Just look for and browse through the Season 6 thread, I posted a bunch of comparisons in there.

EDIT Here it is: http://db.schuby.org/daizex/viewtopic.p ... &start=300

They're PowerDVD caps though, so the quality sucks.

Well, it's a good thing I never noticed the blurred in GT sets. I really like Z sets (except Season 2) because of really great crispy picture quality. I watched it in HDTV and I never noticed any grains remained in the film.

But I noticed in Season 6, in the episode where Gohan is annihilating Cell Jr, the color in the picture is quite different from the rest. I could be wrong though. I just noticed it. But aside from that, I love Z and GT sets to death and would never sell them to anyone regardless of the price offered by someone... If they are stolen, I would die. Not literally but you get the idea :)
I thought I was the only one who noticed this. It has an insane Blue tint and looks like it came from a completely different master from the rest of the episodes.

And the "different animators" argument is kid of weird, because Toei would probably make sure that every episode is consistently colored. In episode 186's recap of episode 185, the scenes colors are exactly like the 186 colors instead of the actual episodes colors (which are different from the rest of the set) and in the recap of episode 184, the colors look different from the actual episode 184 and look like 185's colors. And on my Funi single that has those three episodes, the colors are all consistent.
That episode was also pretty bright (not Season Two though mind you).

The presence of an HD button is just weird since it is no higher quality than the standrad craptube quality ones we've seen before.

I was scared for a second there when I saw that it was in widescreen, but it's just an upscaled version of the original with the wrong aspect ratio. The quality looks good though when you put it in full screen and sit far back! :D

I didn't realise that it was widescreen. When it was originally uploaded to that page it was not in widescreen.

Does anyone know where this trailer even came from so we can compare shots without resorting to compressed Youtube videos for comparison?

The upload is accredited to Jim Welch, who works for FUNimation, so he has the original source file, which itself doesn't seem to have been the full-quality version. I don't know if anyone has tried contacting him and asking for a higher-res version yet... Anyway, I'm sure full-quality versions of the trailer will start popping up on FUNi's DVD's soon, and maybe even Blu-ray's!

Yeah, it was probably still being processed then. YouTube should really offer a full/widescreen viewing option for their videos... I'm sure Google will fix that too in the near future. :D

It's because he used an outside video editing program to stretch the video out to 720p resolution; so basically when you take a normal video, play it, and stretch the player out so the video is bigger yet has worse quality, that's how he made the video look right when you first open the file. It's a pretty simple thing to do (and can be done with Windows Movie Maker with the right plug-in), and has its benefits, but in this case it didn't help. Hope I explained that well enough.

I am really hoping that FUNi either dubs or restores the songs Mezase Tenka-Ichi in episode 28, Fushigi Wonderland in episode 29 and Dragon Ball Densetsu in episode 30 in these sets and also I hope Romantic Ageru Yo animation 1 is restored too.

Yeah, many people, including myself, have it on YouTube. The one InnagadadaDBZ has favorited is mine, yay! 8)

I think its funny how the trailer has "Your wish has been granted" because its like FUNimation was talking to us.

First and foremost, I just want to thank this board for being such a great community and always having great information.

Okay, I'm a lurker more than anything, but I'm going to throw my whole two cents in about the whole "remastered" stuff.

First off, I don't like the widescreen at all. Losing footage is horrible, the bright ass colors at times make my head hurt, but besides that, I'm quite pleased with these releases. They've got the Japanese and English tracks along with a pretty accurate script and the dubbing has been pretty good. Me, I'm just happy I own all of DBZ/GT and soon, DragonBall, on DVD at a cheap, affordable price.

Really, the only thing I hate about these releases is, well, hearing a new one is coming out. That's because every time a new one is announced it seems like the next month or so of this forum is filled with arguing and bitching. The way I look at it is this: We are NEVER going to get a "perfect" version of DragonBall and the people who sit around and piss and moan because they didn't get the release the way they wanted it is kind of stupid to me. Yes, I understand your anger. Yes, it also angers me that they are basically "destroying" DragonBall and lying to us. Yes, I understand your want for a perfect release, but come on. It will NEVER happen and if it DOES then it's going to be a looooooong time.

I think we should be happy with what we're getting. A (for the most part) good release with a very cheap price tag. I see so many of you get all booty-hurt and bent out of shape because Toei or Funimation isn't doing what you want to the exact speculation. It's fucking bullshit. Look, if you guys are going to get so angry about these releases or not getting what you want, then start your own company. Find a way to get that "perfect" DragonBall release that you want. And don't any of you tell me it's impossible, because if just HALF the people that get on this forum daily to talk shit about these releases and bitch about it not being the way they wanted it got together, we'd be in DragonBall fucking Heaven.

I mean, seriously, does it actually SURPRISE even half of you that we're not getting the release we want? Things almost never come out the way we want them, so why even bother thinking DragonBall will? Do you guys really think that you're going to get exactly what you want? It's fun to hope, dream, and aspire, but if you're going to bitch about something like that and just repeatedly say "FUCK YOU FUNIMATION" over and over again, then you're more ignorant than the typical "OMFG SSJ-123-ABC-DO-RE-MI-GOGETA" (Yes, that's a fucking Michael Jackson reference, may he Moonwalk his way to Heaven) fan.

Look, I too am disappointed by the loss of grain, the cropping, and the coloring, but come on, it's better than nothing and at least they're relatively cheap.

Debating about what we want is nice, throwing around what we like and don't like is nice, but half the time that's not what I see. I see a bunch of angry fans ready to behead Gen Fukunaga just because Funimation is fucking up DragonBall a little.

All I'm saying is that even though there are some things wrong with these releases, we need to learn to take it with a grain of salt until someday, by some miracle, we DO get that "perfect" release. Shit, we could all still be watching shitty horribly inaccurate, and even worse quality fan-subs.

This isn't directed towards all of you guys, I fucking Love this forum even though I don't post much. This is directed, though, towards those people who get angry every time they don't get that <Insert Name Here>'s Perfect Edition of DragonBall.

We're picky, we're purists, we meticulously read into every single goddamn word in DragonBall, we spend a SHIT LOAD of our time and money on DragonBall, we're constantly speculating about DragonBall, and we're all huge fans, and that's exactly why we're part of the Daizex community to begin with, and that's also exactly why we need to learn to take a little bit of what we've been getting for granted.

I Love and Hate these releases, but until something better comes out, Funimation has my fucking money.

There's my rant.
Hopefully it makes up for me lurking so much.

(By the by, sorry if this is a bit random and I sound bitchy. I just needed to finally get some of my opinion out.)

You're acting like the whole of Dragon Ball was cropped and fucked up with DVNR... when in fact it was just Z.

However, I do agree with you that we should finally be happy to have the series in a cheap, affordable way.

True, but Z is more the bulk of the whole series, more then likely the same will happen with DragonBall itself, and I don't give much of a rat's ass about GT.

(Even if I DID buy the boxsets.)

Well, the recent trailer says otherwise; it's not cropped, no FUNi fun with DVNR, the colors look damn close to the Dragon Box... apparently they recieved good film masters from Toei. :)

I suppose we'll just have to wait and see what we get. Although, I'm still not going to be surprised if Funimation throws us a curveball and it ends up like Z.

It's a little too early to tell from a Youtube trailer, for all we know FUNimation are still using their old digi-beta masters like they did for GT.

GT turned out pretty good actually, apart from that silly smoothing they decided to do.

Oh, and I just realized...these sets are 5.1 aren't they? That means there'll be opportunities to rip some unreleased Dragon Ball BGM! :D

I should hope it looks as good as GT. The "smoothing" bothered me a total of 0%. Honestly, I thought that set looked great.
