They removed Vegito and Bardock's unlock off the save data (to my knowledge) so you can't get them without the code.

Do you know if the DLC characters are locked in the disc and then only able to redeem them through the code? Sort of like SFxT "DLC"?

They're on the disk since you fight them. The code just makes them playable.

So how about we all post our own little mini-reviews of the game?

Personally, I think it's really fun. Granted, it could use some more polishing, and there were several highly questionable design choices made with the game, but getting a team together to try and beat a mission is one hell of an entertaining and challenging time.

I'd probably give this game a 7/10.

Welp... damn. Guess that's it then.

As far as a rating, I'd say a 7/10 as well. I enjoy despite it's many flaws.

It gets a 6.5/10 for having Disc Locked Content (SFxT's Capcom game says hi  ) otherwise I'd happily have given it a 7/10 because the game's fun as hell online.

I do suspect that people who play against overpowered players might get pretty frustrated because they keep getting killed whenever possible but in case they quit they'll get reported for Disconnection.

Stuff.co.nz, a major New Zealand news website, has posted a review for the game:
http://www.stuff.co.nz/technology/games ... attle-of-z
They even gave it the headline, 'Desolation of Shenlong' when it's listed in the 'Technology Headlines' box. That's right! "Shenlong", not "Shenron".

I'm impressed. :D

So when does this week for the Premium Collection end? I know it started late since they did that Golden Line Up think last week. Just wondering.

I mean, you're pretty open about looking at cartoon porn. Why would you do that? It's fiction. The proportions of these women are not possible to reach in reality.

These reviews of 4's, 5's and 6's may lead to the game not getting a sequel but on the plus side if Namco Bandai's smart they'll get the developer of Zenkai Battle Royale and produce it for PlayStation 4 / Wii U / Xbox One.

Still, I'm more anxious to try out J-Stars Victory Vs. (PlayStation 3) than Zenkai Battle Royale (if it comes to the home consoles). The prices for it are a bit high (imo) so I'll wait till it's released and then there should be more options to buy from.

Well if they bring over zenkai battle royal it wouldn't be the first arcade game. If I recall they brought super dbz over from japan. So it's a possibility

If ZBR is ported, it probably won't be next year. It seems like they're still adding characters (Ultimate Gohan and Babidi/Spopovich) so, since no Dragon Ball game until Battle of Z had DLC characters, ZBR may have to wait until Spike(?) is done before it sees a console release.

It's not by Spike, just by one of Bandai Namco's own teams.

I was thinking picking it up when it drops to 39.99, it would be a good deal online.

I like it too. A very likeable game, but it requires a certain tolerance for its flaws. For what it lacks in roster, options to fight against CPU, questionable DLC practices, conventions of the game series (ki charging, transformations), camera and depth in the melee system, the game makes up for it with its higher difficulty, well-defined classes, good co-op and fun Diablo-esque customization.
There is also battle mode, which is a little tricky to judge, it can be great fun and I applaud the more innovating game modes such as Dragon Ball Grab, but the technical side is lacking at times, with the synchronization issues and lag on a connection that's less than great.

More personally speaking, it's exciting to play because of how distinct the classes or characters can be and its style of the gameplay is something very different from Budokai and Sparking. If the latter is what they were going for to establish its own subseries, then Artdink did a good job. I also like how this game is even closer to Zone of the Enders 2's gameplay than the Sparking games were, which I already found quite comparable to it.

Like I said, a flawed but likeable game. I think I'll always be more a Sparking fan because of personal taste, but I'd welcome a Battle of Z 2. Refinement of the technical side of the network, a 1P vs CPU mode, a better camera for fights close to objects, adding some characters I'd like to see (Zarbon, Monster Zarbon, Turles, both Janembas, Gogeta, Kid Goku, King Piccolo, maybe the 3 SSJ4s and 3 GT main villains to make the game stand out more) and maybe some extra mechanics to add new dimensions to the gameplay would make for a very solid basis for the sequel.
I've heard some of the recent Gundam games are a lot like this game, I definitely feel like checking them out and see if some of their qualities would be good additions for Battle of Z 2. Although I'm not into Gundam at all because I never watched more than a few episodes of it as a kid, but I wouldn't let it stop me.

In fact, we don't know. The character models and sytem is very similar to the Spike games, from the Tenakaichi games to the more recent J-Star Victory VS.

It is similar to Spike's handiwork, but it's obviously not the same. It has the mark of an entirely different developer all over it, and I assume Spike(or any third-party for that matter) would be credited if they actually had some involvement with ZBR. It really is most likely just some team of Bandai Namco's that works on arcade games or something. That or maybe it was even produced by some of the same division responsible for J-Stars.

Dimps wasn't credited for Dragon Ball Heroes, yet we know it's them. It seems the same for ZBR. You can't tell for sure it's not Spike.

People began to guess ZBR was developed by Spike from the very beginning. And now recent games seem to confirm they were right.

The characters could be added through DLC either free or a Season Pass to get all of them for one price only.

We have somewhat of a confirmation that J-Stars Victory Vs. may be the work of Spike (credit to Super Saiyan Prime for the info/screen) and Dragon Ball: Zenkai Battle Royale looks pretty damn close to it too so it could've been an additional game they were hired to do.

However, if Battle of Z is made available on PS4's PlayStation Now they sure as hell better get some servers for it because relying on the user's connection will leave you lagging and seeing a screen pop up every now and then ruining the experience. Playing without laggers is quite addictive to the very last second. :)
