They don't even know. They were obviously title baiting.

The third 2014 issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is announcing on Monday that characters from the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and Jigoku Sensei Nube manga are joining the lineup of Namco Bandai Games' J-Stars Victory Vs. "team battle action" video game.

Jonathan Joestar and his grandson Joseph Joestar from Hirohiko Araki's JoJo's Bizarre Adventure manga will both be playable characters. In addition, Meisuke "Nuubee" Nueno, the teacher with a demon hand from Sho Makura and Takeshi Okano's Jigoku Sensei Nube manga, will be a playable character.

Hironobu Kageyama, Akira Kushida, and Hiroshi Kitadani are singing the game's theme song "Fighting Stars." People who pre-order the game will receive the J-Stars Victory Book, a volume bound like a Jump Comics book and filled with information and visuals of Jump heroes over the years. A free augmented-reality (AR) app lets you see the Jump heroes in your surroundings on the PS Vita.

Previously announced characters include Toriko (Toriko), Luffy and Boa Hancock (One Piece), Goku (Dragon Ball Z), Naruto's title character, Rurouni Kenshin's Kenshin Himura, Gintama's Gintoki Sakata (with Kagura and Sadaharu), Ichigo (with Rukia) from Bleach, Kochira Katsushika-ku Kamearikouen-mae Hashutsujo's Kankichi Ryotsu, Hunter x Hunter's Gon Freecss, Yū Yū Hakusho's Yūsuke Urameshi, Tsunayoshi Sawada (with Reborn!) from Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, and Tatsumi Oga (with Beelzebub) from Beelzebub, Taro Yamada from Chinyūki -Tarō to Yukaina Nakama-tachi-, Medaka Kurokami (with Misogi Kumagawa) from Medaka Box, Chitoge Kirisaki from Nisekoi, LaLa from To Love-Ru, Tetsuya Kuroko from Kuroko's Basketball, and Himeko, Bossun, and Switch from Sket Dance. The rival characters Sasuke (Naruto Shippūden), Vegeta (Dragon Ball), Zebra (Toriko), Jaguar (Pyu to Fuku! Jaguar), and Tarō (Chinyūki -Tarō to Yukaina Nakama-tachi-) are also joining the roster.

The 3D fighting game will allow players to use Naruto's "Shadow Clone," Luffy's "Gum Gum Stamp," Toriko's "Nail Punch," Goku's "Kamehameha," Yūsuke's "Spirit Gun," Gon's "Janken Gū," and other famous moves from Jump characters.

The PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita game will be released on March 19. A regular copy of the PS3 version will cost 7,980 yen (about US$80), while a limited edition will cost 10,980 yen (about US$110). The normal edition of the PS Vita version will cost 6,980 yen, while a limited edition copy will retail for 9,980 yen (about US$100).

Now this is fairly interesting. I suppose Jotaro will be DLC.
Oh, and the cover is on the bottom-right of the page, in case somebody didn't notice.

EDIT: With Jojo and Nube, now there are 21 series confirmed. The special edition features 21 anime songs. So maybe the roster is already complete.
Sorry, I can't speak English very well, but I'm trying my best.

I kinda hope not since there's still plenty of series that I'd like to see represented here, but maybe that's wishing for the moon at this point.

Hmm...correct me if I'm wrong, but Hiroshi Kitadani is most known for a One Piece song, kinda like how Kageyama is synonimous with Dragon Ball, right? In that case, what's Akira Kushida from?

Most notably in terms of anime, Kinnikuman apparently. More recently though, and probably the actual title in question, Toriko.

Oh man, Kageyama, Kitadani, and Kushida doing a three-man theme song? Freaking awesome. I hope it can be used future animated crossovers between the three.

Ahh, thanks! I'm thinking the same thing now, it's gotta be the Toriko thing. Jump does seem to love billing it together with DBZ and One Piece lately. And to be fair too, I think those three series were the first ones announced for this game too, so it fits.

He also did some Sentai themes (such as Taiyo Sentai Sun Vulcan's opening) and the opening for Space Sheriff Gavan.

Man, I'm glad to see Jojo, but I'm starting to get nervous at the lack of Fist of the North Star and Saint Seiya.

I know things are a little strained between their creators and Shueisha, but I hoped it wouldn't be to the point of not showing up (Fist of the Blue Sky and all the Saint Seiya spin-offs are being put out by different companies...though Shueisha did put out Ring ni Kakero 2, so I had some hope...).

I'm not holding my breath for Fist of the North Star or Saint Seiya. They basically belong to different publishers now.

In terms of series, there's not much else I'm itching for. It'd been cool to see Bo^7, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Death Note, Dr. Slump, D.Gray-man... But I'll live. It'd be nice to have one more playable BLEACH character... It'd probably have been Uryu.

The thing is, IIRC, Arale has actually been in promotional art before. So she has to be in the game at least in some capacity.

Yu-Gi-Oh is own by Koonami from what I can remember. So I doubt we will see Yugi in the game.

But it was originally a Jump manga and the YGO! spin-offs all run in V-Jump. Shueisha did not let YGO! go and most likely never will.

What I want most is Norimaki Arale-chan from Dr. Slump right now, but I also want at least Gohan & Gotenks from DBZ, Sakura & Kakashi from Naruto, and Zoro & Sanji from One Piece. I'm also planning to start watching Toriko these days (and then read the manga), so I would like to see a few more characters from there too, but I don't know who because I don't know anyone other than Toriko himself. :P
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

I have to assume the licensing for this game is comparatively tougher than say the Jump Stars game. There seems to be a lot of material taken from the respective TV series which has to further complicate rights.

I still really wish they'd reach really far back and throw in Wingman, since it was a pretty big hit back in the day I believe. I just really want something from one of Katsura's many series in here. :(

Similar to characters who use water, sand, other elements, summons or puppets in the Naruto games? Slam a card on his duel disk as you initiate a combo and let the monster attack while you are stationary for continuing combo. When you're done, he removes the card and the monster disappears.

^That or he could play like the Pokemon Trainer in Brawl. Yugi himself would be an untouchable background character with three of his favorite monsters fighting for him that we could rotate between.

The Dark Magician could be his medium fighter (not too fast but not all that strong either, he uses mid ranged attacks), Buster Bladder or Celtic warrior could be his "heavy guy" (his speed would be on the low end but his strength would be formidable, he'd be best in close combat) and the Summoned Skull could be his long ranged guy (uses distant lighting attacks to keep his opponents at bay though not very powerful and his wings allow him to be quite elusive) and of course his ultimate could be the Dark Paladin (polymerization fusion between Dark Magician and Buster Blader) and his "transformation" would be Slifer.
It's not too late. One day, it will be.
