting the visual element right, since this is a very visual medium we are talking about, unlike literature. I personally think that DB would not translate well to live action without making extensive changes, which would anger fans and defeat the purpose of doing it. I really want someone to prove me wrong though.

Provided fans could get over the fact that his hair isn't as wild as Goku's but still pretty wild looking, he looks like he would make a good Goku when only basing it on looks.
Maybe if visual style was that big of a deal something like Appleseed or Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children could be done where it's all motion capture, voice acting, and then rendering the art style with CG to bring it all together.

Can you imagine Goku with Asian eyes? As silly remark as that was. DBZ eyes have more of a Western familiarity to them...Oh that’s bullocks I guess but still. Well with the magic of film they can do it just like in the cartoon. [/i]

Yes, but when were talking about a series with an eastern setting w/ western influences. I think it's dead set that the Son family should be strictly Asian, since well...they're Asian. If I wanted an American actor like Tom Welling, this movie might as well have another name only noting Dragon Ball as an influence or inspiration, not something that it's based off of.
As far as the eyes goes, that's a pretty dead arguement. I didn't see
Cutie Honey nor
Casshern with big eyes.

Oh, 20th Century FOX is taking a new angle with the DBZ movie. Tom is playing an slightly over-weight, homeless Goku. *lol*

You know, I once heard that Jackie Chan was going to play Goku. 0.0
Yeah, that was waaaayback in 2001. Actually, I think it was even on the DBZ site!
The horrors!
