Here's my prediction: If Paparoni displays the power to control robots, it will look like he controls #17 and #18 at first but in a twist, they will backstab him and the Megazord, revealing (to the other universes that didn't know) that they're actually enhanced humans rather than robots and have free will, leading to the elimination of U3 (possibly taking #18 and #17 with them), leaving a clean slate for Saiyans + Freeza vs. Jiren, Toppo and Dyspo.

If 17 and 18 do get mind controlled I can see it because a reason for them losing. The main characters or Freeza would be forced to fight them and ring them out.

Would be funny if Freeza takes out 17.

If 17 gets controlled he should pull off a Super 17 and ring out the doctor.

Basically PIS the reason Piccolo went down, it killed the momentum of the episode, they shouldve had him sweep with all of U4 warriors.
That would require him to react fast enough. It's completely plausible that he got knocked down so fast he couldn't react. But let's blame the writing instead of our brains .
There was no emphasis on the speed in which he was knocked down. Him not even attempting to stretch his arms is a testament to the bad writing.

It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super

That's not even the greatest offender. How could they omit his super hearing? Were they afraid that it would make Dyspo less impressive?

Part of me wants to believe this is deliberate, that it will tie into something like 106 did with 118, but it's really hard to convince myself of that.

I can see why people are disappointed with his character in the later part of the episode, but what about the first part? Saves two of his teammates, eliminates two opponents with ease.

The fact that he of all characters failed to hear his opponent is almost suspicious if it weren't for the fact that I think it's more than possible that the writers forgot about this aspect of his character....
I said THIS EPISODE if you read it.

He was out of characteristically dumb. Piccolo would have the sense to

1. Extend arms to save himself
2. Afterimage technique

And most importantly

MOVE AWAY FROM THE EDGE OF THE ARENA.

When has Piccolo EVER been so daft? That was a hard hit of plot induced stupidity for the staple strategic fighter this show has had since his inception.

And the hearing thing was dumb given he's infamous for his incredible hearing.

Not really, because here is the thing. Piccolo has always been inconsistently intelligent. It was his dumbass idea to go to namek after being revived, which easily could have thrown away all their efforts. It was his dumbass idea to go easy on Freeza instead of killing him when he could have in second form. It was his dumbass idea to let Cell go when he should have killed him and he had plenty of chances too. It was his dumbass idea to jump in front of nappa, instead of grabbing gohan and dodging like Goku did.

Super just needs to pick one because Z definitely didn't.

Ummm, and I also meant this episode?????? That's what I meant by first part, as in first part of the episode, where he saves two people, and defeats two opponents. If it weren't for him, U7 would've been down two fighters.

The elimination was bad , everyone can agree to that, but he did more this episode than just drop off the ring.

I get that everyone has their opinion, but I feel you really are trying to push forward this notion. Characters, even the 'smart' ones, make mistakes. They're allowed to, same as the most skillful and strongest fighters lose fights too. This one is minor since he just got overconfident thinking he had the opponent figured out, same as with Freeza and Cell (where it was already explained why what he did made sense).

It's a well known thing that if you focus too much on one thing that you're other senses will dull. I don't understand the confusion.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

Goku has been called a moron in super for making mistakes yet we excused what happened back then.

You know the producers have questionable taste when Roshi has had the best sendoff out of the eliminated fighters from U7.

Piccolo elimination couldve handled much better, like he uses his stretching arms and attempts to grab the ground but then Gamisaras denies it.

Its also disappointing that Piccolo never got to use his Kage Bunshin no Jutsu.

That would make sense if had been his eye sight or something like that, but exceptional hearing is specifically his thing. A somewhat dulled hearing in Piccolo's case should have still put it way above that of other characters. That they chose to make this as his misstep is mind-boggling.

but it is in goku's character to be reckless and not think things through, Piccolo having the reputation as the brains and strategy fighter makes this PIS over a logical use of the character.

Just watched Ajay's breakdown of 119 ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_L9RJOwdB4) and apparently the writer working on this episode is somewhat new to DB. Maybe this would explain the 'oops, forgot how to hear' bit?

I can't even imagine what could happen if this writer has a Twitter account like Toshio.

I wonder what (if anything) might come out of Jump Festa this weekend? A teaser for a new arc would be really great. On the one hand it feels like it might still be a little early for that since this arc is set to end in March. The main story of the Future Trunks arc had already concluded by the time we got the first Universe Survival teaser at last year's Festa. On the other, they showed us that poster of Ultra Instinct Goku more than 3 months before that form appeared.
