Guys, I'm going to be straight with you. If you feel the show has gotten 'silly' ... it hasn't. You're just 'too old for this shit'. Seriously, 95% of the people in those boards do not fit the target demographic of the show, so don't expect the show to be 'everything you hoped for'. I'm referring to the people here who expect Super to be rich with dark moments, serious storytelling, meaningful characters etc etc. It won't. It's a show for kids. A show for kids being kids. Everyone in those boards has a manchild in him/her, clamoring to get out, and that's fine. But having unrealistic expectations (such as believing the show grew up alongside you) is naïve at best. Honestly, do you take seriously a story where the supposed God of Destruction halts his urges to blow up stuff in order to eat ice cream sundae? That's the show's silliness at full force, take it for what it is. The show hasn't matured one bit, so don't expect it too. Again, I'm not saying that's a bad thing. I'm saying *that* is DB and always will be.
If Zeno erasured his future self, then the multiverse will be in trouble due to how mad he will be. That is something that our characters don't want to see.

Wasn't there a long standing misconception regarding the ages of Pan and Bra in the west? I remember Pan and Trunks being a fairly popular pairing because most miscalculated the age difference and thought Pan and Bra were only petite.
Had to be a little upsetting for those when the info came out.
If I recall correctly, the Funimation dub added another five years into the timeskip between EoZ and BoGT, thus making Pan and Bulla teenagers (14/15 and 13/14). Even when you take that into account, though, they're still both very clearly minors. There's a different word for this than pedophilia, but it's still illegal and no good.
To be fair, as a kid, I always thought they looked at least close in-age to Trunks and Goten. I don't think their ages are ever mentioned on the show.
But, the fact they tried to pair them up is what made it worse.

Who? The fans? I never watched GT properly, but when I saw pics of Bra, because of the way she was dressed, I was absolutely sure she was 16-ish or older, because no way would a nine year old wear that. And I did the same thing with Pan simply because she was wearing a tank top. I never did the math or consider the age difference between her and Trunks (mostly because I didn't care about that series or pairing) but if anyone else thought like me, then I guess I can understand the misconception.

But, if you have watched GT and you know their age, there's the problem. Why do people like to see a grown man being with a child. It just makes me sick inside. I'm not attacking you but just those people I talked about.

But that was the point, most didn't know. My guess is most abandoned ship once the true ages were revealed. Or was this directed at the original fan art that started the discussion?

I get what you are saying but those are my concerns that I want to voice out.

That's the point we were making, from a child's perspective back then it was actually hard to tell their ages. This isn't a situation of wanting a grown man to be with a child, it's a situation of shipping two characters who you didn't know the age difference of.
When Super apparently shoves Goku down our throats:
Spoiler:
HeroR wrote:The characters in Super can work with Goku and they're treated like equals to him. Goku just being in the room doesn't take away from the character. In Z, the characters were so depended on Goku that they couldn't go an episode without mentioning him in some way even by hoping he will arrived, get better, training to get stronger, our last hope, being like him, ect. Goku was wanked to hell in Z, even when he wasn't in the room and everyone else was secondary to him. In fact, this was a major issue Goku had, which is why he didn't want to do anything in the Buu Saga.

Well, for the record I agree with those concerns, but I've always got the impression that most fans of the Pan/Trunks pairing were young girls that thought themselves to be around Pan's age. Trunks was DB's great heartthrob.

My bad on that. I just didn't see where you were coming. I will be more open to different point of views next time.
