Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods"

I'm going to kindly ask kei and SaiyaJedi not to spoil the plots here after they saw the movie. I certainly don't want to know the plots until after it gets released in U.S.

I'm the opposite in that aspect; I want to know all the spoilers. ^^; I've been researching whenever the spare time is there to see what new plot-info (what little has been revealed) I can find.

Is it weird that I kinda want someone to record the theatre before and after the showing or perhaps describe the whole process of going to see the movie? (like Herms' 'Jump Special Adventure', Julian's Collaboration ticket purchase or Greg's Strong World: the Experience video.) I think it would really give everyone a feel for the type of atmosphere that surrounds this movie, rather than being confined to text on message boards.

Yeah, I can't wait to get all of the spoilers too. For most titles, spoilers just make me want to see something for myself all the more. That's more true with Dragon Ball than with anything else, since it's the title that made me start to kind of like spoilers. I knew about how GT ended when the Androids arc was on US TV here for crying out loud.

That and I really need some firm confirmation of two things that happen in this film before I can get the true work on a fanfic idea started. I need to know 1) What year this movie takes place in, supposing we get that answer at all; and 2) What becomes of Pilaf and gang.

Yeah, there's really no reason to try to avoid spoilers. At least, there's no reason for the forum to ban 'em. It's the Age of the Internet, it's time to accept a few new things.

That being said, I do not envy Julian or Kei for how likely they are to be bombarded with requests.

It might warrant making a new thread JUST for Battle of Gods plot reveals, in order to keep it separate if enough people don't want to have things exposed for them. I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Just to entertain the notion: why bother having two separate threads? There isn't exactly going to be anything to discuss once the movie is out other than the details of the movie.

I agree with JulieYBM. If I could make a suggestion, why not when the first bit of spoilers do hit this thread, we immediately add a spoiler tag to the title so nobody gets blindsided with plot reveals and such.

Presumably, though, once the movie comes out, wouldn't it warrant multiple threads for different topics? As in, we don't have one thread for an arc of the story in which all conversation has to be directed, nor do we have one thread for each movie in which all things about that movie would be discussed. So wouldn't the same hold true for this when it actually comes out? As in, there'd be a, for example, a "Why Did Uisu Eat That Car Tire?" thread and a, "Does Anyone Else Think That Pilaf Taking Over the World Was Done Well?" thread. So I guess spoilers would have to be handled on a case by case basis (although if it's in the thread title... whoops).

Not really. We've only known some minor roles for the characters. Nothing plot-related spoilers.

I dunno, I'd say some of the character stuff - namely the Oracle Fish - is pretty plot-related...but I think I know more of what you're talking about though: what you don't want to see is a lot of "and then this happened, then so-and-so did this, which made this happen, and ZOMG ISN'T THAT COOL!" play-by-play type stuff.

I don't really know if there's anything that would be left to discuss in this thread if we did split off to a new one for the plot stuff though...what did the forum do back when the JSAT special came out?

I don't remember anything about splitting off threads when the 08 special came out; but that was different what with it being streamed online (and what an amazing experience that was *_* ; watched it twice and took so many screenshots the 2nd time around) because everyone knew immediately. With the movie, the only way anyone online is getting close to that this spring is if someone were to perform multiple illegal theater-going rule-breakings.


And yeah, I don't feel as though we've been properly spoilered yet; not enough to say "Whoa! That's a HUGE spoiler!"; because it's mostly been about the movie-exclusive characters (mainly Oracle Fish and Birusu), along with some Pilaf Gang stuff and things related outside of the film rather than plot-stuff. As of right now, everything I know about what's going on with Goku and friends in this movie is very, very vague. Bulma has a birthday party, Goku challenges Birusu to a fight and loses. Birusu fights and defeats 18, Buu, Gohan, and Vegeta. That's...about it. I feel like I should know more plot info by now; hoping more info finally appears this month.

On the topic of spoilers... I think we should respect those who do not want major plot points revealed but still want to read this thread. I would for instance like to know if people liked it without major spoilers since I may wait awhile to see it considering I cannot see it in the theater and I dont like watching crummy illegal bootlegs.

Basic plot elements do not spoilers make. Any specific details (who wins what fight, what happens in the end, shocking twists, etc) should certainly be in spoiler tags, but saying, "Hey, Vegeta fights that guy with the thing on his head" is not really much of a spoiler.

Agree. I dont mind screens or basic info... I just dont want to find out vegeta also has a sister or something lol
