Am I the only person who found that advertising annoying? This is much better.

The whole in your face and the hardcore approach? Needless to say if I didn't like the franchise, I wouldn't buy based on their trailers.

I swear to god that's what kept me away from Dragonball for years. Those promos or clips of the show with Mr.Monstertruckannouncer screaming "DRAGONBALL ZEEEEEEAAAAAAARRRGHHYEEEAAAAH ULTIMATE ACTION CARTOOONZ X-TREMENESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I rolled my eyes and thought boy there's a show for special needs children. Oh the dub....must you continue to haunt me?

Full screen, I am so happy. The first 13 are some of my favorite episodes of all three series and watching my vhs recording of the Toonami run got old a long time ago.
My brother isn't a DB fan, but he loves these episodes too, I'm looking forward to watching them together in a clean, crisp, un-cropped DVD format.
I really hope the trailer is leading us right instead of the online listing, I will be so disappointed if this set is cropped.
So exciting, my wish has indeed been granted as the trailer says.

I just hope they don't blur this in the same manner as they did with the GT sets. Yuck.

They were a HUGE step down from the GT singles. Those were near Dragon Box quality. I'll post some comparisons later.

They were just a bit softened... It's not like tons of detail was carelessly tossed to the wayside like in the early Z sets.

You can't even really tell a difference unless you look closely and try to see differences. I personally feel they did a good job with removing the grain on these sets.

Not to donate to the bombardment of screenshot comparisons, but...

I'm guessing Goku's arms were incorrectly colored in the original, too? Either that or they could just be the sleeves of the dress Goku was forced to wear. I forget whether or not he removed it at this point

"Blurred" is Z Seasons One through Three. GT there is what I'd call "smooth," not "blurred." You can still see every little detail just fine. I think they found a good balance with it.

If Z had been remastered the same way as GT, then I wouldn't have had any issues with it whatsoever. I liked the way Seasons 6-9 looked, but c'mon, even though they kept the grain, the picture was quite dark (although that could be attributed to their aging masters...

Yeah, but it just looks bad. As soon as I saw that screencap in the GT thread I just thought, "Ugh." especially since in the GT Season One trailer, the quality was better than the singles, and then we got...that.

You're absolutely right. It so freakin' blurred. I mean look at it. I can't even tell who those characters are it's so blurry. Who is that? Tenshinhan and Monster Carrot? There's so much detail lost. I mean, instead of seeing all the edges, we see all of them only slightly blurred. How awful looking. How can they get away with this? It probably looks even worse on a TV screen; I bet you can almost tell the difference when you're watching it on a TV.

But I noticed in Season 6, in the episode where Gohan is annihilating Cell Jr, the color in the picture is quite different from the rest. I could be wrong though. I just noticed it. But aside from that, I love Z and GT sets to death and would never sell them to anyone regardless of the price offered by someone... If they are stolen, I would die. Not literally but you get the idea

Eh, Season Two was awful... I think I might need to buy the spanish releases or something else that is affordable and make my own custom DVD replacements.

First, I'm sorry, just a pet peeve, you watched it ON an HDTV.

Also, when things are done right, you are supposed to see the grain. This is an old show, and when they DVNRed the film masters, it smoothed and blurred it so that grain didn't remain since they wanted to market it as a shiny new show.

Also, the color might be different because each episode IS drawn by different studios and what not so there are some differences in not only art style and color choices.

On topic: are you serious? In 2 years of releases, all you have got is Z Season 1?

You can buy the cheapest Z sets possibly offered by Walmart. Only $29.99

Yes but I have that episode on DVD single too. The colors from Z set episode and episode in single are too different, if I remember correctly...

I thought I was the only one who noticed this. It has an insane Blue tint and looks like it came from a completely different master from the rest of the episodes.

And the "different animators" argument is kid of weird, because Toei would probably make sure that every episode is consistently colored. In episode 186's recap of episode 185, the scenes colors are exactly like the 186 colors instead of the actual episodes colors (which are different from the rest of the set) and in the recap of episode 184, the colors look different from the actual episode 184 and look like 185's colors. And on my Funi single that has those three episodes, the colors are all consistent.
