Is it me or does it look like Birusu is using Frieza's Death Ball attack?

If something is truly perfect, that's IT! The bottom line becomes there is no room for imagination! No space for intelligence or ability or improvement! Do you understand? To men of science like us, perfection is a dead end, a condition of hopelessness. Always strive to be better than anything that came before you but not perfect! Maybe he's sending people back in time, since we all know that attack does that now.

Seconded. To me, there's three franchises Hironobu Kageyama should be a part of at all times when possible: Dragon Ball Z, Saint Seiya, and Super Sentai. The man did some amazing music for all three. Kageyama has a way of singing that always makes me smile...and Toei seems to be ignorijng that fact in recent years. It's been years since his last Sentai song, they didn't bring him back for Saint Seiya: Omega, and not a single song for Dragon Ball Kai? I know Kageyama did the DBZ game openings for a while, but the man deserves more.

Still, aside from that, I'm super excited for the movie (and other references I'm too lazy to do atm). We were overdue for a new DBZ movie.
I second this opinion.... I loved the last opening themes for Dragon Ball games Kageyama did and the theme from Tenkaichi Daiboken sung by Hiroki Takahashi made me smile.
But yeah, Toriyama said, that there will be modern flavor in it. So expect lot of forgettable songs (sand chala remake) tossed in nowadays anime to boost it's respective sales.
And I'm not simply J-Pop hater, even tough I won't listen Kai's Dragon Soul in my mp3, I think it did damn great job as an anime opening for revised Dragon Ball with it's feel and the arrangement of the song is pretty well done.
Hero for me have some good guitar riff at the beginning, but then it's ruined by usage of these pop-rock clichés, making it generic song.

Chuquita: But yeah sweet girl, I definitely agree with you on the Avril Lavigne. That was something horrible, that I still didn't shook off the grimm feeling from listening to it in trailer.

I would love to see something from Die Antwoord in some anime :)))

I was so shocked when I first found out about OPZ's "Avril Lavigne sings Nickelback and 'Bad Reputation' covers" back before the film came out in theaters. Weird enough that it was her, weirder still that they weren't even original songs, but both were covers of other artists' songs (one of which was her boyfriend--I think I read on Arlong Park back then that she's dating or engaged to one of the guys from Nickleback). Not even One Piece covers either like how BOG's got a "Head Cha La" cover. o_O
It was all very surreal.

I am surprised I hadn't thought of Kageyama's JAM Project as a potential band for BOG's songs; I've heard JAM Project's stuff, they're really good. I'd have liked to have heard them in this.
Maybe they're saving Kageyama for DB's next anniversary? BOG's more of a Weekly Jump's 45th Anniversary thing.

Kanzenshuu's twitter's got me all anxious! I can't tell if something is known that hasn't been shared yet or if it's just a preemptive "stuff's definitely going to happen soon, just letting you know" sort of thing. *_*

Next week should be good though; we'll get to learn if Julian made it to the next round of Hoko x Tate, if there's any new news in Weekly Jump 12, and next Thursday the new issue of VJump is released.
Also, so hoping for a new BOG trailer filled with new footage now that both tie-in songs have been aired on the radio.

I haven't heard other songs from Kageyama besides from the game's. Maybe I should start looking as his other works if they have that SHONEN!ROCK feeling. Gotta love it.

I just thought of something else guys... What do you think Birusu will say about the Dragon Balls. They pretty much thwart his whole purpose of destroying planets if they can simply wish them back. Wouldn't that be the reason why Elder Kai was so against using them? He said something about being a mockery for the natural order or something, right?

I imagine if he were to use his Sand-Midas finger on the dragon balls it could up the stakes a little bit. (Because you'd still have the ones on Namek after all.)

I still feel like I don't have enough information to really build a theory on though.

Huh. That's a good point. I wonder if Birusu will try to destroy the Dragon Balls because of the revival of Earth earlier. Although, he seems most concerned with just fighting strong guys, so maybe not...

I think destroying the guys who destroy the planets is much more thrilling than destroying planets.

Huh...I hadn't thought of that. That would be great, and I'd love it in a way, since that's a major part of why I love the Dragons arc of GT so much - I like a story actually using his warnings about overusing the Dragon Balls from the end of the series.

I doubt they'll actually do anything with it here, but it'd be great if they did.

I actually wouldn't mind that happening in this movie... It would be a great way of tying all the recent DBZ materials together. This movie could be an official continuation of the manga and/or anime series, and a sequel of sorts to the JSAT OVA, that indirectly expands on Episode of Bardock, and finally incorporates the Makaioshins that have been mentioned in all but the actual series so far.

Throw in some DB Online elements and this would be the ultimate story to connect all the other stories

Can't recommend that enough, he's had quite a few good ones. Here's a few OPs:

I wonder what impact he would have to the DB: Online timeline. And if Toriyama would continue to use him over time if he did start doing more DB material (would love a DB: Online set comic).

I'm curious as to what you guys think about Bils the Cat's future. Should he live on as an enemy? Should he die? Should Goku end up befriending the cat and having him occasionally stop by the Earth for fun, food, and fighting?

He seems interesting enough, so I kinda want to see him hang around for a bit.

I would squeal like a maniac if they also tie in DBO, making their AGE 801 official.

Ah gotta love Kageyama singing Soldier Dream.
Anyways, FLOW's insert song falls more in line to what I'm used to hear from them. Definitely more in their style. So if you don't like it, then most likely you won't like the group.
I don't think it's a problem of old groups being better than the ones nowadays. They're just different. I can listen to a good Kageyama song, and afterwards a nice one of FLOW's.
Besides, as much as I love Kageyama, this movie also has to have some modern flavor to it, and FLOW is quite popular in japan and gives off that modern feeling, that's what I think.
Yes, Goku visited me once. He turned to me while I was still speechless, and said, "You've drank too much"...

I've been avoiding this thread like the plague, but I'm guessing it will only have a Japanese release, yes? IMAX, cool. Japan only?
My favourite art style (and animation) outside Toriyama who worked on Dragon Ball: Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, Masaki Satō, Minoru Maeda, Takeo Ide, Hisashi Eguchi, Katsumi Aoshima, Tomekichi Takeuchi, Masahiro Shimanuki, Kazuya Hisada

Atm it's Japan-only. I do think it was strange how they originally had an "English" page and "Japanese" page before the movie title proper was revealed; it made me think "international" at the time.

I guess it all comes down to if FOX can play nice with the international dubbing companies (Funi, Ocean, etc.) considering future dubbings and international releases. Also Toei/Shueisha's role in all this too.
