Poor Vegeta, looks like that nap by Kakarrot's chamber didn't serve him so well.

Curious, I got a question regarding Season 2. Does Goku say "Ya' wanna dance, or fight?" both at episode 67's end and in the following episode where the '99 voice takes over? If so, damn, we got ourselves a brief catch-phrase of Goku's. Say it just a few more times, Schemmel, and we can compare it to Naruto's "Believe it!". :P

I don't think he does. I'll watch it tomorrow.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Oh jesus. I don't want to turn this into another retarded debate - so I'll just say this. Dumbasses like you act like just about every frame of animation on these sets has some sort of error, and when Akira talks about how these new sets don't have problems, you guys aren't interested in all of the good pics - you guys just want him to post pics that contain glitches that are only there for half of a sceond.
Don't call him a dumbass because he chooses not to buy into FUNimation's lies. Weren't you already warned about this before? I wouldn't recommend name-calling, because that combined with the fact that you actually think these boxes are a good thing ends up putting your level of intelligence into question.

So anyone who likes the sets are considered idiots? Jeez, no wonder people on other DBZ forums hate all of the people here - always thinking that people who don't have the same opinions of the majority of the board are dumb.

Look, it's a fact that FUNi has fucked up the video. It can't be disputed.

If you like it, however, and want to continue supporting it, that's your prerogative. It doesn't make you stupid, it just means that you'll settle for less than you should have to as a consumer.

I know that. But there aren't many shots where this happens, yet the only screens that you guys want are the very few occasions where these thing happen.

And you just said that liking these sets brings my intelligence into question. I have my opinions - you have yours. It's just weird how all you guys like to do is make these things look bad and make a big deal out of things that last for a split-second.

What can bring your intelligence into question is constantly getting on the offensive and then calling other people names (such as dumbass and the other stuff Mike warned you about last time) for voicing their opinion. If you want to have a nice big discussion on just how great and perfect these sets are, you've come to the wrong forum, my friend.

Hey, how's about this one guys:

Let's discuss the topic at hand.

Yeah, the season sets have their ups and downs. Yes, ups and downs. Not supr awsum erorz, and no supr awsum dubzorz, ups and downs.

Yes. The footage is cropped. And? What are you going to do about it? Change it? I'll gladly rip off my genitalia when FUNimation decides it'll listen to your "humble" opinion.

Let's not bring back the blurring, coloring, or cropped footage. We've established all of these. We're here to discuss the season 3 box set as a product in a series of other products, because that's what it is.

So, what makes this different thus far is that almost none of the actors have been re-dubbed except for some of Sabat's lines.

Let's continue with the analyzing of this product, not the flaming of the product because of some things that we pointed out several months ago.

As a matter of fact, he does repeat it. It's the exact same wording, too; only the delivery is different.

I agree with Supa Saiya-Jin Tullece. I personally though, like the new seasons because I thought every actor on the Ocean dub sounded like they got picked up from the streets and bribed with crack to do some VA work. Honestly, after hearing Piccolo's voice in the series, and all the henchmen's voice in movie 3, I thought i was going to go on a future killing spree. It seriously had me thinking that english VA work wasn't a job at all. Mix that with crappy writing, and bam. You got early Ocean, FUNi dbz. Season 1 was awesome, the dude that voices Raditz did a damn good job, and listening to Nappa make sense was cool as well. I remember when Goku smacks him down in the Ocean dub, he says something like this with NO pauses at all. "WHAT'S GOING ON. OH MAN THIS STINKS. NOW WHAT?". Shitty work with no emotion. So in my point, I don't care about it being a little cropped...I love the marathon feature, the good voice acting, the pretty colors, and the cursing (whoohoo!). Season 3 might not have changed that much, but it didn't really need that much change. My main concern is that they wipe out the horrible music, sound effects, and voice acting in Seasons 1 and 2 from Ocean and early FUNi trying to copy Ocean. I mean, c'mon they saved us from hearing Freeza say "These balls bring me something that resembles joy I think, I want to caress them..." The only good thing to come out of the Ocean dub is the 9000 line. It's supposed to be 8000 anyhow.

There's one quote that always sticks in my mind when I think of the Freeza saga..."What are you?!" "Ally to good! Nightmare to you!". I hope thats still in there, that's classic. Anyhow, I've watched Seasons 1 and 2, and I'm not going to stop, I'm getting 3 soon. Also I have a question, I know that the whole season can't just be Freeza fighting, does Garlick Jr. show his face on season 3?

If I heard right, this one doesn't actually end with Freeza's death... Not even the end of the SSJ fight. I really really hope not...

EDIT: It ends on episode 107, "Goku's Alive!" This is right after Namek explodes, and everyone tries to wish Goku back, but find out he survived the battle.

Well. I was kinda hoping for the Garlick Jr. stuff, I've seen that whole saga only once. And it's good to hear that it ends after Namek explodes, and doesn't stop before the finale. Thanks for looking it up. I betcha disks 6-8 are Freeza's "5 minutes" span. Haha.

How is that different from the last set? Everything that we saw in the last set was mostly aired on Cartoon Network's uncut run. The Ginyu portion, however, showed us that they didn't bother rerecording many lines/characters.

So what does this set have to offer that's different from the others? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Same errors made from the remastering process. The same lazy amount of voice changes. Almost none of the dialogue was fixed (Holy Cosmos was done away with and "Don't piss off the God of Love" was changed yet Piccolo's football-like peptalk wasn't done away with as neither was Freeza's "Whatever turns you on, Big Boy" line). It's still cropped to widescreen. Absolutely nothing's really changed.

Pointed out before or not, it's STILL THERE and shouldn't be ignored and neither should anyone pretend they don't exist. Until the sets actually CHANGE all these problems for later releases, you're just going to keep hearing more negative feedback about these sets.

No matter how much you polish a turd, it's still a turd.

It's funny you should say that, because I'd say the same for FUNimation's voice actors, who actually were brought in from the street in 1999 with no prior voice acting experience. Ocean was a professional group of actors with tons of experience.

And hey, don't blame Ocean for shitty dialogue. Blame the writers; and for the record, the writing only got worse in season 3. Also, from what I've been reading in this thread, a lot of those horrible lines have been left in the new season 3 box set, while a really kickass line, "Don't piss off the god of love" has been removed. Go figure.

Let's put it this way; while Ocean's Freeza might've had the "I want to carress these balls" line, FUNimation's Freeza had "whatever turns you on big boy" which has been left in the redub. I think that pretty much says it all.

.... For god's sake lets try to stay on topic. Do we really want Vegetto Ex to step in? Either way if you do not like these sets why are on this thread. We just want to know about the Season Three Box Set, thats it. Everyone has had half a year to form their opinions on the subject, we don't need to hear them again.

Could you slam them in a door or something first because that would be freakin' hilarious.
the dude that voices Raditz did a damn good job
That's cause he's Justin Cook. (aka Yusuke Urameshi) He's awesome!!

Now on a more "on-topic" note, there's another weird image blend right after Dende is killed and Gohan flashes on the screen really fast. (seriously why do they keep doing that? It seems like a pretty stupid effect even without the crappy deformed video. Not that I'm insulting the original Japanese footage or anything...) I'll post an image eventually.

Exactly.

So, for information thus far:

1- It covers episodes 75 ("Password is Porunga") to 107 ("Goku's Alive!!") totaling 33 episodes

2- The only major redub was done by Chris Sabat, redubbing only some lines for Vegeta.

3- "Don't piss of the God of love!" Was censored, for some reason.

4- Freeza wasn't redubbed at all

5- The Bardock Flashback is still ass backwards.

6- The original Falconer score is used for the TV Broadcast track instead of the quasi-GT shit.

So they didn't bother fixing one of their biggest translation errors? If their going to redub anything, why not the Bardock flashback? He's not even directly onscreen while they have him talking.
