That reminds me, whatever happened to that one artist that was doing Naruto/DBZ mashup designs? I never did see if he'd done anything with Kuririn or Rock Lee. Preferably combining those two specifically actually.

Edit: Google is my friend, because WHABAM.

Too bad Rock Lee never got his moment to shine in the manga after his fight with Gaara.

Too bad nobody not named Naruto and Sasuke got little time to shine after a certain point in the manga.

Sure is reminding me of current Dragon Ball, to be honest.

Resurrection F pretty much defied the whole "We Are Team Cannon Fodder" trope that has plagued the franchise for the non-Saiyan cast post Cell arc. I mean Piccolo, Krillin, Tien, Jaco and even freakin Roshi stepped up and easily defeat hundreds of soldiers of Freeza's army while Goku and Vegeta weren't around and protected the Earth.

Considering they can only look cool by picking on more pathetic people than them, that's pretty sad.

That's nitpicking to an insane degree. I mean you're trying to negate the fact that Earthlings stepped up to protect Earth from Freeza's amey in the absence of Goku and Vegeta as a case the Z-Fighters being weaklings taking on other weaklings. Can't you just appreciate the fact that in modern Dragon Ball Z some of the original cast actually contributed something of importance.

GT and Fusion Reborn did it too, and I don't see much praise going there. Lasted more than 10 seconds too. Most of them goons don't even got a name tag, they might as well just fall down. At least those fights weren't so pointless even they knew it. Freeza himself knew it was a pointless waste of time. Least those other times it ain't treated nearly as such, but are looked over cause Goku needs more time for him.

Again, if all they can do is pick on people weaker than them to look cool, that's lame. Muten Roshi was far cooler failing against Daimao (After making the latter shit himself in fear), than anything in FnF. Sure he looks cool fighting, but mindless fighting isn't enough to satisfy me.

Well he did try to go Super Saiyan in that fight. I think it's safe to say someone wasn't particularly happy about that and jinxed the poor guy. XD I even remember Toonami's Tom saying "Super Saiyan much?" as the last quote for the preview.

GT and Fusion Reborn did it too, and I don't see much praise going there.

GT handled the scenario poorly. It was already know by that time that the GT cast, especially the Saiyans, were so immensely overpowered that anybody that escaped from Hell they could have one shot. When Earth's special forces at the the time that Freeza and army invaded the planet in RF consist of Tien, Krillin, Roshi and Jaco, would you have expected them to hold their own as well as did, especially considering how much of a joke they were treated as in the later parts of Z.
Again, if all they can do is pick on people weaker than them to look cool, that's lame.

So practically anytime a character is effortlessly stomped in Dragon Ball, which has very frequently, especially in the manga, it's lame to you?
Muten Roshi was far cooler failing against Daimao (After making the latter shit himself in fear), than anything in FnF.
So Roshi failing to stop King Piccolo because he had shitty aim, and as result died because of that and lead to King Piccolo nearly taking over the world, was cooler to you than him tearing throwing dozens of super alien soldiers? It's better that you make the enemy fear and then fail, than protect the Earth and kick ass like he used to back in the day. Okay, sure. Whatever floats you boat.
Sure he looks cool fighting, but mindless fighting isn't enough to satisfy me.
A large portion of Dragon Ball, from the old school Dragon Ball days to the adventures of Z, is mindless fighting. I'm guessing you're indifferent to that as well?

Yes. Freeza soldiers are weak. Really weak. Hence the whole battle according to someone who watched the film was 10 SECONDS in-universe. Even throwing that out there was no way there was any bit of drama as their piss ants. Fusion Reborn and GT at least had people with names, and gave people a chance to be awesome. Goten and Trunks fight friggen Hitler and it's hysterical. Here it's flash with absolutely no substance. It's so pathetic even Freeza knew the result before it began, but did it anyways cause LOLZ time kill.

When they stomp a bunch of no name losers who only exist to get their butts kicked, yes. Congrats they handled a bunch of losers with no names, clearly there to lose.

Make the worlds greatest evil absolutely shit himself in fear of you VS Weaklings with no name who can't even harm you. Man the comparison.

Not every fight, but plenty have substance, reason to exist, and are actually building up for either laughs or to show off how characters have grown. The Saibaman show how far our heroes have grown. Each ranks among Raditz, and we see our heroes take them down when earlier they'd have fallen real easy. These losers don't do anything but give everyone a chance to look cool beating up weaklings. It's as cool as Videl beating up some humans.

Shiami the one guy who actually posed a threat to Piccolo and could have been an amazing fight for him......downed by Gohan in one shot....wow....man...so great. We couldn't have Freeza nearly kill Gohan since he's the biggest threat at the time sooner (maybe have them fight a bit with a proper fight first), and then have Piccolo be the only one who can fight Shisami since apparently he's the only one left who can. But no that'd actually mean there was something worthwhile.

Or maybe it's just the Earthling cast has become so strong over the years and their strenght become unnoticed until it came the time when Freeza's army arrived that they got to display their strength.

You mean like the Cell Jrs.?
Make the worlds greatest evil absolutely shit himself in fear of you VS Weaklings with no name who can't even harm you. Man the comparison.
Yeah. You are certainly the man when you make the bid bad fear you. It's doesn't matter if you fail to make a difference to protect the world, as long the big bad feared you, your death will be vindicated. That's like Batman making Darkseid intimated by doing his famous Bat-Glare and then getting killed by The Omega Force.

If the battle against the Saibamen proved anything, it was that Yamcha didn't learn shit as he was still killed by one of the after gloating like an idiot and that Gohan was still a coward even after training with Piccolo for a year as he trembled in fear at one of them charging towards him. And the Cell Games, which provided some of the most iconic moments in the franchise, and provided Gohan with his epic day in the limelight, only happened because Cell was arrogant, an idiot and bored.
