Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods"

I like it but, I don't know why it reminds me more of Digimon than DBZ. I would like to see where they want to use it.

Wow, that insert sort is simply a generic J-Pop song..... Maybe I like the Chala Head Chala even more now. Only good Japanese band I heard in these days and was featured in anime were Boom Boom Satellites.

I dunno, I like their 'Hero' pretty well myself. It's not FLOW's best work by any means, but it's better to me than their Head-Cha-La at least. It'll be interesting to see at what point in the movie it plays.

About "HERO", if it really does end up playing during the movie instead of at the end credits, it gives me hope that it's not going to be a genki-dama that defeats Birusu, because the song is way too panicked and fast-paced for a genki-dama. Also, the lack of a plural (unlike DBH which is "Heroes") makes me think it's going to come down to one character to beat him (my preferred guess is still movie-only power-up for Goku. Some people on the 2ch thread are guessing Gogeta or Vegetto).

Counting the preview showings on the 12th and the 16th, we're officially only 28 days away. *_*
Also, I hadn't realized that it'd been a week since a Kanzenshuu news update until I read the comment about it on the latest article.

That's actually my nightmare. I pray to god that anything musically slapped over the story will be ommited. And that Hero is ending credits song and I can cut it out from the movie then.
I also pray to god by the way, that one of mes in alternate universes is watching Dragon Ball anime done by Sunrise, lol

At least it's not as weird as Avril Lavigne singing a Nickelback cover; that whole thing with OPZ's tie-in songs was so bizarre. They were used over the end credits though if I remember correctly, so odds are in the favor that HERO will most likely play over the end credits as well.

While I wouldn't classify this as one of my nightmares, I really don't want the movie to come down to a genki dama, especially since that was "just" used "a few years ago" against Buu. Genki dama would feel horribly repetitive.
My feelings on having Gogeta take Birusu down are mixed; on one hand it wouldn't be a genki dama, but on the other...Movie 12 already was the big Gogeta movie. Having it be Vegetto who beats him (even though I've heard that arguably Vegetto's the stronger of the two Goku/Vegeta fusions) wouldn't work either because they made such a big deal about those earrings and how you can only use them once and how they're supposed to be permanent even though Buu Air makes that part not so.

I can't recall off-hand if any of the movie villains were defeated using one (maybe Brolli was the 2nd time? Maybe Bojack was too?) it's the genki dama that I feel has been over-used in the films.

I might go check and see if the movie guide lists which attack defeated what movie villain.
EDIT: No "which attack what villain" list exists and I am currently to removed to remember off-hand. >_<

If we count the Dragon Ball movies and the Jump Special as well, then we have: Lucifer, Assistant Black (10th anniversary movie), Cooler (sorta, he survived and came back in the next movie), Bojack, Broly, Bio-Broly (well, sorta, he had the water as well) and Aka (Jump Special).

Song of Hope was definitely modern, so it was a bit jarring for me at first. A lot different from the stuff we got back in the day. I do however feel that it is a genuinely good song and hope that it will be played over a part of the actual movie so we have something to associate it with as well. The way I see it, a lot of songs in the franchise benefit from their usage, becoming more memorable than if they were just stand alone things.

I have this theory about the plot now that Bills (I still don't know what the spelling should be)... is not actually a bad guy at all.

I think he approaches King Kai to let him know he is going to destroy earth, Goku wants to fight because he knows how strong he is and Bills wagers that if there is someone worthy who can defeat him in battle (just defeat not necessarily kill) then he will spare the Earth. I think Goku tries and loses at first so Bills goes to Earth and then finds more of Goku's friends who also try to stop him. In the end, Goku fights him a second time and manages to defeat him. Meanwhile Whis disapproves of this and convinces Bills that he must destroy the earth because it is his job and tricks him into doing so somehow until Goku and co. attempt to stop Bills only to reveal what Whis did and so he turns on Whis and spares the Earth.

I'm probably completely wrong, just a theory.

Seconded. To me, there's three franchises Hironobu Kageyama should be a part of at all times when possible: Dragon Ball Z, Saint Seiya, and Super Sentai. The man did some amazing music for all three. Kageyama has a way of singing that always makes me smile...and Toei seems to be ignoring that fact in recent years. It's been years since his last Sentai song, they didn't bring him back for Saint Seiya: Omega, and not a single song for Dragon Ball Kai? I know Kageyama did the DBZ game openings for a while, but the man deserves more.

Still, aside from that, I'm super excited for the movie (and other references I'm too lazy to do atm). We were overdue for a new DBZ movie.
