I see.
Stupid danish translators.
Sucks when they make bad translations, doesn't it? You may have read this in another thread, but the french translations of Haachan is "Franky 8". An ok call considering #8 looks like the Frankenstein monster, but still annoying now that I know it's a mix of "chan" and the numbe 8.
To anybody: What was the joke Goku told Kaio in the manga, both in the Japanese version (please translate/explain it) and in the english version? Or any other version, I'm curious as to what jokes were used.
In french:
Mr. et Madame Suffi ont eu un fils. Comment l'ont-t-ils appelé? SAM!
(Mr. and Mrs. Suffi had a son. What did they call him? SAM!)
Hence his name is "Sam Suffi". 'Sa me (pronounced "meuh") suffit!' in french means "That's enough!"

That's ironic, I had just taken out that particular issue for the first time in years. This is what he says in english, I don't own the japanese version.
King Kai: Do you have pig's feet? Yes I do. Wear shoes and maybe nobody'll notice!

I remember this one off the top of my head:
Futon ga futtonda!
The word similarity should be fairly obvious, and it just means, "The futon blew away!"

That's because it's a pun in the Japanese language. Once you translate it into English, it loses it's joke. Puns are one of the hardest things for translators to translate closely enough, but at the same time try and keep some sort of joke in. They have to Americanize it, but not to far from the original, otherwise all the purists will track him/her down and do a lynching.

I made a typo in my post (and edited to fix it). That should have been "word similarity". The words futon and futtonda look (and sound) alike, see? I guess that's all there is to the joke. Unless there's more to it than that, it's not very funny at all... Which was probably the point, actually.

I think that's true TripleRach. I know Kaio-sama's jokes are actually supposed to be pretty corny. Why else would he laugh at pun a Goku made up, I mean "witty" jokes just aren't Goku's area of expertise.

I'm really, really trying to remember the VIZ version, because it's different from both of those. But I can't. I have failed.
So I have gone upstairs and picked up the issue. Deus Ex Machina told us what Kaio said, but Dayspring asked for Goku's "joke", and this is it...
Goku: But I'm no comedian!!
Kaio: It's your only hope...and I only laugh at the most sophisticated humour!
Goku: I...I don't know...
Kaio: I thought so...Have a nice run home!
Goku: I-I-I don't even know what comedians read!! COMIC BOOKS?!!!!
Hmm. That's interesting. In the Japanese version, Goku actually tried to tell a joke, whereas in the VIZ version, he accidently makes one. Strangely though, his facial expressions actually show frustration, which would tie in better with the VIZ version. Weird.

The danish joke:
Goku: Ba... Balls... BALLS!!!
Kaiou: Ba... balls... pff...Pfft! Pff.. Hee, hee... hee... Hee, hee...
Goku: I got you there! You laughed, Master Kaio!
Kaiou: Yeah, that one was good! Now then, I'll train you. Huh huh...

*AHEM!*
Back to the subject in question...
Some time ago I began work on a 2D fighting game that starred solely characters from DragonBall. So far, I'd only made 3 characters: Kid Goku, Teen Goku, and DP (Dragon Power) Goku. However, my lack of time and some procrastination has inevitably delayed the project.
Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!

Hey, that sounds pretty cool. Just uhm, don't do anything that would get you in trouble for copyright infringement, or whatever.

Would "Teen Goku" be the Goku from the end of DB?
And what's Dragon Power Goku?

I would assume it's the version of Goku from the NES game
Dragon Power (Known as
Dragon Ball: The Mystery of Shenlong in Japan). Since nobody in the US knew what DB was back then, they changed all the character sprites and renamed everybody, so it would be marketable.
If you're interested, here's a
walkthrough from
GameFaqs.com.
Can't say as to whether it's any good or not, although most likely... it's crap.
