It's times like this you realize the Dragonball franchise should end. The rest of the cast is up there in the years and I can't imagine each one passing away as the show goes on.

That makes no sense. That’s like saying Disney should retire Mickey Mouse since he’s on his fourth VA.

Goku barely took a backseat in the Buu saga, at best he took a leisurely stroll round back while everyone else cried for him to come back.

It will never end, girl. Even with 'franchise' you meant anime series we would still have games with voice acting and unfortunately they would have to handle with important actors dying anyway.

Someone better make sure Nozawa and Tanaka are healthy, they are part of DB core.

Of course, Just in case, they better prepare suitable replacements.

This news basically came out of nowhere.

Nozawa is an 81 year old elderly woman still voice acting as though she was in her prime. That's an accomplishment. I'd say she's pretty healthy right now. If she were to pass, god forbid, it'd most certainly be relating to succumbing to old age. Human nature. But at this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if she lived to be 90. She's like Goku, always putting up a fight.

Still a person in their 80's could have health issues at any time. If Nozawa passes away while Super is still running, then it's time for Dragonball to crash and burn with her. Toriyama probably won't want it to continue without her either.

It would be an insult and a disgrace to see the iconic Dragonball voice cast replaced one by one. I'd rather Super be canceled then see it go on with a new cast if the old ones die off one by one. I don't know how I will even cope with a new Bulma voice whenever she appears next.

Nah Nozawa wouldn't want dragon ball to end if she ever bites it
The franchise is way to big to let an iconic voice actor end it Tori and toei know it themselves

That would be completely disgracing what Nozawa would want. I doubt she'd want Dragon Ball to end because she passed away. I'm sure she realizes her own mortality and, like the former VA for Lupin, has a successor in mind.

Hiromi Tsuru is the number 1 trend on the Japanese side of Twitter.

I really don't understand all this "if someone dies, let the franchise goes with them" comments. Like... Seriously? :eh:

Stopping the whole thing because of a death? The world would never "evolve"/continue a legacy/overcome difficulty if every time a person dies, something else would follow the path. This shouldn't even be considered a possibility. Disney didn't end when its creator passed away. The planet didn't stop because of two World Wars, here we are. So please, enough with "let this franchise go with her", it's nonsense.

Nothing but love and respect for Hiromi Tsuru. I've done my little part of spreading the news, and that's what I've been seeing.
What can you even say in situations like these? Well, I don't tend to swear, but that's all I had. "Fuck." Sudden news like this really does leave you speechless.
I imagine that Toei is already working on finding a replacement, some new feet to put into a very large pair of shoes. Filling them won't be easy, as it's a great voice actress that's left us today. Farewell, Tsuru-san.

Even as someone who didn't grow up on the Japanese sub and still greatly prefer the dub, this is devastating news, especially since she's one of the original VAs and she was still fairly young. All around, a tragedy.

May she rest in peace and thanks for all the wonderful years you gave to this franchise.

If there is something Toei doesn't disappoint is getting the best voice actors for their top shows.

A lot of DB voice actors were/are some of best in the industry.
Hiromi Tsuru will surely get a good successor. Just like how happened with the others.

You spoke like a real Man.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Favourite old DB Animators: Masaki Sato and Tadayoshi Yamamuro
Favourite new DB Animators: Yuya Takahashi and Chikashi Kubota

Thanks. But that's just the truth. Wanting something to end just because someone passed away is just... "what the heck?". We wouldn't have a lot of good things that we have today if that was the case.
