There's another thread with several alternative ways to watch it. Since the special's being streamed for free anyway, it's more or less okay.DNA wrote:Gah, can't watch the special without lag >_<
There's so much lag it's barely watchable.

Them knowing it was called Buu is no big deal, to me at least.

Frankly, it makes a lot of sense to me. The showboat and blabbermouth Mr. Satan would probably just end up saying it was a monster named Buu, and the people of Earth would just go along with it.Bussani wrote:Yeah. I had that problem too, I watched it on Kanzentai (I belive thats spelt correct....) However thousands of others obviously did the same, and now the site displays a good old fashioned 'Page Cannot be displayed.'DNA wrote:Gah, can't watch the special without lag >_<

It's up on Youtube, The subtitles were a little different to the Kanzentai site, But check it out as there is no lagging!
LONG LIVE AKIRA TORIYAMA AND DRAGONBALL Z!

True. I wouldn't be surprised if he blurted it out without thinking. He does that a lot.Super Ghost Kamikaze wrote:Frankly, it makes a lot of sense to me. There was some lag during the opening animation and some of the fight scenes for me, but it wasn't as bad as when I got near the end of watching Romance Dawn after that.
As a whole, I very much-ly enjoyed the special. It was just a short one-shot thing that brought all the main cast together for some hilarity and maybe some fighting on the side. I was surprised that they weren't gonna play some rock-paper-scissors to see who would get to fight, but was glad at the alternative of radish picking. Also glad to see that a good number of the human fighters still had the urge to fight. Though that could just show how weak the gang thought the baddies really were.
Quite the amount of focus was on Goten and Trunks, though considering how they're "the next generation" I didn't mind. Besides, I frikkin' love Gotenks! The new opening was also pretty neato-keen.
Dunno what else to say 'cept what everyone else brought up. I agree that Table and his wife could have done so much more. I would have loved some more throwbacks to older parts in the series like the whole "don't be fooled by the power level on the scouter" thing. I also agree that Kaio and the Kaioshins could have done a lot more, too. I thought they would have at least had the Elder Kaioshin team up with Roshi to make some kind of pervy tag-team.

Ooh, good one. I never realized that even though he's played such a big role in the series, the non-fighters never saw him like they did with Kami.MagicBox wrote:See, they could have had SO much fun with that. Him being on Earth for the first time is a huge deal. This is his first time meeting Gohan and a bunch of other main characters. I don't even think some of these characters knew what he looked like prior to this get together. There's so much potential there, yet what do they do? Give him some "hey, he's there" shots in the background of two or three frames. What a waste.

Honestly I think anyone who has a problem with Vegeta's character has forgotten what Vegeta was like near the end of the Buu saga. He changed.
Plus, the Vegeta of the android/cell whatever era wouldn't even MENTION his brother's name. Because his brother to him, would have been weak and useless... therefore dead to him and not WORTH mentioning. (plus Toriyama hadn't thought Tarble up yet).
No, it's not the first time Roshi liked Chi-Chi's boobs.
The bad guy wasn't supposed to be some huge threat. The point of this was the strongest part of why I like DBZ... not just because of fighting and attacks but character interaction. This special was born off the concept, "What if an alien as strong as Frieza came, but too late, once Goku and gang had gotten so powerful.... apparently nobody would even remember."
They even put in the joke about Goku getting turtle's name wrong (which goes back to DB)...
This special was fantastic! I loved it! ... I don't see how anyone could have a problem with it. It's far more worthwhile than your typical DBZ movie... it had the heart that the manga/episodes of the show had.
It just had to be crammed into 35 minutes.

I have to admit I had tears when I first saw the oppening. Not ashame to admit this.
I agree with the last post. I loved ESPECIALLY because of the character interactions. Loved it.
Anyone notice Trunks's voice was way lower. Nice touch to show their aging.
I really wish they would just continue the series. I love DBZ so much.

I'm in agreement with this. :3Gozar wrote:I really wish they'd go the Lupin III route and have a new Special every year. Not a 90 Minute like Lupin. Just a 40-50 Minute. Once a year would be wonderful. It wouldn't be too hard on Toei and the VA's.
On hiatus.

I just finished it. I must say, it wasn't perfect, but it was still good authentic Dragon Ball. These things were what made this enjoyable for me:
-The opening. I don't think any of us expected this. Very awesome seeing a Post-Buu Era version of Chala Head-Chala.
-Typical Toriyama humor. "Drawing lots" and Roshi's radish,
-The animation. It was kind of weird in the fact that it didn't seem like a high quality, ultra-smooth animated feature like you commonly see in today's anime, even though it was digitally made. It still had a few scenes where the animation looked very good though. It was good-old fashioned Dragon Ball animation with a touch of the new digital animation. It was well executed in my opinion.
-Vegeta's mellowness. I think you guys pretty much explained this.
- Goku and Vegeta's rivalry. Making Vegeta look the other way, stealing each other's food, etc., etc., etc.
Overall, it was just good-old fashioned Dragon Ball. Sure, it was only 35 minutes, and sure, Tarble didn't do anything, but the humor and action you normally see in Dragon Ball are still intact.
My rating is:
8/10.

And Chi Chi said Gure was Bulma's sister-in-law. Are they also considered as such in Japan if they aren't married?Gozar wrote:I just remembered something I forgot to mention...Not sure if anyone's mentioned...But Goku refers to Vegeta & Bulma as having a marital argument.
People have argued in the past if Bulma & Vegeta are married in the Buu Era despite Vegeta referring to her as his wife. So I like that line.
Supposedly the Raudo were introduced in Awawa World, Toriyama's first and unpublished manga. Whether or not that part is true is irrelevent, however, since Toriyama's been giving them cameos all over his post-DB works:GS7X7 wrote:Dayspring wrote:Gure was nothing but an eye-catcher for Toriyama fans, like the Neko Majin, Kajika and Cowa cameos slipped in. What's the Raudo race?
-Tocchio The Angel (children's story/nao-manga) as interplanetary tourists.
-Neko Majin Ga Iru 2 as the main villains (race of alien invaders).
-Neko Majin Z 2 as a cameo (fan of Thunderbolt).
-One of the NPC aliens in the upcoming Dragonball Online MMO.
-Dr Slump "Movie 11"/Jump Festa 1999 Special.
-The new Dragonball special (Gure, Tarble's wife).

I always forget about them for some reason. Maybe it's because they have different clothes, name, and bg story. And Sand Land is indeed awesometacular.DaemonCorps wrote:Let's not forget the Picchi people from Sand Land.
