Hey, if they started with orange, which wasn't the end of the world believe it or not, I'm glad they are being consistent by doing the next set the same. It's better than, uh, a mango orange or something.. (Couldn't think of an extremely bad color like the ones mentioned above)..

You can call me Rick because I'm not actually Piccolo.
I missed out on all of the DB Movie fun, huh?
Point blank: it's gonna suck if you want it to. Personally, I'm seeing it as a comedy.

Actually, I've bashed the orange color before... but after thinking about it, orange represents the series quite well... it's the color of the dragon ball themselves for fucks sake lol.
So now that I think the orange and consitency of it... the cross-eyed Vegeta is terrible, this Goku is ok... but it could've been better. end.

If the Goku was a tad smaller, so you can see more of the whole body, it'd be just great in my eyes. I have no real qualms with the boxset packaging, the design is simple and eyecatching in my eyes.
The orange doesn't bother me. This looks better than the Vegeta cover.

Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

It's better than a rather...manly woman telling you they have the DVD, but the company hasn't confirmed they can sell it. I laughed since I didn't really care (it's not like I'm buying this for keeps), but the fact that she didn't understand that sometimes things ship early and can be released upon receipt of the shipment ("soft street dates") made me wonder how she became a supervisor as her nametag implied.Brad Redfield wrote:No, Best Buy's "service" made a mistake and I didn't get the set...so no. Sorry.
EDIT: Damn you Kendamu! I shall have revenge!

Well I watched some eps from the set. A lot better looking than just seeing still frames, but here are some issues.
You can without a doubt see dust popping in and out. You can see the frames moving up and down, because it is film being worked with. You think that with frame by frame editing, they could have made it so that didn't happen.
This was viewed on a Samsung 26" HDTV.
The lines on the edge of the film aren't that noticeable on the TV.

Well, since you're being so flattering about it, I'll post my Work-In-Progress Freeza Saga cover. I'm going to start a new thread for it though, since it has nothing to do with this one.DaemonCorps wrote:Though I am still anxiously waiting for SelMod's final version of that custom packaging (and hoping that there'll be one made for each set. Sorry if that sounds too demanding).
Wikipedia page is updated with latest DVD cover. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Ball_Z

Holy shit. That custom box art looks awesome. If only FUNimation went for this. It'd be totally consistent with the Dragonball dvd sets. Continually I lose respect for FUNimation. The fuck mate..? =_=.DaemonCorps wrote:Ah... another orange box. Umm... at least they're being consistent. But really, this is definitely a step up from the cross-eyed crap of the first season Vegeta picture. If they keep using the same art style as they did from the UUEs, I see no problem with that.
Though I am still anxiously waiting for SelMod's final version of that custom packaging (and hoping that there'll be one made for each set. Sorry if that sounds too demanding).
That is so crap, the excuse given is horrible. Does anyone know how the second season back cover looks? If it still the 4:3 pictures, then I will know that Funimation are being an asshole.Comparison images from the new set show that while there is missing footage on the top and bottom, there is at least additional footage on the right and left that has not appeared in any prior release, having been taken straight from the original Japanese film master recording. In response to negative fan outcry regarding the release's apparent cropping of the source video, a FUNimation representative has released a document from the team remastering the video, which explains the logistics of the new release. This document details how certain areas of the original film are damaged, and admit that though the video is cropped, this release will eliminate the grain that would be present on prior 4:3 releases. It has also been theorized that it is ultimately more inexpensive to transfer the series in 16:9 and thereby remove the damaged portions of the frame than to repair 291 episodes' worth of damaged film.

Everyone's like, "What?! What are you doing with two arms?! You tear that off right now, mister!"

I remember searching google a few weeks back about DBZ season 1 and I came up on some Australian forum on the issue. A madman rep said that the second set was to contain the Namek and Ginyu saga, while the third set is to contain the Freeza saga, so not all sets will have as many episodes as the first, if the information was reliable.

Very professional looking. You should look into getting a job in packaging design.SelMod wrote:Well, since you're being so flattering about it, I'll post my Work-In-Progress Freeza Saga cover. The widescreen format looks bad.
