Was I talking about the title cards? No. It was the video quality which differs from that aspect.

I think that has to do with Bebop being an upscale or "SD remaster" if you will, more than anything.ect5150 wrote:This has to be sarcasm given some recent pages discussed FUNI's leaving titles off of the title cards. Uh, what? It's a proper remaster with an HD transfer. The only upscales are the CGI scenes.Baggie_Saiyan wrote: I think that has to do with Bebop being an upscale or "SD remaster" if you will, more than anything.

Even though I have this, I wonder why season 6 is so high on amazon? http://www.amazon.com/Dragon-Ball-Blu-r ... +z+blu+ray might have a low inventory or something?
hopefully it'll go down for the people needing it. unless something happens soon I have to take a break from buying anymore sets until I get my christmas shopping done. haha so close yet so far

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Re: Dragon Ball Z "Seasons" On Blu-ray: News & Discussion
So I've noticed that FUNimation's going to be releasing the entire Cowboy Bebop series in one box for $41 which is pretty damn cheap and at that point no one can really complain about quality (most affordable price of all considering).
It's a shame they'll be including English translated cards on the OP/ED and probably Episodes but at least they look fitting.
By the way, why does Amazon have this image for the "Season" 9 of DBZ Blu-ray? Thank god they didn't go with this one.

They probably dont have the art work yet so it's a place holder
I've been debating on weither or not to get the blurays but I find myself liking the single DVDs a lot. They feel and look old which really blasts the nostalgia lol

I was under the impression FUNi were doing a new transfer? And on the FUNi store, they labelled it has a SD remaster as oppposed to HD Native, which is what has me worried. But it could be an error I guess. I think I'll be picking up the UK complete set even if it is more expensive.AjayLikesGaming wrote:Uh, what? It's a proper remaster with an HD transfer. Spoiler:It'll be no different from the UK release. Excuse some of the blockiness in my screenshots. That's bad compression on my part rather than native to the Blu-ray.Spoiler:
I quite like that cover. Anything would SS3 Goku would have been nice.

Re: Dragon Ball Z "Seasons" On Blu-ray: News & Discussion
I really enjoyed the picture quality and the Japanese audio that I watched of the UK release Cowboy Bebop, it was pretty awesome and made me wish we could have Dragon Ball / Z / GT remastered with that HD vision although it's worth remembering that Cowboy Bebop was on 35mm (or 36? w/e) than 16mm.I was under the impression FUNi were doing a new transfer? All the Anime is re-releasing Cowboy Bebop in one box so you might want to go with that one than buying both sets (if you value the booklets then the 2 volumes are worth it).

Wait...so Funimation's upcoming Cowboy Bebop release is cropped to 16:9...?Baggie_Saiyan wrote:I was under the impression FUNi were doing a new transfer? Yep it is cropped. It kind of sucks that it is, but it is not even close to how Funimation handles Dragon Ball Z. At least the remastering looks good on the Cowboy Bepop sets so far.

Why exactly do you think Bebop is going to be cropped?
I mean... it isn't going to be... but why do you THINK it is?

Even without knowing all the details of the release, I can tell by those photos that it isn't cropped. Heck, in the second batch of comparisons it looks like the BD has more picture showing.

FUNimation even posted a trailer/opening of it confirming it'll be 4x3 AR like the other Cowboy Bebop releases so dunno where that cropping thought came from.

The Blu-ray screenshots have been scaled down to 900p and the HDTV rips have been upscaled from 720 to 900. I wouldn't really call that untouched.ShinGaijin wrote: Here you are.I specify that my Kai's HDTV raws are untouched.
Here's some shots from the Boo Kai Blu-ray if you can provide 1080p screenshots from the Season Sets to compare:

Even with the green tint the Majin Boo arc of Kai screenshots look better as it actually shows detail and it's unblurred.
Just look at that Gohan comparison, it's like night and day.
