... the English-voices-with-Japanese-music dub of episode 20 does not contain "Shura-Iro no Senshi...
So what plays during that time? Silence?

The reasons are all stacked up, really. I've lost interest in the topic. We know that so far they're incapable of properly preserving the series, so until they are, they don't get any [well, most of] of our business.

I see them release 3/4 of the series, and having sold tons of sets since most people decided to give in and settle for the widescreen version and then releasing it fullscreen. Just to screw us over, like they did with the Ultimate Uncuts.
Reminds me of Star Wars... how many versions do they have of that?

Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

For the original trilogy? Three.

After reading all of the pics and reviews, I've decided to hold off on purchasing the season sets for the time being. I'm curious to see the fan backlash once this set hits stores nationwide... and if FUNimation will do or say anything about the issue.

If FUNimation later on announces fullscreen versions along with (or even replacing) the widescreen releases, I'll look into them.

For now at least, I feel that my money can be spent on better things, such as finishing my DB and GT collection, before FUNi shows us "the way they were meant to be seen."

I already own all of GT... But the whole thing with the first 13 episodes of the original DB missing makes me wonder if those sets are even worth getting. I feel like FUNi might work things out with Lions Gate and release remastered DB, making all the other DVD's obsolete.

As for the first 13 episodes of DB, I was just going to import the Austrailian Madman set as I have no problems with it being PAL or R4.

Ha ha.

The fullscreen version doesn't count in my eyes. (Well, not in this instance at least.)

Could be a rights issue. Wouldn't surprise me in the least.
I don't know... The DB dub would be a huge contradiction to that. They dropped most of the insert songs, but left a few in, and they weren't even consistent about it when it came to the same song. For instance, they dropped Mezase Tenkaichi from the Gokuu vs Jackie Chun fight, but left it in during the 22nd Budoukai preliminaries. They also left Dragon Ball Densetsu in once during the Baba episodes, and dropped it other times.

Can't remember if this has been mentioned yet but I'm not about to look through 33 pages for it.

The season 2 set has been announced with a release date of 5/22/07.

Well...Fuck. Don't tell me the second "widescreen" videos are coming out next. If that the case, I will rather buy old colours with full pictures then this crappy new take of a released.

To be fair, this time it's confirmed whereas we were told that the info on the Navarre site might not be final.

You too, huh? I didn't expect this from you, Bilis. Looks like I'm one of the only few here that's actually getting this as planned. I think this is 10 people who've bailed on their preorder/plans for the set? But whatever, I'll judge the set when I watch it on my living room television with my own eyes, in full motion and whatnot, and I'm convinced the wide-screen won't bug me nearly as much as it has GoC. Just so you all know, I'll be putting out a review as well once I've covered everything-and-all on my copy. Be looking forward.

It was probably a glitch matter regarding their international master (music w/t SFX), I mean there's really no reason for FUNi to remove a song they show later on in their dub, I don't think they would even know how to remove it without using the alternative SFX-only track of which was used for the original first 13 episodes.

On many levels we are lucky, The release of Mobile Suit Gundam didnt even have the japanese version on the disk and half way through the show they got rid of the japanese opening and ending. sunrise is just as silly as toei.
... Zeta Gundam had the opening and ending removed also.

I'm with you Conan. Although I wish I has a store near me with the DVD already there, I'm still waiting on my CD Universe order. It still hasn't shipped, so unfortunately, it looks like I'll be getting my copy either on launch or just after.

Well, after trying to explain the concept of a soft street date to the clerk at a local store that got their shipment in, I've resigned myself to the fact that I won't have this until next week, which means my review probably won't be out until next weekend-ish.

Ah well :P

Mine should be here Thursday, or at the latest Friday.
