According to amazon's listing, the item description is "Dragon Ball Z: Season 1 - Vegeta Saga (Sub Unct)". Do you think this means FUNi will be releasing two separate releases (a sub and a dub)? Considering that there's so many episodes on a mere 5 discs, it would make sense to split it up so their "remastering" won't be in vain. Though if it's true, now I can't go and watch the dub with JP subs for comparison's sake anymore!Tanooki Kuribo wrote:If anyone is keeping track, the Vegeta saga has poped up on Amazon.com. It has a bigger image of the the box art...

(One disc? I don't think FUNimation is THAT crazy)

Of course not. Half the time Amazon.com don't know what they have listed. They also say its one disc so, yea.According to amazon's listing, the item description is "Dragon Ball Z: Season 1 - Vegeta Saga (Sub Unct)". You're, not your, in that circumstance.BrollysKin wrote: Um... half the time the disscussion is not about the remastered boxset. So hopefully your kidding.
And I'm not. So what if people are having a stupid conversation. It's not like it's paticularly deconstructive or harmful and people are having fun, which is the sort of idea about the internet and it's message boards about Japanese cartoons and such.

But stupid conversations don't add anything to the topic. Neither is me telling you the rules. So on that note: I am really confused on why Amazon has the box set labeled as one disc. They must just want to post it up as quick as they can and just go back to fix it later.

That's just what Amazon puts up as a default before more specific information is given. Yeah, we know it's five discs, but apparently they don't.BrollysKin wrote:So on that note: I am really confused on why Amazon has the box set labeled as one disc.

Hm. I read the details about this set and since it's now an option to do so, I'm starting to wonder what the dub will sound like with Japanese soundtrack.
For the widescreen stuff, I made some comparison images that I made on my blog if you want to take a look at them. I'd post the images here but I figure it'd be overkill with the amount of them.
[edit]I just watched the trailer again (read:about 5 more times) and I've noticed something about the widescreen itself. I noticed that one of my homemade cropped images was cropped more than what was actually in the trailer. So I found a full-version screenshot of another point that was depicted in the trailer and tried to take 20% from that and call it a day. It didn't work.
What I'm noticing here is that in at least a few cases it's more like 10% is being taken away vertically instead of the 20% that everyone's throwing around.
Any thoughts?[/edit]

My apologies if this has already been discussed, but will the Saiyan/Vegeta boxset be composed of the Ultimate Uncut version? I realize Funimation opted not to finish the Ultimate Uncut endeavor, but I mean the few DVD's that they did release, will they be comprising the upcoming remastered release?

Well, keep in mind that they're adding footage on the sides that was originally cut off by the NTSC action-safe zones. By doing that, they have to remove less footage on the top and bottom to achieve a widescreen aspect ratio (probably 12%-15%, but that's just a wild guess).Kendamu wrote:What I'm noticing here is that in at least a few cases it's more like 10% is being taken away vertically instead of the 20% that everyone's throwing around.

Still stupid? Yeah. Cutting off that which was intended to be seen to capture that which is expendable (whee, we get an extra cloud or Gohan's eye...which the camera pans over to anyhow >_>;;) is an idea that I still don't get.
Nope. The Ultimate Uncuts were the old masters prior to the work FUNi had done. The new releases may look better, it's just everyone will be missing the top of their head (but more clouds! And an extra mountain!) :PI realize Funimation opted not to finish the Ultimate Uncut endeavor, but I mean the few DVD's that they did release, will they be comprising the upcoming remastered release?

Sorry, I should have been more specific... What I meant is, will the new release be the same as the Ultimate Uncut version in terms of the script, music, etc.?MajinVejitaXV wrote:Nope. Not sure. Details haven't been given directly from FUNi. All we know is that Falconer is being given royalties for the use of his music (which probably means it will be intact), and FUNi has eluded to some spots being redubbed but aside from the narratives they have given no specifics.Vegetasan wrote:Sorry, I should have been more specific... Per FUNiRepBlue, the marketing campaign calls for dispersal of information between now and February so...you'll know sometime soon.

Hmmm... That certainly does seem to indicate that Faulconer's music will be kept. Which makes me a very happy Faulconer fan!MajinVejitaXV wrote:Not sure. Having said that, it's too early to speculate... After all, they could just be keeping his theme song that plays during the opening credits, and getting rid of the rest of his music, in which case Funi would still be required to dish out royalties... But I hope that's not the case. Keep all of his music Funi!!

Liking music from another country means I'm trying to be a person from that country?b_boult wrote:The original score was terrible and you can try and be as japanese as you want but this fact will always remain, even Faulconer was immeasurably better.
Wow. I'd totally have multi-citizenship if that worked. It would've made my introductory stuff for my German and Japanese classes hard whe it caqme to nationality, though.
"Doitsu-jin to Amerika-jin to Nihon-jin to... nani nani nani nani (etc. etc./bla bla bla)... desu."
And, according to the post above mine, I don't need to address the difference between opinion and fact.

Seriously. I didn't know orchestrated music was only from Japan either. That shifty John Williams.Kendamu wrote:Liking music from another country means I'm trying to be a person from that country?b_boult wrote:The original score was terrible and you can try and be as japanese as you want but this fact will always remain, even Faulconer was immeasurably better.
Does that logic apply to guns too? Because my aforementioned 1911 is American (Springfield Armory) but it's made from Brazilian parts (Imbel). Does that mean liking it makes me a mutt? O_o

I received an e-mail response from Mr. Faulconer today and he said that he hadn't heard anything with regards to his music being used in the upcoming re-mastered sets... So could someone clarify that situation for me? Where did the news originate that claimed he would be receiving royalties for this project?

I'm guessing it was speculation from the beginning.Vegetasan wrote:I received an e-mail response from Mr. Faulconer today and he said that he hadn't heard anything with regards to his music being used in the upcoming re-mastered sets...
