Far as I'm concerned, the swearing in the newer Funimation dubs has always been kind of jarring and completely unnecessary, with the one exception of Freeza's "Simian bastard!"...SX10 wrote:As for cut, uncut, I hope just because the bad language isn't there, the violence is gone too. But remember, there was no swearing in the Pioneer dubs. So, I don't think a lack of swearing would indicate anything about cut vs uncut.
Haha, I don't think so.8000 Saiyan wrote:So Schemmel and Kelamis are best buddies now, eh?

I think it's most likely just a case of them not being hostile at all, but perhaps not exactly having any real connection at all, and perhaps kind of being a bit distant due to the stuff that went on between them. I don't imagine there's any real bad blood, but I don't imagine they're exactly in a hurry to become best buds.
Funny you'd mention the title cards; while the episodes will likely have different titles(At least, I imagine so...?), the edited dub does use a different font to Funi's uncut dub, so we do know what the Ocean title cards will look like, we just don't know what titles they'll use.MistaL wrote:Well we already know what the visuals are gonna be like (minus title cards) from the edited Funimation Kai dub, which uses Ocean's video.SX10 wrote:As for cut, uncut, I hope just because the bad language isn't there, the violence is gone too. Yeah, I think that might be the case. He seems to get along really great with Scott McNeil, and he tends to be quite considerate about the Canadian cast in general, so I think it's more a case of him just having some bad experiences, making some dumb mistakes, and not necessarily always realising what he's doing makes him kind of a dick. He seems to not want to be a dick, which is more than I can say for a lot of the real dicks you encounter in the world, so I give a lot of leeway; if someone seems to be willing to improve themself, I'm generally much more forgiving of them... Plus, I've never met the guy, and all this stuff just comes from second-hand gossip we've heard down the grapevine from assumptions...WittyUsername wrote:Sean Schemmel in general seems like the kind of person who means well, but who can sometimes come across as a dick due to some insecurities he most likely has. I’m inclined to think that a lot of his insecurities probably stem from all those years of him being unfavorably compared to the other English voices for Goku, but that’s just an assumption on my part. In any case, it’s good that there doesn’t seem to be any current bad blood between him and Peter Kelamis.
I think drawing conclusions like "Sean Schemmel hates the Canadian Gokus!" or "Sean Schemmel is a dick!" is just that typical internet thing of people wanting to jump on-board with a hate bandwagon, even if it doesn't make sense, or there's no reason for it. We saw this with that outrage towards Scarlett Johansson's casting in that trans role in that film a while back, where instead of people mobbing the producers who decided to hire her despite the social issues that surround that, everyone mobbed the actor who took a job that would have likely been rather challenging and interesting to perform...
People on the internet love hating things, and unfortunately that extends to people too. So let's all try to be the bigger people here, and realise that we don't know what went on between Schemmel and Kelamis, I don't think many of us have even met Schemmel, so saying he's a dick or implying such things is just a bit much, right?
