It would be a waste, but I can still see it happening that way. I'd like to get a better gauge on Gogeta's personality. Vegetto had four full episodes (filler or not) to work with in Z. The discrepancies between movie 12 Gogeta and GT Gogeta are enough where I personally don't count his appearance in GT. Felt too much like the GT writers wanting to write Gotenks, but wanting to use Gogeta because popularity.Absolute Ice wrote:This would be ridiculous and a waste as hell.Chuquita wrote:Maybe because he's considered a Toei character ala Cooler is and Toriyama is avoiding characters he didn't create?![]()

If Gogeta appears in Super, he will likely have the most inconsistent personality in the series.

Not actually, since Gogeta never appeared in the manga before, if he is to appear now, Toriyama will give his vision about his personality. And the personality seen in the movie and GT, it was purely what Toei made to him.

By series, I mean the whole series, including GT.

Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
DB fans want everything into a single canon. I don't know why it matters so much if something does not exist in the same continuity. I can carless if Turles does not exist in the same continuity as the anime or manga. Having trying to fit GT now into the whole mess seems stupid if you ask me. Goku and Vegeta earn their god powers and I would hate to see them ditch them.Absolute Ice wrote:Indeed. Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
Even if Champa is just as strong as Beerus he still wouldn't be considered a significant threat for Goku and Vegeta to resort to using fusion(especially Portara considering how overpowered a SSGSS Vegetto would be) to defeat him, it would be out character for them.
Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
You still think there is a canonicity. I do not see how this is better. Dragon Ball is a series where more than just one story has been expanded with prequels and sequels that are a part of each other. It features a lot more and how to differ was never officially said by legal owners. So you or me thinking there is something definite other than the indefinite canonicity would be wrong.Absolute Ice wrote:Indeed. Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
Oh Christ no! Dragon Ball already has almost no lasting consequences as is, having the Super DBs destroy the what little is left would be the crowning achievement in the new eras constant de-fanging of everything. Even the potara de-fusing thing annoys the piss out of me as is.FortuneSSJ wrote:Who said the Super Dragon Balls can't do it?!Absolute Ice wrote:This is not possible. When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
The summary for this chapter is really interesting. I hope all of this can still be animated in Super, there's still time to shove everything Champa-related (especially now that he kind of triggers Freeza's ressurection) in it.
I also like Kibitoshin beind de-fused since I didn't really like his appearance
regular Kaioushin is more appealing, even if he doesn't have that mysterious aura he had in the 25th Tenkaichi Budoukai. I didn't get the vibes this would lead somewhere, though, just characters being characters.
We now have three sets of Dragon Balls and the manga already showed the Namekian ones being used for trivial things (Kaiou's planet and now Kibitoshin's fusion). I wonder if Toriyama wants to show them being used this many times so that he can later surprise us with consequences.
Hope they release tankoubons for the manga.

Maybe Toriyama decided he didn't look it either? It seems the kind of thing he would do, heh.alakazam^ wrote:I also like Kibitoshin beind de-fused since I didn't really like his appearanceregular Kaioushin is more appealing, even if he doesn't have that mysterious aura he had in the 25th Tenkaichi Budoukai. Anyway, i do prefer Kaioshin by himself too.

Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
Well if it something can't fit into the continuity then it should not be view as canon. We don't need a official answer from Shueisha or Toei to know that. We all know Fusion Reborn is not canon to the main continuity of the franchise since the movie fits nowhere into the timeline of the anime or manga of the show. It's no different with other franchises too. Other popular Japanese franchises like Naruto has no official canon and no one views the fillers as canon to the manga. If something also contradict something then it should not be view as canon to the main continuity. I think the newer movies and Super so far make it hard for GT to fit into the current timeline of the series. I personally don't think Shueisha and Toei cares about GT being ignore since they care more about telling a good story that sells well. At this rate, GT is view as alternate timeline or continuity. Even Namco Bandai (one of the main merchandise holders) had GT and DBZ Movie 10 as alternate timelines to the series.Cetra wrote: It features a lot more and how to differ was never officially said by legal owners. Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
I really have very little to say on the story-front, but I can't go without saying how much I adore the way Toyotaro drew Goku's Kamehameha. It's incredibly striking -- something I've felt was lacking in his previous drawings.
In fact, quite a lot of the chapter was very nicely drawn. Looking forward to seeing what he comes up with as he moves into genuinely new territory.

Toyotaro is really good at drawing the launching of techniques. You can see a lot of these amazing skills in Dragon Ball Heroes: Victory Mission.

Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
I just read the first three manga chapters after ignoring it and --
Wow! It really is quite good. It's a shame some of the comedy beats have had to be left out from the movie/anime, because the manga's very good at capturing quick, Toriyama-esque character humor in some of its original beats. I'll be keeping an eye on it from here on out. While it's obvious in a few spots it's operating as truncated ancillary material, in a lot of ways it feels like it could continue right on from Volume 42. Really a fun read. The build-up with Champa is exciting and interesting here too, and feels right at home with other opening moves of Dragon Ball arcs. I can see why it might not be in the anime yet, though, because it clearly paints everything with Beerus as the initial chapter of a much larger single arc, while the anime appears to want it to operate as its own opening storyline.
I hope this gets a tankoubon release and an official English translation. Seems like low-hanging fruit for Viz, but it's never a sure deal with ancillary material.

If I can't get a hold of this month's issue, I'm gonna hold out for hope for a tankoubon release. I don't wanna be missing just this issue, and VJump takes up space anyway.

So does this chapter actually show a Super Dragon Ball?
