Super Animation Catalogue 2.0
Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 72
Honestly episode 5 should stop being treated so badly. It had very bad art when it first aired but now it's fixed with the blu-ray disc release and actually looks decent, on par with many episodes of Super.
Can't believe the guy saying episode 14 had bad animation, it actually was animated very good. If I have to find some flaws with ep14 it would be how battle damage looks and some art looks bad but not that bad, maybe only that underwater shot looked bad, the rest of the episode was just fine.
The only episodes who truly looked and were animated like shit are episode 24 and 33. There's no excuse with those episodes and they didn't bother correcting them for the blu-ray release. Now we have episode 67's first half which I really hope will be fixed because it looked so bad my eyes hurt watching it. At least episode 33 was not a very important battle.
About episode 72, I honestly expected it to look much worse. It was fine to me, some parts were quite good, and considering they are saving animation for the next arc, the fillers are looking good. Hopefully next arc is going to finally be more consistent.

I saw that some people started posting in boxing stuff for boxset 5. Do we have any corrections or will as always Ajay post something?
99.9% sure that we won't get anything since the Arc excluding 1-2 episodes was quite consistent
Also since "zooming" is somehow a proof that animation is bad (whaaaaaaat?) I did my own on Shida!!!!!! Look Shida is awful!!!!!! I zoomed!!!!!

See how silly that thing gets?
Using an inbetween like some people do and zooming in and saying that is bad animation. (Of course I'm being sarcastic)
I think in the case of this shot

people's complains are valid, since this shot was reused too much in that scene. They were talking several seconds and we just could see this same shot too much time. It would be valid if it was just used once and not for a large talking scene. Was this the storyboard's fault? It would be better that instead of reusing that shot too many times they would draw some close ups of them talking.

To be honest Shida's art looks good even when zoomed. That scene of episode 72 looked very poor, not only when zoomed

How about you guys drop this kind of discussion? It does not help facilitate the conversation.
In-betweens are not important nor do they represent the animators' main work. ¿Comprende?

Si, comprendo :p But I was just also pointing out how dumb is to zoom in an image. Especially an inbetween and saying it's bad animation.DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:How about you guys drop this kind of discussion? It does not help facilitate the conversation.

It's still a valid complaint because people do this zoom in shit all the time. If you need to do that to prove a drawing is bad, then it's not bad.emperior wrote:To be honest Shida's art looks good even when zoomed. That scene of episode 72 looked very poor, not only when zoomed

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

Talking again about character designs, I'd have loved to see Goku and Vegeta with Toriyama's new style in the anime, the image of both in SSB was really well done by Toriyama. But I imagine the reactions will be worse than Pokemon SaM fans when they saw the first trailer

The sudden outbursts are common when shifting, SSB was hated and SS4 was hailed as the almighty just because of that for sometime, SSB provided no feats, no memories that made it epic in minds..Alee9977 wrote:Talking again about character designs, I'd have loved to see Goku and Vegeta with Toriyama's new style in the anime, the image of both in SSB was really well done by Toriyama. Now that SSB has provided many feats and has been used in many good moments, in all the recent internet polls, SSB always tops SS4..
Similar case would happen if the sleeker designs are followed, it's just a moment of inconvenience

That's really neat. Who was in charge of the storyboard for the fifth ending again?Psykomatik wrote:https://twitter.com/ishigyunyu/status/8 ... 1644181504

That looks great, nothing like the storyboards of previous episodes showed in this thread before

It was directed and boarded by Ishitani Megumi who also directed and boarded the latest ED. She is a newbie, but is talented.Lord Beerus wrote: That's really neat. Who was in charge of the storyboard for the fifth ending again?

...I think he was talking about the Animation Supervisor of the ending, and not about who's directed it.

Wow, i missed that word.
Really sorry, didn't see he mentionned "storyboard" and just thought he was talking about the animation supervisor.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 72
The less lines the more time there is for a key animator to focus on refining the movement of the drawings. Few understand this like Tate Naoki, whose simplistic drawings allow for effort to be placed elsewhere while under conditions none-too-friendly to the animation staff. To call a lack of lines 'lazy' completely disregards this context and provides nothing of value to the learning process.

He's talking about prioritizing different parts of entire episodes, not any one scene in particular.cuartas wrote:what movement? watch the scene againJulieYBM wrote:The less lines the more time there is for a key animator to focus on refining the movement of the drawings. Since I'm all but willing to jump on a chance to talk positively about something, I'm actually glad Ishitani got brought up. Honestly, I totally forgot that she directed/storyboarded that ending! She made that ending more fun than it needed to be, and she's even a pretty solid animator too. If you want to check out some other stuff she's done, I suggest watching some of her graduate work from Tokyo University of the Arts. I hope she's able to do more stuff in the industry soon, and I certainly wouldn't mind if she helped out on Super more!
