Hello,

5 days till the release. Let's get not too excited, we're talking about an AB Vidéo release ! In my book, they are even worse than funimation...

Well wait and see. I've ordered a copy, I'll give a fair review of this as soon as I get my hands on it.

It's the book that I want to know about the most. Thanks for the reminder.

Well that's just peachy. News of this book was supposed to tie me over until Harry Potter 7 came out. :P

Dayspring, you really shouldn't expect much from the booklet. It'll obviously be the usual random trivia anyone can find on the web (and they didn't look at the best sites, it seems), and the people who have written it aren't known for being true DB or anime experts, or particularly efficient in their work

News of the booklet have surfaced today. 92 pages, 6 for a Toriyama bio, 19 for DB (including a 7-pages general DB presentation, and 6 pages for each of the 3 movies), 43 for DBZ (same as above, 7 pages of intro about DBZ, and then 6 pages for each of the 7 DBZ movies). About 5 pages for something called "dossiers", and the remaining pages for the editor staff.

We've seen scan from 3 or 4 pages, including the 1st of the DBZ presentation, and it states that the Z means "Zeta, which means 2". Which answers the question of the overall "quality" of this "thing"...

Ok, but is it possible that pages 17-85 (or even 95) taken from the daizenshuu? It seems hard to make up 92 pages of pure crap...

While it is not strictly impossible, it's highly unlikely...As I've said, you shouldn't expect much.

For that, AB would have to secure the rights of the Daizenshû first, and there's no reason they would do that, because it costs a lot, and AB never cared much about diehard fans, so they're not going to pay thousands of euros and go through the tedious process of licence acquisition with Tôei or Shueisha (who are already making things difficult as they want to approve everything concerning cover artworks), when they can save money (and time) by letting 3 guys steal everything they can from crappy websites.
Concidering this is their first set ever that includes the original japanese dub, you can guess that AB doesn't really take fans into consideration. This box set exists only because a few fans have made it into AB's staff and persuaded their boss to give the green light. They're obviously not going to spend so much money when they're already making huge efforts to release their 1st box set with subs, while their previous ultra-censored french dub-only DVDs were a total success...The fact they're making these DVDs is already a treat for the fans.

And yes, concidering what we've already seen from the booklet, it seems quite easy to write 100 pages of crap. The intros and bio can be directly taken from the web (and it seems to be the case with their explanation of the Z), and 7 pages for each movie can easily be filled with summaries and a lot of screen caps, trivial bios for each of the characters, etc.

Hello,

Not true, their first DBGT dvd release vol1 had Japanese track.

Yeah you're right sangofe, yet they have only released one dvd. And today they are releasing Dragon Ball Gt on DVD with a french monaural soundtrack only.

Pretty lame. Let's wait and see.
Any news concerning the release of the box set? On my alapage account, they are currently saying that my set will ship in 2-9 business days.

Is it that unbelievable? Weekends aren't business days, and with the delay 9 days seems most likely. That gets you the 9th of July before shipping begins.

Thanks for the info Sangofe !
I wasn't expecting much from the booklet anyway. :D I feel more concerned about the release itself.

Even if it isn't from the daizenshuu, it still looks like a neat little booklet. Guess I'd better brush up on my French before I get the set.
